형광입자를 이용한 분리막 표면 검측 방법의 파일럿 규모 플랜트 적용 (Application of fluorescent particles as a tracer to detect the membrane surface damage in a pilot scale membrane bioreactor)

  • In this study, a fluorescent silica nano particle is used as the surrogate for challenging test of membrane surface integrity. The particles are functionalized by a fluorescent dying agent so that as an ultraviolet light is imposed a bright fluorescent image from the particles can be taken. If a membrane surface is damaged and has a compromised part larger than the size of surrogate the fluorescent particles would pass through and contained in the permeate. An operator can directly notice whether the membrane surface is damaged or not by detecting a fluorescent image taken from the permeate. Additionally, the size of compromised part is estimated through analysing the fluorescent image in which we surmise the mass of particles included in the permeate by calculating an average RGB value of the image. The pilot scale experiments showed that this method could be applied successfully to determine if a membrane surface had a damaged parts regardless of the test condition. In the testing on the actual damaged area of $4.712mm^2$, the lowest error of estimating the damaged area was -1.32% with the surrogate concentration of 80 mg/L, flux of $40L/m^2/hr$ for 25 minutes of detection. A further study is still going on to increase the lowest detection limit and thus decrease the error of estimation.

입자분리효율을 높이기 위한 새로운 기술 (New Technologies for Enhancing Particles Separation Efficiency in Coagulation and Filtration)

  • Polysilicato-iron coagulant (PSI) is receiving attention in Japan as a substitute for aluminum-based coagulants. In the first part of this article, coagulation, sedimentation and filtration experiments were carried out using kaolin clay particles as the turbidizing material and four types of PSI with various molar ratios of polysilicic acid to ferric chloride (Si/Fe ratio). Results demonstrate that use of a PSI with a high Si/Fe ratio can cause a more dramatic decrease in treated water turbidity but a higher suction time ratio (STR) than when PACl is used. However, optimization by increasing the rapid agitation strength GR is found to greatly improve the STR. In addition, the series of filtration experiments verified that optimization of GR is greatly effective in controlling rapid increases in filter head loss, and also formation of a thin aging layer in the upper part of the filter bed by slow-start filtration is effective in improving filtered water turbidity over the entire filtration process. The second part of this article describes two innovative filtration techniques to increase the particle separation efficiency; (1) coagulant-coated filter medium by enhancing the electrical potential of the surface of the filter medium, and (2) coagulant dosing in influent by controlling the electrical potential of particles entering the filter layer. From the results of the various filtration experiments using a pilot plant, these two techniques were found to be very effective to reduce the effluent water turbidity from the start to the end of a filter run. Moreover, in the filtration experiments using these two methods simultaneously, higher removal efficiency of approximately 3-log (99.7%) was realized, resulting that the finished water turbidity was accordingly reduced to 0.004mg/L.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서 데이터 전송은 데이터 중심 라우팅에 기반하여 이루어지기 때문에 공표/신청 통신 패러다임과 부합한다. 공표/신청 패러다임은 공간 분리성, 시간 분리성, 동기화 분리성이라는 세가지 분리 특성을 통해 대규모 애플리케이션 환경을 위한 확장성과 강건성을 제공할 수 있다. 그러나 현존하는 무선 센서 네트워크의 데이터 전송 방안들은 이 분리성들을 완전히 만족하지 못한다. 따라서, 우리는 세가지 분리성을 온전히 만족하기 위한 새로운 데이터 전송 방안인 ARBITER를 제시한다. ARBITER는 독립 네트워크 구조체를 구성하여, 공표자와 신청자 간의 정보 교환이 구조체를 통해 간접적이고 비동기적으로 이루어지도록 한다. ARBITER는 또한 공표자와 신청자가 서로 다른 시기에 연결을 시도하더라도 이를 지원할 수 있도록 구조체가 데이터와 쿼리를 저장하고 서로간의 매핑을 관리한다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 ARBITER가 확장성, 네트워크 강건성, 데이터 신뢰성, 이동성 지원, 그리고 에너지 효율성에서 더 나은 성능을 보인다는 것을 입증한다.

