This study was investigated to know the thermal decomposition and measure the reaction time and temperature by EIDS cook-off test for the propellant ingredients and 2 kinds of HTPE propellants. The thermal analysis of the propellant ingredients used in this study showed that the thermal stability of these materials decreases in the following order : AP > HTPE > AN > BuNENA. In addition, propellant HTPE 002 containing AN showed that an endothermic process at around $125^{\circ}C$ corresponding to the solid`solid phase change($II{\rightarrow}I$) of AN was followed by the exothermic process due to decomposition of BuNENA/AN until $200^{\circ}C$. HTPE 001 and HTPE 001 reacted at around $250^{\circ}C$ and $152^{\circ}C$ each other, and the temperature of them sharply increased at $115^{\circ}C$ from EIDS slow cook-off tests.
The floor tile on a coated green-glass was excavated from the Beobgwangsa Temple Site in the Pohang City. We analyzed using the MXRD, ICP-AES, EDXRF, TG/DTA and TIMS. As a result of microscope analysis, it was composed of quartz, feldspar and clay particl
Dang-Chin feldspar powder with the mean particle size of 9.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ was added to the synthesized mullite powder with the particle size of +325∼-200 mesh and the powder compact was prepared by PLPP(pressureless powder packing method). Densification behaviors were observed in sintering temperature range of 1200∼1400$^{\circ}C$. The binder solution of 4% PVA was infilterated into packed powder to the suitable strength. The PLPP method makes it possible to form compacts without clay as plasticizer. Therfore there was no defect caused by phase transition after sintering. Additionally, we observed the dense microstructure by the melting of feldspar. When the mullite compacts with feldspar of 30% were sintered at 1300$^{\circ}C$-4 hrs, we obtained the dense microstructure with zero water absorption and porosity <1%. When these compacts were sintered longer than 4 hrs at 1300$^{\circ}C$ or higher than 1400$^{\circ}C$, the examggerated grain growth of mullite was observed.
The physical properties and microstructural changes with heat-treatment of opacified silica aerogels doped by TiO2 were investigated. Monolithic SiO2-TiO2 aerogels were prepared by supercritical drying (25$0^{\circ}C$, 1250 psig) of wet gel obtained by adding titanium isopropoxide to prehydrolyzed TEOS-isopropanol solutions. The density and the porosity of SiO2-10 mol% TiO2 aerogels were 0.23 g/㎤ and 90%, respectively. During supercritical drying, the linear shrinkage of aerogels increased with increase in the titanium content an TiO2 was transformed to the anatase phase as well as particls agglomerates led to TiO2 clusters of 100~800 nm dispersed homogeneoulsy in the silica matrix. The IR transmittance of opacified silica aerogels was very low in the region of wavelengths below 8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ compared with pure silica aerogels and SiO2-TiO2 aerogels showed the high thermal stability of microstructures up to $600^{\circ}C$.

The micro-porous asymmetric PVDF hollow fiber membranes for gas-liquid contactor were prepared by the dry-jet wet phase inversion process and the characteristics of hollow fiber membranes were evaluated by the gas permeation method and scanning electron microscope. The chemical absorbent for removal of $SO_2$ gas was sodium hydroxide at bench scale hollow fiber membrane contactor. The experiments were performed in a counter-current mode of operation with gas in the shell side and liquid in the fiber lumen of the module to examine the effect of various operating variables such as concentration of absorbent, gas flow rate, L/G ratio and concentration of inlet $SO_2$ gas on the $SO_2$ removal efficiency using PVDF hollow fiber membrane contactor. Membrane mass transfer coefficient($k_m$) was calculated by mathematical modeling. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing the concentration of absorbent and L/G ratio. The increase of the absorbent concentration and L/G ratio not only provides more sufficient alkalinity but also decreases liquid phase resistance. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing gas flow rate due to decreasing the gas phase resistance.
