Finding the ideal location for your business is one of the most critical and important steps you will have to undertake. Otherwise, done in the wrong way you will only end up paying an expensive cost for an unsuitable location. Therefore to select the perfect location for your business, this study makes a reasonable and simple model for retail shops by calculating occupation population for each store applying Huffs "Probability Theory" to Hypermarket in Seoul. Then this study, based on occupation population, has divided every unit section (dong scale) into 4 market types which represent the state of the competitive markets, including monopoly, oligopoly, competitive, and noncompetitive markets. Consequently, the most reasonable place to locate a new store is where it can take most of the customers, that is, a place which can take non-competitive market as much as possible and is distant far enough from competitive market where competition is severe.

The locational characteristics of ceramic industry in Miryang city, Kyongnam province, were clarified by means of examining the process of its formation, spatial variation, locations and their changes. The government policy on industry and the business fluctuation are important in the quantitative changes of the industry. The spatial variation of industry toward the outer part of area are the results of equilibrium between the decrease of firms in inner city and the increase of firms in outer part. The births and deaths of firms played important role in the processes of spatial variations. The industry location has lasted by the accumulation of location decision of 'potential entrepreneurs' who learned knowledges on the industry and had personal contacts with the business-related persons for long time. The main factors on the locational decision of firms are personal factor, raw materials, land, water and market. The locational problems have mainly related with plant expansion, land, marketing, labour and capital. They caused investment changes and caused relocations of firms. Such disadvantages as raw material exhaustion, shortage of land and congestion within the agglomeration area, development of road transportation and local government policy on industry location, induced recent decentralization of industry to outer part.

This study analyzes the spatial characteristics of knowledge industry which has shown relatively rapid growth in the low-growth economy situation in recent years. In particular, we catch hold of the locational characteristics of the knowledge service industry which occupies the highest ratio by professional-expert jobs favoured by young generations, as well as estimate their occupational employment opportunities. By applying Location Quotient(LQ) and LISA, we reveal the spatial distribution patterns of publishing business, information service business and education service business in the Seoul Metropolitan area, and examine the changes in the spatial patterns during the last ten years. In order to understand the socio-economic factors which explain their locations, we apply the stepwise multiple regression analysis. Furthermore, we predict the changes distribution of Knowledge service industrial employment by applying Markov Chain Model. As the result, we found their clusters at the specific locations, while there is the significant variations in the socio-economic variables related their locations respectively. The related job opportunities of the knowledge service businesses in the Seoul Metropolitan area are predicted steady growth trend for the next four years, even though dull or stagnant trend is expected for other industries. This study provides basic resources to the planning for young generation employment problem.

월드컵을 계기로 부각된 우리나라의 'IT강국 이미지'가 얼마나 지속될 것으로 보느냐는 질문에 대다수(87.0%)의 응답자가 향후 IT에 대한 관심과 투자가 지속된다면 IT강국의 입지가 공고히 될 것으로 응답했다. 그러나 IT 열풍을 일시적인 과열현상으로 보고, 월드컵의 열기가 식으면 IT에 대한 관심도 급속히 냉각될 것이라는 견해도 8.1%로 나와 IT산업에 대한 지원과 투자가 중요한 것으로 나타났다.