합류부 하상고 불일치에 의한 두부침식 및 분리구역 특성분석 (An Analysis for the Characteristics of Headward Erosion and Separation Zone due to Bed Discordance at Confluence)

  • 본 연구는 지류의 합류각, 지류와 본류의 유량비, 준설 깊이비의 변화에 따른 지류에서의 두부침식 양상과 합류부 이동상 하도에서의 분리구역의 특성을 분석하였다. 분리구역은 지류가 합류되어진 직후 단면에서의 유속이 0(영)인 구간으로 정의하였다. 준설 깊이에 따른 두부침식이 발생치 않은 범위를 제시하였다. 합류각, 유량비, 준설 깊이비 증가에 따른 두부침식 깊이비 및 천급점의 이동거리비는 전반적으로 증가하였으며, 천급점의 이동거리비의 관계식을 제시하였다. 이동상 하도에서의 유량비와 합류각 증가에 따른 분리구역의 길이비 및 폭비는 고정상 하도에서와 같은 양상으로 증가하였다. 준설 깊이비 증가에 따른 분리구역의 길이비는 감소하고 폭비은 증가하여 형상지수는 크게 증가하여 통수단면의 감소로 배수위 현상이 기대된다. 고정상 하도와 이동상하도에서의 합류각, 유량비, 준설 깊이비에 따른 형상지수 관계식을 제안하였다.

식생전이 지점의 수온을 이용한 수위-유량관계곡선식 개발 (Development of Rating curve using water temperature at vegetation shifted station)

  • 식생전이에 따른 기간분리는 해외 및 국내 논문에서 식생영향을 받지 않는 곡선식과의 차이를 검토하고, 측정성과별 분류를 통해 곡선식을 개발하는 방법이 제시하고 있으나 적용기간 설정에 대한 구체적인 방법이 없다. 또한 상하류 비교를 통해 기간분리의 적정성을 검토할 수 있다고 명시되어 있으나 비교 관측소가 없는 경우 검토에 어려움이 있다. 본 연구는 2017년 수위-유량관계곡선식의 적용시간 결정에서 현장 식생모니터링 자료와 함께 연간 수온변화를 참고 자료로 활용하였다. 연간 수온자료를 산정하기 위해 측정된 수온과 해당 기온에 대한 상관관계식을 개발하였다. 또한 산포가 발생하는 측정성과는 생성된 연간 수온자료를 참고하여 전이여부를 판단하였다. 2018년은 2017년의 계절별 수온변화 자료 및 수집된 주요 수중식생의 생활사를 참고하여 연간 측정계획에 활용하였으며, 수위-유량관계곡선식 개발 시 동일한 방법을 사용하였다. 2017년은 가뭄으로 인해 수중식생에 의한 전이가 활발했던 기간으로 측정성과에 대해 식생영향 최고 기간과 최대 기간의 동일수위에 대해서 유량을 비교한 결과 $0.003m^3/s{\sim}1.099m^3/s$의 범위를 보였다. 유출량 비교의 경우 기간분리를 적용하지 않았을 경우 약 40.1% 과대 산정되었다. 2018년은 잦은 강우로 인해 수중식생의 이탈 및 전이 영향수위의 발생빈도가 비교적 적어 동 수위 유량을 비교한 결과 $0.19m^3/s{\sim}0.49m^3/s$의 범위를 보였다. 연 유출량을 비교한 결과, 기간분리를 고려하지 않은 경우가 약 39.6%로 과소 산정되었다. 따라서 본 연구사례를 통해 식생에 의한 기간분리가 발생하는 지점에 대해서 비교적 합리적인 측정주기 계획을 위한 확립 근거와 기간분리 적용기간에 대한 합리적인 자료로 활용 될 수 있을 것이다.

점토와 조류입자의 제타전위가 부상분리 효율에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Zeta Potential of Clay and Algae Particles on Flotation Efficiency)

  • Zeta potential is a key parameter of double layer repulsion for individual particles and can usually be used to interpret the trend of coagulation efficiency. This study focused on the measurement of zeta potential of algae and clay under various experimental conditions including water characteristics (pure water, stream water, reservoir water) and coagulant dose (10~50 mg/L). Results showed that the variation of zeta potential was highly sensitive depending on the water characteristics and coagulation conditions. Zeta potential of two genera of algae (anabaena sp. and microcystis sp.) were changed highly with coagulant dosage, especially. On the basis of trajectory analysis, bubble-floc collision efficiency simulated in terms of zeta potential was fitted well with removal efficiency of chlorophyll-a from algae particles. It was found that the control of zeta potential was important for effective removal of algae particles.

