  • 고체산화물 연료전지의 연결재의 필요한 물성으로는 공기극과 연료극을 차폐시켜줄 수 있는 고밀도와 구성 소재간의 전기적으로 연결될 수 있는 전기전도도 및 낮은 이온전도도. 산화극과 환원극에서 화학적 안정성과 타 구성 소재와의 열팽창 계수가 일치 등이 중요한 특성으로 필요하게 된다. 이를 위해 LaCrO3계 연결재가 주로 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 LCO계 연결제는 $1400^{\circ}C$ 이상의 높은 소결 온도와 이로 인한 Cr의 휘발로 인한 타 구성소재와의 반응 등으로 인해 저온소결의 필요성이 재기되고 있는 소재 이다. 본 연구에서는 LCO계 구성 소제에 소결 조제를 첨가하여 저온에서 결정성 및 소결거동, 전기적 특성을 평가하였다.

Release Characteristics of Fission Gases with Spent Fuel Burn-up during the Voloxidation and OREOX Processes (사용후핵연료의 연소도 변화에 따른 산화 및 OREOX 공정에서 핵분열기체 방출 특성)

  • Quantitative analysis on release behavior of the $^{85}Kr\;and\;^{14}C$ fission gases from the spent fuel material during the voloxidation and OREOX process has been performed. This thermal treatment step in a remote fabrication process to fabricate the dry-processed fuel from spent fuel has been used to obtain a fine powder The fractional release percent of fission gases from spent fuel materials with burn-up ranges from 27,000 MWd/tU to 65,000 MWd/tU have been evaluated by comparing the measured data with these initial inventories calculated by ORIGEN code. The release characteristics of $^{85}Kr\;and\;^{14}C$ fission gases during the voloxidation process at $500^{\circ}C$ seem to be closely linked to the degree of conversion efficiency of $UO_2\;to\;U_3O_8$ powder, and it is thus interpreted that the release from grain-boundary would be dominated during this step. The high release fraction of the fission gas from an oxidized powder during the OREOX process would be due to increase both in the gas diffusion at a temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ in a reduction step and in U atom mobility by the reduction. Therefore, it is believed that the fission gases release inventories in the OREOX step come from the inter-grain and inter-grain on $UO_2$ matrix. It is shown that the release fraction of $^{85}Kr\;and\;^{14}C$ fission gases during the voloxidation step would be increased as fuel burn-up increases, ranging from 6 to 12%, and a residual fission gas would completely be removed during the OREOX step. It seems that more effective treatment conditions for a removal of volatile fission gas are of powder formation by the oxidation in advance than the reduction of spent fuel at the higher temperature.

  • Single particle of nickel hydroxide and the surface-treated one with cobalt element were performed to review the effect of LiOH additive in alkaline electrolyte for Ni-MH batteries using microelectrode test system. As a result of cyclic voltammetry, the electrochemical behaviors such as the oxidation/reduction and oxygen evolution reaction are clearly observed for a single particle of nickel hydroxide, respectively. Furthermore, the reduction current peak of nickel hydroxide added with LiOH in electrolyte was very low and broad compared with the normal nickel hydroxide without an additive LiOH, which had a bad effect to the crystallization structure of nickel hydroxide. However, it was found that capacity and cycle properties of the nickel hydroxide treated with cobalt greatly increased by the addition of LiOH.

Redox Reaction Mechanisms of Thorium (IV) Complexes with Crown Ethers in Dimethylsulfoxide (디메틸술폭시드용매중에서 Thorium (IV)-Crown Ether 착물의 산화-환원 반응메카니즘)

  • The electrical conductances for the thorium (IV) complexes with crown ethers have been measured in DMSO, and water solvents, and the oxidation-reduction reaction mechanisms, electron number and diffusion coefficients in the reversible reduction process have been examined by polarography and cyclic voltammography. The dissociation mole ratio of $Th^{4+}$ and nitrate ion are 1:1 and in aprotic solvent, and 1:4 in protic solvent like as water. The limiting molar conductances of all complexes in aprotic solvent have been found to be in the range of $92.2{\times}159$ $ohm^{-1}cm^2mol^{-1}$. In aprotic solvent, DMSO, the reduction of each complex is reversible by one electron reduction of one step, and the range of diffusion coefficients is obserbed to be $5.83\;10^{-6}{\sim}6.90{\times}10^{-6}$. The complexes which have reduction step were hydrolyzed above at 1.8volt with reference saturated calomel electrode, generating the hydrogen gas.   • As the consumption of galvanized steels in cans and automobiles and the quantity of scraps increase, the recycling problems of EAF dust become a important problem. Valuable metals such as Fe, Zn, Pb are of continued interest to metallurgists. To recover the valuable metal and to remove the toxicity of EAF dust, high temperature smelting process is or researching as a pilot scale. The Reduction kinetics of Zn in EAF dust is so important in a view of the economic consideration of the process. In this study, the kinetics behavior of Zn in EAF dust were measured as a point of application in high temperature smelting process. The rate control step in ZnO and franklinite is revealed to be chemical reaction on the reaction surface.

