Catalytic activity in ammonia decomposition reaction was studied on Mo-Al nitride obtained through temperature programmed nitridation of calcined Mo-Al mixed oxide prepared by varying the MoO3 quantity in the range of 10-50 wt%. N2 sorption analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and H2-temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to investigate the physicochemical properties of the prepared catalyst were performed. After calcination at 600 ℃, the XRD of Mo-Al oxide showed γ-Al2O3 and Al2(MoO4)3 phases, and the nitride after nitridation showed an amorphous form. The specific surface area after nitridation by topotactic transformation of MoO3 to nitride was increased due to the formation of Mo nitride, and the Mo nitride was observed to be supported on γ-Al2O3. As for the catalytic activity in the ammonia decomposition reaction, 40 wt% MoO3 showed the best activity, and as the nitridation time increases, the activity increased, and thus the activation energy decreased.

The stress analyses of the 'U'-shaped multi-ply reinforced gimbal bellows under high pressure and rotational displacement loadings are performed at the room and cryogenic temperatures. The bellows are used for the Lox pipe line which connects the combustion chamber with the turbopump of a liquid rocket engine. The distributions of the stress, the strains and the contact pressures are obtained from the finite element analysis considering the geometric non-linearities of the contacts between the plies and the material one of the isotropic plasticity. Those are compared with the stress results from EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturing Association) standard. Also, the effects of the operating temperature and the reinforcing ring on the stresses are investigated.
The structural analyses and experimental results for the bellows of a gas-generator liquid oxygen shut-off valve were presented. The bellows experiences axial compression and external high pressure loadings at cryogenic temperatures. The analyses were performed using EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturing Association) standard and the commercial FE (finite element) analysis program, Abaqus v6.9, at room and cryogenic temperatures. The spring modulus, the induced stress and the expected fatigue life of the bellows were compared respectively. The effects by the contact and the material plasticity on the FE analysis results were also analyzed. Also, FE analyses related to a burst test were presented.
Vanadium containing MFI type zeolites have been prepared hydrothermally or by the impregnation method with $NH_4VO_3$ solution after dealumination of HZSM-5. Incorporation of vanadium into the framework of zeolite has been demonstrated by XRD, DTA, FT-IR and ESR analyses. Upon $NH_4VO_3$ impregnation and calcination of dealuminated zeolite, vanadium substitution into the framework could be performed like a hydrothermally synthesized zeolite. Vanadium in zeolite is able to pass redox cycles at high temperatures, and it is shown that vanadium is probably fixed and atomically dispersed in the structure of zeolite. The catalytic benzene hydroxylation, hexanes and alcohols oxidation were used for evaluating the properties of vanadium incorporated MFI zeolite.
For the effective utilization of cuttle bone as a calcium powder, we examined calcination condition ($700^{\circ}C: 0\sim10\;hrs,\;800^{\circ}C:\;0\sim3\;hrs,\;900^{\circ}C:\;0\sim1\;hr\;and\;1,000^{\circ}C:\;0\sim30\;mins$) for recovery of calcium from raw cuttle bone powder (RCB) and characteristics of calcined cuttle bone powder (CCB) treated by optimal condition. During calcination of RCB, the yields was decreased, while total and soluble calcium contents and white index were increased up to constant calcination time ($8\;hrs\;at\;700^{\circ}C,\;2\;hrs\;at\;800^{\circ}C,\;45\;min\;at\;900^{\circ}C\;and\;20\;min\;at\;1,000^{\circ}C$). But, these after that almost unchanged. From these results, the optimal calcination conditions for recovery of calcium from RCB were revealed $8\;hrs\;at\;700^{\circ}C,\;2\;hrs\;at\;800^{\circ}C,\;45\;min\;at\;900^{\circ}C\;and\;20\;min\;at\;1,000^{\circ}C$. In the case of CCB treated for 2 hrs at $800^{\circ}C$, total calcium was about $70\%$, the major component was calcium oxide, and the structure consisted of porosity. The calcium solubility of CCB increased by 22 times compared to RCB. But, the pH of RCB was about 12.9. Therefore, for the effective utilization of RCB as a calcium powder, it requires a suitable modification operation for adjustment of pH ($pH\;2.0\~9.0$).
This paper is one of the studies for developing new methodologies for improving performance of hot-mix recycled asphalt mixtures. The objective of this study is to evaluate rut-resistance characteristics of recycled asphalt mixture which was prepared by newly developed mixing method. The new mixing method provided more sufficient rejuvenation of old binder of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), making homogeneous binder viscosity level in a recycled mixture. Two aggregates (gneiss and granite), two RAP contents (15% and 30%) and two contents (none and 6%) of polymer modifier (LDPE) were used. Recycled mixture was prepared with two methods; method A and method F. To examine difference of binder oxidation level by type of material within a recycled mixture, Gel-permeation chromatography(GPC) analysis was performed on the binders mixed with coarse aggregates and matrix separately. Laboratory tests were performed for evaluation of rut resistance characteristics of each recycled mixture and these includes wheel tracking (WT) test and Kim test. Rut depth and dynamic stability were obtained from WT test and deformation strength $(S_D)$ was obtained from Kim test. The results of regression analysis was shown that correlation $(R^2)$ of F mixing mixtures was higher than one of A mixing mixtures. Therefore, F mixing mixtures showed more consistent rut resistance than h mixing mixtures.

