  • Currently, the problem of food shortage is emerging in our society due to climate problems and an increase population in the world. As a solution to this problem, we propose a multi-remote control smart farm that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT) technologies. The proposed smart farm integrates ICT technology to remotely control and manage crops without restrictions in space and time, and to multi-control the growing environment of crops. In addition, using Arduino and deep-learning technology, a smart farm capable of multiple control through a smart-phone application (APP) was proposed, and Ai technology with various data securing and diagnosis functions while observing crop growth in real-time was included. Various sensors in the smart farm are controlled by using the Arduino, and the data values of the sensors are stored in the built database, so that the user can check the stored data with the APP. For multiple control for multiple crops, each LED, COOLING FAN, and WATER PUMP for two or more growing environments were applied so that the user could control it conveniently. And by implementing an APP that diagnoses the growth stage through the Tensor-Flow framework using deep-learning technology, we developed an application that helps users to easily diagnose the growth status of the current crop.

  • This study is a study on 11-story apartments that increase the event of fires in old apartments where building-related laws and regulations are not retroactively applied. As a result of analyzing the risk of installing fire doors in Improvement Scenario 2-4, assuming that fire doors are installed as basic scenario 1 in the existing situation where fire doors are not installed at the entrance of direct stairs. In basic scenario 1, the visible distance to the entrance of the direct staircase due to the spread of smoke was 260 seconds. Improvement scenarios 3 to 4 with fire doors installed open 300 seconds after the fire was recognized, and when the fire doors were installed at the entrance of the direct stairs, the visibility to the entrance of the statistics team was less than 600 seconds. In this case, the visibility was 600 seconds at the time of installation of the fire door, and scenarios 3 to 4 increased 56.6% compared to scenario 1, lowering the risk of evacuation by more than 50%. In order to eliminate the risk of non-installation of direct statistical groups that increase the risk of smoke spread, building-related laws such as the Fire Fighting Act shall be retroactively applied when installing a direct stairway entrance or balcony folding evacuation system. The improvement caused by the installation of fire doors has numerically proven the necessity of fire doors during evacuation, and the importance of maintaining fire doors can be grasped.

  • The framework plan for the development of an integrated underground space map was established of preventing ground subsidence. The mapping process is expected to be completed to the level of nationwide municipal government standards by end of this year. To facilitate the utilization of the integrated underground space map, paper-based drawings for specialized organizations in underground safety impact assessment have been provided since September 2018, and services for local government officials have been provided in the underground information utilization system since May 2019. However, the map is utilized based on the information at the time of the initial development of the map, without any updates, thereby resulting in a lack of accuracy and latest information. This has led to a decrease in the utilization and reliability of the information. Therefore, in this study, for the underground structures(subway, underground shopping mall, underground passage, underground roadway, underground parking lot, utility tunnel), which are the key components of the integrated underground space map, a standard format for the submission of completed drawings is designed in accordance with Article 42 (2) of the Special Act on Underground Safety Management, which aims at laying the foundation for establishing the updated system of the integrated underground space map. In addition, through the verification of the automatically updated underground structure data based on the standard format, the reliability of the data can be assured. This format is expected to contribute to the improved utilization of the integrated underground space map in the future.

  • As the manufacturing paradigm shifts, various collaborative robots are creating new markets. Demand for collaborative robots is increasing in all industries for the purpose of easy operation, productivity improvement, and replacement of manpower who do simple tasks compared to existing industrial robots. However, accidents frequently occur during work caused by collaborative robots in industrial sites, threatening the safety of workers. In order to construct an industrial site through robots in a human-centered environment, the safety of workers must be guaranteed, and there is a need to develop a collaborative robot guard system that provides reliable communication without the possibility of dispatch. It is necessary to double prevent accidents that occur within the working radius of cobots and reduce the risk of safety accidents through sensors and computer vision. We build a system based on OPC UA, an international protocol for communication with various industrial equipment, and propose a collaborative robot guard system through image analysis using ultrasonic sensors and CNN (Convolution Neural Network). The proposed system evaluates the possibility of robot control in an unsafe situation for a worker.

  • In Korea, the number of national facilities for which a safety inspection is mandatory is increasing, and a safer safety inspection method is needed. This study aimed to increase the efficiency of the bridge safety inspection by enabling rapid exterior inspection while securing the safety of inspectors by using drones to perform the safety inspections of bridges, which had mainly relied on visual inspections. For the research, the Youngjong Grand Bridge in Incheon was selected as a test bed and was divided into four parts: the warren truss, suspension bridge main cable, main tower, and pier. It was possible to establish a five-step standard procedure for drone safety inspections. The step-by-step contents of the standard procedure obtained as a result of this research are: Step 1, facility information collection and analysis, Step 2, analysis of vulnerable parts and drone flight planning, Step 3, drone photography and data processing, Step 4, condition evaluation by external inspection, Step 5, building of external inspection diagram and database. Therefore, if the safety inspections of civil engineering facilities including bridges are performed according to this standard procedure, it is expected that these inspection can be carried out more systematically and efficiently.