Silicon nitride($Si_3N_4)$ is one of the most widely used structural ceramic materials. However silicon nitride is difficult to sinter because of its strong covalent bonding characteristics. In this study, $Si_3N_4$ ceramics were fabricated by spark plasma sintering process with $Y_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ addition to improve the sinterability and the mechanical properties and their phase transformation behavior, microstructure and mechanical properties were evaluated. Fully densified $Si_3N_4$ ceramics could be obtained by spark plasma sintering process at a lower temperature than conventional sintering method. The formation of network microstructure was affected by the addition of $Al_2O_3$ because it could accelerate a to ${\alpha}$ to ${\beta}$ phase transformation of $Si_3N_4$. As a result, the mechanical properties depended on amounts of $Al_2O_3$ addition. The hardness value increased with increasing ${\alpha}$-phase fraction, but fracture toughness value increase with increasing ${\beta}$-phase fraction.
#140 mesh and #600 mesh wheels were adopted to grind (111) and (100) oriented single crystalline silicon wafer and the grinding induced change of the surface integrity was investigated. For this purpose, microroughness, residual stress and phase transformation were analyzed for the ground surface. Microroughness was analyzed using AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) and crystal structure was analyzed using micro-Raman spectroscopy. The residual stress and phase transformation were also analyzed after thermal annealing in the air. As a result, microroughness of (111) wafer was larger than that of (100) wafer after grinding. It was observed using Raman spectrum that the silicon was transformed from diamond cubic Si-I to Si-III(body centered tetragonal) or Si-XII(rhombohedral). Residual stress relaxation was also shown in cavities which were produced after grinding. The thermal annealing was effective for the recovery of the silicon phase to the original phase and the residual stress relaxation.

SiC particles (average size is 270 nm) of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 vol% were dispersed in $Si_{3}N_{4}$, and $Si_{3}N_{4}/SiC$ nanocomposites were fabricated by hot press. After sintering, matrix phase, ${\alpha}-Si_{3}N_{4}$ was transformed to ${\beta}-Si_{3}N_{4}$, and second phase, ${\beta}-SiC$ was not changed. No grain boundary crystalline phase by adding of sintering additives was detected. Grain growth of $Si_{3}N_{4}$ was supressed with increasing of SiC contents, and then fine grain was occurred. The highest fracture strength was obtained at 10 vol% SiC, and fracture toughness was decreased, but hardness was linearly increased with SiC content.
Hydroxyapatite (HAp)/Polyacrylic Acid(PAA) homogeneous composites of four different composition ratio were preparation by co-precipitation process with synthetic HAp and PAA as a binder. HAP/PAA composites were molding by cold isostatic pressing and were sintering by various condition in air. Crystallinity and structure of sintered HAp/PAA composites were investigated by XRD and FT-IR. Also, the compressive strength and the fracture surface of sintered specimens were measured by UTM and SEM. HAp/PAA composites were showed phase transformation of partially ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate at sintering condition of 1200$^{\circ}C$ and 3 h. The pore size and porosity of sintered body were showed the range of 0.2∼3.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 0.49∼13.43%, respectively. The compressive strength of sintered specimens were appeared the range of 36.6∼58.2 MPa. From these results, the sintered HAp/PAA comosites can be accounted for the microporous HAp having a good compressive strength due to homogeneous pore morphology.
$(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3$-based ceramics have been intensively studied as lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. In this study, the piezoelectric properties and phase transition behaviors of BNT based solid solution $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{1-x}Ca_xTiO_3$ ($X=0.01{\sim}0.25$) were investigated. The morphotropic phase boundary(MPB) zone which BNT is transformed from rhombohedral to cubic structure was appeared by adding $CaTiO_3$ with 0.12 mol by the measurement of permittivity and X-ray diffraction. The behavior which ferroelectric BNT with adding $CaTiO_3$ was changed to antiferroelectric and paraelectric state was confirmed by the measurement ofhysterisis loop and depolarization temperature as a function of temperature. As $CaTiO_3$ concentration was increased, the phase transition temperature was decreased. The piezoelectric properties were highest at 0.01 mol of $CaTiO_3$ concentration. The electromechanical coupling factor($K_t$) and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) were 42% and 254, respectively.
