Color Demosaicing Algorithm Considering Color Constancy (색의 일관성을 고려한 색상 보간)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel way of combining color demosaicing and the auto white balance (AWB) method, which are important parts of image processing. Performance of the AWB is generally affected by demosaicing results because most AWB algorithms are performed posterior to color demosaicing. In order to increase the performance and efficiency of the AWB algorithm, the color constancy problem is considered during the color demosaicing step. Initial estimates of the directional luminance and chrominance values are defined for estimating edge direction and calculating the AWB gain. We propose a modified edge-based AWB method that used a pre-defined achromatic region. The estimation of edge direction is performed region adaptively by using the local statistics of the initial estimates of the luminance and chrominance information. The proposed method shows significant improvements in terms of visual and numerical criteria when compared to conventional methods.

A Study on the Voxel Coloring using Multi-variable Thresholding (다중 가변 문턱값을 이용한 복셀 칼라링 기법에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we proposed a advanced approach to resolve the trade-off problem for the threshold value determining the photo-consistency in the previous algorithms. The threshold value for the surface voxel is substituted the photo-consistency value of the inside voxel. As iterating the voxel coloring process, the threshold is approached to the optimal value for the individual surface voxel. we present an energy minimization formulation of the binary labeling problem that surface voxels classify into opacity or transparency. The energy formula consists of the data term and the smoothness term. As considering neighboring voxels in the labeling problem, the unevenness of reconstructed surface is reduced. The labeling whose energy is the global minimum can be computed using a graph cut.

An Efficient z-Buffer Algorithm using Temporal Coherence (시간 일관성을 이용한 효율적인 z-버퍼 알고리즘)

  • We present a method that enhances the rendering speed of z-buffer algorithm using temporal coherence between two contiguous frames on fixed viewing conditions. Conventional z-buffer algorithm stores depth value for each pixel on a view plane while rendering some polygons, then it determines the visibility of the remaining polygons based on the stored depth values. If we can get color and depth information for some polygons without rendering, it is possible to generate an image by rendering only the remaining ones. In case of high frame rate, we can find the fact that sets of static polygons of the two contiguous frames are almost the same. This temporal coherence enables us to get the color and depth information of static polygons efficiently. Our algorithm stores color and depth information of static polygons and reuses it for generating the next frame. This method can be easily implemented since it does not require complex data structure and modification for conventional z-buffer algorithm. Also it is adequate for hardware implementation.

Color Transfer using Color Contrast Based Templates (색의대비 기반 템플릿을 이용한 색상 변환)

  • We propose a color transfer method that used color contrast based templates to express the visual difference clearly between objects, while remaining the quality of the input image. Our algorithm employs colors of both the input image and template distributed on the $a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$chrominance plane of CIE $L^{\ast}a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$color space. The templates are made by considering the effect of color contrast and have the shape of either a line or a curve represented color distribution of the basic colors based gradation image. These tempates can be modeled on spline curves. We also generate simply new templates with the different basic colors by moving the control points of that curve. The color transfer method using the templates is done through a regressive analysis and color matching. We maintained color coherence of the input image by transforming similarly the color distribution of an input image to the one of templates.

A New Voxel Coloring Method for 3D Shape Reconstruction (3차원 형상 재구성을 위한 새로운 복셀 칼라링 기법)

  • We propose an optimal thresholding method for the voxel coloring in the reconstruction of a 3D shape. Our purposed method is a new approach to resolve the trade-off error of the threshold value on determining the photo-consistency in the conventional method. Optimal thresholding value is decided to compare the photo-consistency of a surface with inside voxel on the optic ray of the center camera. As iterating the process of the vokels, the threshold is approached to the optimal value for the individual surface voxel. And also, graph cut method is reduced to the surface noise on eliminating neighboring voxel. To verify the proposed algorithm, we simulated in the virtual and real environment. It is advantaged to speed up and accuracy of a 3D face reconstruction by applying the methods of optimal threshold and graph as compare with conventional algorithms.

