The Mediating Effect of Self-efficacy on the Relationship between the Professionalism Perception and the Job Satisfaction of Employees in Community Rehabilitation Facilities for the Disabled (장애인지역사회재활시설 종사자의 전문성인식과 직무만족의 관계에서 자아효능감의 매개효과)

  • This study analyzed the relationship between the professionalism perception and the job satisfaction of employees in community rehabilitation facilities for the disabled. This also examined the mediating effect of self-efficacy between the two variables. The questionnaire survey was conducted on employees in the facilities in Chungnam and Daejeon areas. And the 376 materials was used for analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows : 1) the professionalism perception and the self-efficacy have positive statistic association with job satisfaction of employees in the facilities. 2) the self-efficacy is found to partially mediate between the professionalism perception and the job satisfaction. Based on the results of this research, several measures can be presented to increase job satisfaction in terms of improving of the professionalism perception and the self-efficacy of employees in the facilities.

Survey on Educational Needs for Workers in Social Welfare Facilities in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (제주특별자치도 사회복지시설종사자의 교육요구 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the educational needs among social workers in social welfare facilities in Jeju province concerning lack of knowledge, skill and attitude, and establish the systematic education for prosecuting diverse training and suggest fundamental data for designing future curriculum. The results of analyzing top 10 educational needs for the workers are as follows: firstly technics for managing crises, understanding and practice for clients (characteristics, human right, safety and health), case management (basic), counseling technique (basic), case management (advanced), counseling technique (advanced), planning and operating social welfare program, managing client response and emotional labor, improving competence for communication (between staffs and clients, etc.), and finally assessing project outcome (project plan, execution, management and assessment, etc.). Social workers in social welfare facilities in the area have highly recognized the necessity of profession centred education. However, they had low satisfaction with the diversity of profession education in the Jeju island and the systematic training courses. This survey suggests the various results concerning qualitative growth of profession education, expansion of job-centred curriculum and security of professional instructors to fulfil systematic education training for social workers.

  • This study was to empirically analyze the mediating effect of burnout in the effect of job stress on job satisfaction of workers in the elderly welfare center after COVID-19. Through this, the purpose of this study was to improve the quality of social welfare services and to provide basic data that can increase job satisfaction of Elderly Welfare Center workers. The results of this study are as follows. First, job stress had a negative effect on job satisfaction. Second, burnout had a partial mediating effect on the effect of job stress on job satisfaction. Based on the results of this study, the following suggestions were made. First, the workload should be controlled to reduce the job stress of the workers in the elderly welfare center. Second, psychological and emotional support programs should be provided to reduce the burnout of the elderly welfare center workers.

Difference between Employees and Users of Welfare Institutions for the Disabled in Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4차 산업혁명시대의 장애인복지기관에 대한 종사자와 이용자간 인식)

  • This paper aims to identify differences between the perception of the fourth industrial revolution of the disabled who use the IL center or the disabled in the community and its workers. It surveyed 178 disabled users and 173 workers at eight centers of the handicapped in Busan and South Gyeongsang-do and conducted an analysis on their interests in the fourth industry, awareness of the latest technology, and prediction of changes in the disabled welfare center. Although worker's interest in the fourth industry was higher than their users, their perception of the degree of preparation by the disabled welfare centers indicated that the worker's level of future institutional readiness was lower than that of the users. The results will be used to help set directions for future guidelines and plans for the welfare of the disabled.

  • This study verified the influence of supervision on job burnout and mediating effect of self-efficacy of workers in leisure welfare centers for the elderly. A survey of 275 employees of 15 facilities of Daejeon and Chungnam area was conducted. Main analysis methods are confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis. The analysis result is that supervision influences job burnout and mediating effect of self-efficacy is proved. Considering the analysis result, some countermeasures can be proposed to alleviate the job burnout. For improving the supervision of workers, the strengthening of educational and evaluational supervision, the provision of education and training for supervisors and individualized supervision, and the inclusion of supervision in facility evaluation are necessary. To improve employees' self-efficacy, it is necessary to provide capacity-building programs and emotional support services, education and administrative support for improving ethical awareness, and self-leadership.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of organizational justice and job stress on social worker's job satisfaction between social welfare using facilities and community(living) facilities. The results of this study were as follow. First, social worker's organizational justice's 3 sub-dimensions; distributive justice, procedural justice, interactional justice and job satisfaction are same result through the latent average analysis between social welfare using facilities and community(living) facilities. however, social worker who works in living facilities job stress is higher level than using facilities worker. Second, distributive justice, interactional justice has a positive effect to job stress but procedural justice has not statistical effect. In addition, only interactional justice have a negative effect to job stress, job stress have negative effect to job satisfaction. Third, In this study, established structural model are existed partially difference between group of facility types.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify influences of growth needs of staff at the welfare center for people with disabilities on customer orientation and mediation effect of participative decision-making on this relationship. For this purpose, we conducted a survey of 900 staff at welfare centers for people with disabilities nationwide, and 847 data were finally analysed. In order to verify mediation effect of participative decision-making, the hierarchical regression model proposed by Baron and Kenny was conducted. The main results were as follows. First, growth needs influenced positively on customer orientation. Second, participative decision-making mediated this relationship. Based on findings, this study suggested alternatives in terms of individual and organizational aspects to improve customer orientation of them.

Effects of Working Conditions for Social Workers on Turnover Intentions: Focusing on mediating effects of job satisfaction (사회복지종사자의 근로조건이 이직의도에 미치는 영향: 직무만족의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to examine the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between working conditions, including wages, employment status, working hours, tenure, and turnover intention among social welfare workers. To achieve this, path analysis was conducted using SPSS and AMOS with data from the 2020 Survey on Compensation Levels and Working Conditions of Social Welfare Facility Workers conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The direct and indirect effects of variables were verified and compared. The analysis results revealed that job satisfaction among social welfare workers showed a complete mediating effect in the relationship between wages, working hours, and turnover intention, while it showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between employment status, tenure, and turnover intention. Based on these findings, the study proposes measures to reduce turnover intention among social welfare workers, such as ensuring employment stability, managing job satisfaction based on tenure, and enhancing job satisfaction through wage and working hour management.

  • This research verified the relationship between the job satisfaction and the burnout of workers in rehabilitation facilities providing services to the disabled. And this study examined the mediating effect of organizational commitment between the two variables. A survey of workers of the 14 facilities of Daejeon/Chungnam area and 363 materials was analyzed. The analysis results of this research are as follows : 1) the workers' job satisfaction influenced the burnout negatively. 2) the organizational commitment is was found to mediate between the job satisfaction and the burnout. Based on the analysis results, several measures can be presented to reduce the workers' burnout. We need to raise the worker's job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

A Study on Client Violence Against Social Workers: in the Field of Child Protection Services (사회복지 실천현장의 클라이언트 폭력 연구: 아동보호서비스 현장을 중심으로)

  • Based on the assumption that client violence against social workers may impede the effectiveness of social work intervention, this study investigated the prevalence and negative effects of client violence among child protection workers. A national sample of 207 child protection workers participated to the study. The results showed that 62.8%(n=130) of the respondents experienced violence by children's parents or other guardians in the year of 2007. This prevalence was similar level to that of other service fields. However, perception about client violence of the respondents was more serious than workers in other fields. Respondents who have experienced client violence showed emotional reactions such as angry, burnout, frustrated. This emotional reaction impacted more on woman respondents. This study further found that client violence had negative effects on such work-related variables as workers job satisfaction and intention to leave.