  • A corporate insolvency prediction model serves as a vital tool for objectively monitoring the financial condition of companies. It enables timely warnings, facilitates responsive actions, and supports the formulation of effective management strategies to mitigate bankruptcy risks and enhance performance. Investors and financial institutions utilize default prediction models to minimize financial losses. As the interest in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology for corporate insolvency prediction grows, extensive research has been conducted in this domain. However, there is an increasing demand for explainable AI models in corporate insolvency prediction, emphasizing interpretability and reliability. The SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) technique has gained significant popularity and has demonstrated strong performance in various applications. Nonetheless, it has limitations such as computational cost, processing time, and scalability concerns based on the number of variables. This study introduces a novel approach to variable selection that reduces the number of variables by averaging SHAP values from bootstrapped data subsets instead of using the entire dataset. This technique aims to improve computational efficiency while maintaining excellent predictive performance. To obtain classification results, we aim to train random forest, XGBoost, and C5.0 models using carefully selected variables with high interpretability. The classification accuracy of the ensemble model, generated through soft voting as the goal of high-performance model design, is compared with the individual models. The study leverages data from 1,698 Korean light industrial companies and employs bootstrapping to create distinct data groups. Logistic Regression is employed to calculate SHAP values for each data group, and their averages are computed to derive the final SHAP values. The proposed model enhances interpretability and aims to achieve superior predictive performance.

  • Reckless development of the underground by rapid urbanization causes inspection delay on replacement of existing structure and installation new facilities. However, frequent accidents occur due to deviation in construction design planned by inaccurate location information of underground structure. Meanwhile, the electrical resistivity survey, knowns as non-destructive method, is based on the difference in the electric potential of electrodes to measure the electrical resistance of ground. This method is significantly advanced with multi-electrode and deep learning for analyzing strata. However, there is no study to quantitatively assess change in electrical resistance according to geometric conditions of structures. This study evaluates changes in electrical resistance through geometric parameters of electrodes and structure. Firstly, electrical resistance numerical module is developed using generalized mesh occurring minimal errors between theoretical and numerical resistance values. Then, changes in resistances are quantitatively compared on geometric parameters including burial depth, diameter of structure, and distance electrode and structure under steady current condition. The results show that higher electrical resistance is measured for shallow depth, larger size, and proximity to the electrode. Additionally, electric potential and current density distributions are analyzed to discuss the measured electrical resistance around the terminal electrode and structure.

  • PHC piles demonstrate superior resistance to compression and bending moments, and their factory-based production enhances quality assurance and management processes. Despite these advantages that have resulted in widespread use in civil engineering and construction projects, the design process frequently relies on empirical formulas or N-values to estimate the soil-pile friction, which is crucial for bearing capacity, and this reliance underscores a significant lack of experimental validation. In addition, environmental factors, e.g., the pH levels in groundwater and the effects of seawater, are commonly not considered. Thus, this study investigates the influence of vibrating machine foundations on PHC pile models in consideration of the effects of varying pH conditions. Concrete model piles were subjected to a one-month conditioning period in different pH environments (acidic, neutral, and alkaline) and under the influence of seawater. Subsequent repeated direct shear tests were performed on the pile-soil interface, and the disturbed state concept was employed to derive parameters that effectively quantify the dynamic behavior of this interface. The results revealed a descending order of shear stress in neutral, acidic, and alkaline conditions, with the pH-influenced samples exhibiting a more pronounced reduction in shear stress than those affected by seawater.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate temperature for water curtain in greenhouses equipped with recirculated water curtain system. The study analyzed the changes in air temperature in non-heated greenhouses for strawberry cultivation based on outdoor temperature, water curtain temperature and night time. Three greenhouse units were used for this study: The first unit was assigned as a control (no water curtain system), two other greenhouses were equipped with recirculated water curtain system with water curtain temperatures of $10^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$, respectively. Analysis showed that the indoor temperatures were directly correlated with the outdoor temperature in all experimental greenhouses. Heat insulating effect of $15^{\circ}C$ water curtain was increased by $1.3^{\circ}C$ compared to that in $10^{\circ}C$ water curtain system. The $15^{\circ}C$ water curtain treatment showed the highest average temperature and less temperature variation in comparison with control and $10^{\circ}C$ water curtain treatment. To maintain indoor temperature at $5^{\circ}C$, water curtain temperature of $10^{\circ}C$ was suitable when outdoor minimum and average temperatures were -1.3 and $1.5^{\circ}C$, and water curtain temperature of $15^{\circ}C$ was suitable when outdoor minimum and average temperatures were -4.7 and $-0.2^{\circ}C$, respectively. The highest temperature in greenhouses according to measurements in different periods of night time was observed after sunset (18:30-20:30), and the lowest temperature before sunrise (05:00-07:00). Water curtain maintained a target indoor temperature by acting as a layer of heat transfer insulator which decreased heat loss from greenhouses. Therefore, water temperature in recirculating water curtain systems should be determined by considering outdoor temperatures, changes in temperature at different periods of night time, and cultivated crop.