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate behavior of steel surface oxidation with characteristics of the combustion. The excess entalphy combustion in porous media system was applied to implement the direct radiation heating system. The surface oxidation thickness (SOT) of fuel-lean was thicker than the SOT of fuel-rich. Also, the SOT was increased by increasing residence time. Detailed explanations were given by SEM and EDS analysis.

Influence of Reduction Atmosphere and Temperature on the Separability and Distribution Behavior of Fe from FeTiO3 via Sulfurization (고온 황화반응에 의한 FeTiO3로부터 Fe의 분리성과 분배거동에 미치는 환원/황화 분위기 및 온도의 영향)

  • $TiO_2$ as a raw material for producing titanium can be produced by carbon reduction of natural ilmenite ores over 1823 K and acid leaching of the obtained titanium-rich slag. However, the conventional process can cause very high energy consumption and a large amount of leaching residues. In the present study, we proposed the sulfurization of $FeTiO_3$ with $Na_2SO_4$ at temperatures below 1573 K, which can separate Fe in $FeTiO_3$ as the FeS based sulfide phase and Ti as the $TiO_2-Na_2O$ based oxide phase. This study is a fundamental study for sulfurization of $FeTiO_3$ to investigate the influence of reducing atmosphere, reaction temperature and the sulfur/Fe ratio on the separability and distribution behaviors of of Fe, Ti, and Na between the oxide phase and the sulfurized phase. At 1573 K and carbon saturation condition, the Fe can be separated from $FeTiO_3$ as Fe-C-S metal and a part of FeS, and the concentration of Fe in oxide decreased to 4 mass% after sulfurization.

Polarograms of Uranium(VI) and Rare Earth(III) Metal Complexes with Macrocyclic Ligands in Dimethylsulfoxide Solvent (디메틸술폭시드 용매중에서 거대고리리간드를 포함한 우라늄(VI)과 희토류(III) 금속 착물의 폴라로그램)

  • The uranium(VI) complexes with new unsaturated macrocyclic ligands of cryptand types and the neodymium(III) complexes with cryptand 222 and DBC ligands have been investigated polarographically in dimethylsulfoxide solvent. The reduction states, electron numbers involved in the reduction process, effects of the added acid on the polarograms of complexes, and the mechanisms of the reduction electrode reactions have been examined. The stability constants and mole-ratio of new complexes were also obtained by polarographic method. The reaction of ligands was controlled by the diffusion in the reduction with four electrons at a step, whereas the redox reaction with six electrons at three steps in $UO_2\;^{2+}$ complexes with macrocyclic ligands and the redox reaction with one electron at a step in $Nd^{3+}$ complexes with cryptand 222 and DBC have been observed. The imine ligands formed stable complexes with uranium(VI) above pH 7.0, and the neodymium(III) complexes with cryptand 222 and DBC ligands were stable above pH 4.0.

A Study on the Electronic Properties and Redox Reaction of Europium(Ⅲ) Complexes in Aprotic Solvent (반 양성자성 용매속에서 Europium(Ⅲ) 착물에 대한 전자적 성질과 산화 · 환원 반응에 관한 연구)

  • The chemical behaviour of the Eu(Ⅲ) complexes with organic ligands(tris[3-(trifluoromethylhydroxymethylene-camphorato)]) and tris[3-heptafluoropropylhydroxymethylene-camphorato)] has been investigated by the UV/vis-spectrophotometric, magnetic, and electrochemcial methods. The two or three energy absorption bands are observed by the spectra of these complexes. The magnitude of crystal field splitting energy, the spin pair energy and strength were obtained from the spectra of the complexes. These complexes are found to be delocalization, low-spin state, and strong bonding strenth of electron configuration. The magnetic dipolemoment are found to be diamagnetic. The redox reaction processes of complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry in aprotic solvent. The redox reaction processes of complexes are turned out to be single or double reaction with respect to one electron diffusion current.
