A Study on the Behaviour of the Station Structure due to Adjacent Construction (근접시공에 따른 정거장구조물 거동특성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, it has been made many adjacent construction of inter-facility by the expansion of urban infrastructure facilities using the underground space. The complaints relating to the stability of the facility by adjacent construction is common. In this study, it was conducted for the subway line 5 Gimpo airport station structure in the upper Gimpo urban railway to determine the behavior characteristics of station structure according to adjacent construction. It was performed evaluation of the safety zone and excavation method for station structure. And after a review of damage evaluation, track irregularities and structural calculation by using a numerical analysis, stability of the station structure according to adjacent construction was evaluated to be secured. This study is expected to be used as basic data in advance if you need to review the effects of nearby structure according to adjacent construction.

Safety Effect Evaluation of Existing Metro Tunnel by Deep Urban Tunnelling (대심도 도심지 터널시공에 의한 기존 지하철 터널 안전영향 평가)

  • Recently, due to the expansion of urban infrastructure using underground spaces in urban areas, many adjacent constructions and excavations have been made carried out between existing facilities, and complaints related to the stability of existing facilities due to close construction have become significant issues. In this study, it was closely reviewed for the existing metro tunnel structure in the new Dongbuk urban metro railway to determine the behavioral characteristics of tunnel structure according to adjacent tunnel construction. Also, it was analysed the evaluation of the safety zone and excavation method for metro tunnel structure. And after a detailed damage assessment, track irregularities and structural calculation by using a numerical analysis, stability of the metro tunnel structure according to nearby tunnel excavation was evaluated to be secured for safety. This study is expected to be applied as practical reference to review the evaluation of safety effects of existing tunnel structure and buildings according to adjacent construction in complex deep urban tunnelling.

Stability evaluation of existing subway structure by adjacent excavation in urban tunnelling (도심지 터널 근접시공에 의한 기존 지하철 구조물 안정성 평가)

  • As the construction of trans infrastructure using the underground tunnel have been rapidly increased, various nearby excavation of existed underground facility including subway structure has been occurred in urban tunnelling. The concern and worry relating to the safety and stability of the existed facility by nearby excavation is becoming the key issues in urban tunnelling. In this study, it was conducted for existed the subway station structure at Seoul subway line which was closely located in the new Dongbuk urban metro railway to determine the behavior characteristics of station structure according to adjacent tunnel construction. Also, it was reviewed the evaluation of the safety zone and excavation method for subway structure. And after a review of damage evaluation, track irregularities and structural calculation by using a numerical analysis, stability of the subway structure according to nearby tunnel excavation was evaluated to be secured. This study is expected to be applied as useful reference in advance if you need to review the effects of existed structure according to nearby construction in complex urban tunnelling.

A Fundamental Study on Laboratory Experiments in Rock Mechanics for Characterizing K-COIN Test Site (K-COIN 시험부지 특성화를 위한 암석역학 실내실험 기초 연구)

  • Disposal repository for high-level radioactive waste secures its safety by means of engineered and natural barriers. The performance of these barriers should be tested and verified through various aspects in terms of short and/or long-term. KAERI has been conducting various in-situ demonstrations in KURT (KAERI Underground Research Tunnel). After completing previous experiment, a conceptual design of an improved in-situ experiment, i.e. K-COIN (KURT experiment of THMC COupled and INteraction), was established and detailed planning for the experiment is underway. Preliminary characterizations were conducted in KURT for siting a K-COIN test site. 15 boreholes with a depth of about 20 m were drilled in three research galleries in KURT and intact rock specimens were prepared for laboratory tests. Using the specimens, physical measurements, uniaxial compression, indirect tension, and triaxial compression tests were conducted. As a result, specific gravity, porosity, elastic wave velocities, uniaxial compressive strength, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, Brazilian tensile strength, cohesion, and internal friction angle were estimated. Statistical analyses revealed that there did not exist meaningful differences in intact rock properties according to the drilled sites and the depth. Judging from the uniaxial compressive strength, which is one of the most important properties, all the specimens were classified as very strong rock so that mechanical safety was secured in all the regions.