한외여과를 이용한 폐 CMP Slurry의 분리에서 압력의 영향 (Pressure Effect on Ultrafiltration of Used CMP Slurry)

  • CMP (Chemical mechanical polishing) is inevitable process to overcome $0.2{\mu}m$ wire thickness in semiconductor industry. In this study, effect of pressure to separate used CMP slurry into solid and liquid for recycle and reuse by ultrafiltration was investigated. Also, water quality after the ultrafiltration such as turbidity and TDS was evaluated. The material of membrane used in the study was PVDF. The used CMP contained 0.5% of solid content and then concentrated up to 18% by weight. The used CMP can not be concentrated higher than 18% because of viscosity and abrasion of pump. The tested feed pressures were 22.1, 29.4 and 36.8 psi. The results have shown that operating at 36.8 psi has advantages on operation time and total flux. The specific flux showed some variation at 1 to 15 of concentration factor but no difference after 15 of concentration factor. Mass balance of solid at initial stage of the operation showed some unbalance because of deposition of solid on the membrane, which was main reason to reduce flux. Turbidity was very stable at lower than 0.2NTU for 22.1 and 36.8 psi of feed pressure.

하수 2차 처리수 재이용을 위한 hybrid 응집-UF 막분리 공정의 적용 (Application of Coagulation-UF Hybrid Membrane Process for Reuse of Secondary Effluent)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the factors affecting the optimization of coagulation hybrid UF membrane processes for the reuse of secondary effluent from sewage treatment plant. The experimental results obtained from the UF membrane process showed that organic colloids in the size range of $0.2{\mu}m{\sim}1.0{\mu}m$ caused the most substantial influence on the fouling of UF membrane. When using a coagulation pretreatment to UF membrane, alum dosage of 50mg/L resulted in the least reduction in membrane permeate flux. Also, for the rapid mixing process, in-line mixer type was more efficient for organic removal than back mixer type. Therefore, it may be concluded that coagulation-UF hybrid membrane process comparing to UF alone process showed not only higher removal efficiency of organic matter, but also substantial improvement of permeate flux of UF membrane.

막 재질에 따른 막분리활성오니법의 여과 특성 (Effects of the Membrane Materials on the Filtration Characteristic in the Membrane Separation-activated Sludge Process)

  • By checking the variations of the raw water quality and MLSS, the effects of the membrane materials on permeable flux and quality of the treated water were investigated in this study. Due to the stability for high variations of MLSS, tubular type membranes were selected. Polysulfone group membranes and polyamide group membranes were tested. The crossflow operation mode was adapted, because membrane fouling problems could be easily controlled by adjusting the linear velocity. Due to the high concentration of the raw water, polyamide group membranes were originally expected to achieve two times higher permeable fluxes. However, difference was only approximately $20l/m^2{\cdot}h$ at $3kgf/cm^2$. It might be resulted from the high concentration of organic materials in the effluent of the RBC process. For the quality of the treated water, polyamide group membranes were slightly less effective. It might be resulted from the fact that polysulfone group membranes had more adsorptive capacities for the organic materials. The effects of temperature on the permeable flux were found to be significant. Despite of the irregular injection of raw water, the quality of the treated water was kept stable.

수질에 대한 대기건식침적의 영향 - 건식침적량 추정 방법론의 비교를 중심으로 (Effect of Dry Deposition on Water Quality -The comparison of several methodologies for estimating dry deposition flux)

  • A special field experiment has been carried out from March 2001 to June 2001 at the Changhowon in Kyunggi to investigate a better methodology for the estimation of dry deposition of pollutions applicable in Korea. In this study, dry deposition plate was used to measure of total and water soluble acidic mass fluxes, and CPRI(Coarse Particle Rotary Impactor), CI(Cascade Impactor) were also used to measure ambient concentrations in various particle size ranges. Sehmel-Hodgson model was used to estimate dry depostion velocity and Weibull probability distribution function was applied to get generalized particle size distribution for the size fractioned concentration data sampled by CPRI and CI. Atmospheric dry deposition fluxes of mass and ionic matters estimated by the various techniques(one-step, multi-step, equi-concentration, subdivision for only the coarse particle range, applying Weibull distribution function, etc.) were compared to flux data sampled by DDP. It was found out that the deposition fluxes estimation methodology calculated by the each particle size range devided by particle size distribution characteristics and the rapidly changed points of deposition velocity using Weibull probability distribution function was the most applicable.
