  • This study is a user experience research on the current usage of TV multiview and evaluating the usability. From traditional TV viewing to connecting laptop or mobile devices, the scope of using TV has expanded and evolved to multipurpose. Utilizing the multiview feature offers new TV experiences, but research on its usability has not been actively conducted yet. In this research, a case study and survey were held prior to usability testing to identify user needs and behavior of TV multiview. After reviewing the results, we ran a task-based usability testing and in-depth interview. As a result, users preferred different ways of accessing and using multiview based on their situation, and the current user interface needed improvement for easier, intuitive use. This study is expected to contribute to the development of improving user experience in TV multiview.

  • The study was conducted to analyze the extent of students' creativity through the use of scaffolding composed of different kinds of experience in making insights on problem solving and to investigate the function of a new scaffolding type which is not used in accomplishing a phase of activity but in having an insight. The students' achievements in problem solving given the scaffolding for on-site experience were compared with those given the scaffolding using stories. Also, the extent of creativity of the first- and sixth- grade students using the two types of scaffolding were investigated as they carried out picture completion task from TTCT. The results of the study showed that the control groups not given the scaffolding in post-test did not advance in creativity but experimental groups given the scaffolding showed improvement in some subordinate elements after scaffolding. Moreover, scaffolding using stories were more effective in enhancing the students' creativity than the scaffolding using on-site experience.

  • The purpose of this study was to design a competence teaching-learning model that could help college students improve their computational thinking among core competences in SW education. A competence teaching-learning model, UDDPAAP (Unplugged-Demonstration-Decomposition-Pattern Recognition-Abstraction-Algorithm-Programming), was designed by analyzing competences of learners with no experience in software coding, by reconstructing DMM, DDD, and DPAA among the five existing SW-based teaching-learning models, and by analyzing unplugged activity and the Bebras challenge computational thinking scale carefully. The unplugged activity partially adapted to instruction for college students and some items chosen from the Bebras challenge computational thinking scale were applied to the existing teaching-learning model. To determine the effects of the study, pretest was conducted in freshmen for computational thinking and self-confidence on the basis of the experience in SW and computer information literacy education, and posttest following instruction applying the UDDPAAP teaching-learning model. The students provided with SW education based on the UDDPAAP teaching-learning model saw their computational thinking competence improved.

  • This study examines how mental health promotion programs based on positive psychology brings changes in pleasant life, engaged life and meaningful life. This research considers 15 programs featuring 178 students during one semester. Pre-and-post examination of psychological well-being, depression and optimism were conducted to identify changes before and after the program. 56 students (32%) showed positive changes in all 3 factors. 15 students among them were selected for an in-depth interview for a qualitative case study. As a result of the quantitative study, a mental health promotion program based on positive psychology showed statistically significant positive changes in the pre-and-post examinations of psychological well-being, depression and optimism. Mental health promotion programs based on positive psychology showed positive changes in mental, cognitive and behavior perspectives in the fields of pleasant life, engaged life and meaningful life of college students. Specifically, positive psychology and thinking programs influenced students to become more enthusiastic and active in pursuing a pleasant life. Secondly, positive psychology intervention concerning engaged life brought a recognition of higher 'self-acceptance'. Thirdly, each individual spent more time and effort to experience more satisfaction and accomplishments. Lastly, subjects showed greater optimism after the program. Through the searching gratitude program, study subjects expanded their appreciation of their relationships with others.

  • This study analyzed factors affecting the information literacy of students and the effects of information literacy education. Based on the results. the study aimed at presenting plans for the enhancement of information literacy education hereafter. The differences in the mean value of computer operating skill, library related knowledge, frequency of library use and information literacy prior to and after taking the course in information literacy education were compared. The result of hypothesis testing on the effects of previous educational experience, computer operating skill, knowledge of library use and frequency of information use have on information literacy, as well as the relationship between course satisfaction and opinion after taking the lecture were all adopted. The result of the study implied that more systematic and concrete information literacy education program is urgently needed.

  • This study is a report about the two summer camps of 2009 and 2010, which were held by some gifted classes of Liberal Arts areas in Chungnam Province. The students' self- directed methods, making an own project topic and an outline plan for that by students themselves before the camp, raised up the students' satisfaction of the camp effectively. Staying with their peer students and teachers for 3 days gave the gifted students a chance for relationship, self-confidence, and self-sufficiency. These joint summer camps provided the students with cognitive development, motivations and a chance to meet other gifted students. Teachers' preparation for the camp, their concrete feedback to each student's project, and students' time spending on one's own camp project were correlated with the students' satisfaction of the camp program. Experience of teacher training in gifted education made significant differences in understanding gifted students and expectations of students' social and emotional development throughout and after the camp.

In order to do the present research, I have taken 16 high school students, who want to join to this research, within A city. I have separated those students into two groups: an experienced group of 8 students and a controlled group of 8 students. Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test were adopted to analyze collected data from the peer counseling program. The results of this research indicated that the level of communication skills have been increased after peer counseling intervention program of the experienced group, and the level of occupational stress also have been increased after peer counseling intervention program of the experienced group. This result showed that, the peer counseling program could stimulate the communication skills and social efficacy of experienced group significantly comparing with the result of the controlled group. From the result I have confirmed that, the peer counseling program have positive effects to increase the high school students' communication skills and social efficacy.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest Reciprocal Peer Tutoring(RPT) for mathematics underachieving students as one way of the instructional strategies to supplement their lack of mathematics learning and to provide them with successful experiences in learning mathematics. We defined underachieving student in mathematics as the student whose mathematics achievement was high or middle level in the middle school but became lower in high school. Four mathematics underachievers voluntarily participated in this study. We examined the effects and roles of RPT by focusing on their positive change in the affective domain. RPT was conducted for about three months, including pre-training, pretest, and posttest. As the results of this research, RPT has generally made positive changes in the affective domain of underachieving mathematics students. Although four students did not show the same pattern of change and the sub-elements of positive change were different for each student, RPT provided opportunities for 4 all students to experience positive change.

  • This study is to understand those determinants of performance differences of Korean small and medium firm's subsidiaries in Vietnam based on the resource based view. We have visited 21 Korean SME's subsidiaries in Hochiminh city area in Vietnam and interviewed CEO of those subsidiaries for 1-2 hours to make each case. Based on case content analysis, we can get those results that eight management capabilities such as securing competent local managers, clear and smooth communication with local employees, establishing good labor-management relations, raising the rate of factory operation and subcontracting, firm specific quality control system, timely financing, establishing good relationships with local communities, and fostering friendly relations with local public officers are major determinants of performance differences. Also we can know that various factors including local experiences in Vietnam have influenced those management capabilities. To be a high performer in Vietnam, foreign subsidiaries of Korean SMEs have to build and develop major management capabilities continuously.