  • 본 논문은 비모수적 클러스터링 기법을 이용하여 다양한 조명에 노출된 의상들의 색상 유사성을 안정적으로 판단하는 방법을 제안한다. 색상 유사성 판별을 위하여 기존에 대표적으로 사용되어왔던 히스토그램 인터섹션이나 누적 히스토그램 방법은 조명 변화에 민감하게 반응하여, 동일한 의상 색상이라 할지라도 서로 다른 조명환경에서는 서로 상이한 색상 판별 결과를 나타낸다. 본 논문에서는 조명에 의한 영향을 줄이고, 색상 자체의 분포 특성을 분석하기 위하여 조명조건의 변화에도 일관된 특성을 유지하는 색도와 채도 컬러 성분에 대한 분포 특성을 비모수적 클러스터링 기법을 적용하여 분석한다. 실험 결과 제안기법은 동일한 의상 쌍과 상이한 의상 쌍에 대하여 구분을 지을 수 있는 양자화의 특성이 뚜렷하게 표현되었다.

Normalized Region Extraction of Facial Features by Using Hue-Based Attention Operator (색상기반 주목연산자를 이용한 정규화된 얼굴요소영역 추출)

  • A hue-based attention operator and a combinational integral projection function(CIPF) are proposed to extract the normalized regions of face and facial features robustly against illumination variation. The face candidate regions are efficiently detected by using skin color filter, and the eyes are located accurately nil robustly against illumination variation by applying the proposed hue- and symmetry-based attention operator to the face candidate regions. And the faces are confirmed by verifying the eyes with the color-based eye variance filter. The proposed CIPF, which combines the weighted hue and intensity, is applied to detect the accurate vertical locations of the eyebrows and the mouth under illumination variations and the existence of mustache. The global face and its local feature regions are exactly located and normalized based on these accurate geometrical information. Experimental results on the AR face database[8] show that the proposed eye detection method yields better detection rate by about 39.3% than the conventional gray GST-based method. As a result, the normalized facial features can be extracted robustly and consistently based on the exact eye location under illumination variations.

  • 본 논문에서는 간단한 사용자 입력과 다중 랜덤 워크(multiple random walker) 기법을 기반으로 동영상 내의 주요 객체를 분할하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 우선 동영상의 첫 프레임에서 점 형태의 사용자의 입력을 받아 대략적인 객체와 배경의 위치를 얻고, Lab 색상의 측지거리를 이용하여 객체와 배경의 중요도 지도를 얻는다. 다음으로 영상을 슈퍼 픽셀 단위로 분할하고, 다중 랜덤 워크 기법을 적용하여 객체 분할을 수행한다. 랜덤 워크 기법 적용 시, 중요도 지도를 각 랜덤 워커의 초기 분포로 설정하고, 노드간 색상과 움직임 차이를 이용하여 전이 행렬을 계산한다. 마지막으로 결과를 정련한 뒤, 다음 프레임으로 분할 결과를 전파하여 시간적 일관성을 유지한다. 실험을 통하여 제안 기법이 기존 기법에 비하여 우수한 객체 분할 성능을 보임을 확인한다.

Distinction of Color Similarity for Clothes based on the LBG Algorithm (LBG 알고리즘 기반의 의상 색상 유사성 판별)

  • This paper proposes a stable and robust method to distinct the color similarity for clothes using the LBG algorithm under various light sources, Since the conventional methods, such as the histogram intersection and the accumulated histogram, are profoundly sensitive to the changing of light environments, the distinction of color similarity for the same cloth can be different due to the complicated light sources. To reduce the effects of the light sources, the properties of hue and saturation which consistently sustain the characteristic of the color under the various changes of light sources are analyzed to define the characteristic of the color distribution. In a two-dimensional space determined by the properties of hue and saturation, the LBG algorithm, a non-parametric clustering approach, is applied to examine the color distribution of images for each clothes. The color similarity of images is defined by the average of Euclidean distance between the mapping clusters which are calculated from the result of clustering of both images. To prove the stability of the proposed method, the results of the color similarity between our method and the traditional histogram analysis based methods are compared using a dozen of cloth examples that obtained under different light environments. Our method successively provides the classification between the same cloth image pair and the different cloth image pair and this classification of color similarity for clothe images obtains the 91.6% of success rate.