Microstructure and chemical analysis of sintered bricks containing recycled wastes were investigated by SEM and EDS. The recycled wastes for which substitute ceramic raw materials were EAF (electric arc furnace) dust, fly ash and stone ash. Yellowish and brownish regions on the surface and brownish and blackish regions in the inside of bricks were observed. Main component of yellowish region on the surface turned out to be Zn. No chemical difference between the black-core region and brownish matrix. Mullite crystallites of 1 fm size were distributed in the inside of bricks and enclosed by glass phases. It seems that alumine-silicate mixtures of kaolin and fly ash were transformed to mullite crystallites during the sintering. Relatively large pores ot several ten fm size were observed in the black-core region in the inside of bricks. The main components of the inside of brick were Al and Si. The minor components were C, Na, Mg, K, Ca, and Fe. Particularly, the precipitates of Fe-rich crystallites were observed in the amorphous matrix. These precipitates were formed due to the local reduction atmosphere in the inside of bricks. Zn-rich covers were found on the surface of bricks because Zn diffused from the inside of bricks to the surface under the reduction atmosphere.

It was succeeded in synthesizing the $Al_2O_3$-SiC refractory powders, which is main raw material of AlSiCa, from the domestic Hadong Kaolin. The oxidation reaction of the synthesized $Al_2O_3$-SiC powder was examined. The activation energy for SiC in $Al_2O_3$-SiC powder was calculated to be $\Delta$G=74.86 KJ/mol in air, however the poor sinterability of the powders is thought to be due to the vaporization of SiC in $H_2$ atmosphere. The formation of the whisker-SiC gives the possibility in use for high temperature structural material over high temperature refractory brick.
The reaction properties of Pd. Pd-Ce and Pd-La catalysts supported on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ were investigated in the oxidation reaction of methane($CH_4$) exhausted from the compressed natural gas vehicle in a U-tube flow reactor with gas hourly space velocity of $72,000h^{-1}$. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), BET surface area and hydrogen chemisorption. Pd catalyst prepared by $Pd(NO_3)_2$ as a palladium precursor and calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ showed the highest activity for a methane oxidation. Catalytic activity of calcined $Pd/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ in which most of palladium was converted into palladium oxide species was higher than that of reduced $Pd/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ in which most of palladium existed in palladium metal by XRD. As increasing the number of reaction cycles in the wide range of redox, the catalytic activity of $Pd/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ was decreased and the highly active window became narrower. Lanthanum oxide promoted Pd catalyst, $Pd/La/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ showed enhanced thermal stability compared with $Pd/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ even after aging at $1000^{\circ}C$, which was ascribed to the role of La as a promoter to suppress the sintering of palladium metal and ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ support. Almost all of methane was removed by the reaction with NO at the redox ratio of 1.2 in case of oxygen excluded steam, but that activity was significantly decreased in the steam containing oxygen.
