가정용 전자렌지를 사용한 천연규석분말과 Al분말 성형체로부터 사이알론상 합성에 관한 연구 (The Sialon Synthesis from Natural Silica and Al Powder Mixture by Using Home-style Microwave Oven)

  • 가정용 전자 렌지를 사용하여, SiO2-Al 분말 성형체로 이루어진 시편을 질화분위기에서 점화시켰다. 연소파대가 전파되면서 미반응물없이 Si와 AIN와 Al2O3를 석출하였으며, 냉각과정을 거치지 않고 곧바로 석출물들이 마이크로파를 흡수하여 고온에서 가열되어서 사이알론상을 합성하였다. 전자렌지안에서 SiO2-Al 분말성형체로부터 사이알론상들의 합성율은 일반적인 로내에서의 합성율보다 높았고, 공정시간이 불과 1시간내외에 이어서 에너지와 제조경비를 절약할 수 있었다.

소결보조재 $Al_2O_3$$Y_2O_3$종류에 따른 사이알론 세라믹스의 특성 (Characteristics of Sialon ceramics by Kinds of Additive $Al_2O_3\;and\;Y_2O_3$)

  • Various Sialon ceramics were fabricated by hot-pressing mixtures of $Si_3N_4$ with additive $Y_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$. The polished specimen of SiAlON $I{\sim}III$ went on increasing in strength by heat treatment, heat treated non-polished specimen were similar or up to polished specimen in strength. The polished specimen of both SiAlON IV and V showed a very high strength, but were not Increasing of strength by heat treatment. All specimens were fractured on the surface and at the inner flaws. Surface fractures were initiated from the polished surface flaw and corner flaw. Inner fractures were initiated from an internal defect.

고강도 사이알론의 균열치유와 고온강도 특성 (Characteristics of Crack Healing and High Temperature Strength of High Strength Sialon)

  • Sialon was produced by hot-pressing the mixtures of $Si_3N_4$, AlN and $Y_2O_3$ powders. All fracture tests were performed on a three-point loading system with a 30 mm bending span. Fracture toughness and Vickers hardness of smooth specimen were average 7.05 $MPa{\cdot}m^{0.5}$ and Hv = 1580, respectively. Density of three kinds of specimens, smooth specimen, smooth and healed specimen, smooth with $SiO_2$ colloidal coating and healed specimen, had beyond 99 % of theoretical density. Bending strength of smooth healed specimens had high strength more than 1 GPa. Crack healed specimens recovered as strength as smooth specimen. That is, cracked specimen with $SiO_2$ colloidal coating on cracked part recovered strength by heat treatment, completely. Crack healing of $Si_3N_4$ composite ceramics had contributed glassy $SiO_2$ to strength recovery. Limiting high temperature for bending strength of heat treated smooth specimen for bending strength was about 1273 K.

이연에 의한 $\beta$$-사이알론의 열분해 (Thermal Decomposition of $\beta$$-Sialon by Graphite)

  • β'-sialon(Z=2.7) specimens with <30%wt. graphite as a reducing agent were decomposed at 1350°up to 1,450℃ under the atmosphere of 90% N2-10%H2. The decomposition of β'-sialon was calculated from the change in Z-value, and the formation of new minerals was identified from X-ray diffraction patterns. The decomposition reactions of sialon were considered to yield a stable sialon close to β-silicon nitride and some aluminum compounds according to the following equations; β'-sialon(s)+C(s)+N2(g)→β2-sialon(metastable)+β3-sialon(stalbe phase) β2-sialon(s)+C(s)+N2(g)→β3-sialon(s)+AlN(s)+α-Al2O3(s)+15R(s)+SiO(g)+Al2O(g)+CO(g) Z-value; β2( 3.5)>β'( 2.7)>β3( 0.5) The decomposition rate of sialon was controlled by two mechanisms ; One was characterized by the interface area of contact, corresponding to an apparent activation energy of 50.5Kcal/mol in the initial stage, and the other by the diffusion, corresponding to that of 104.3Kcal/mol in the final stage of the decomposition.

알콕사이드와 사이알론 합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Synthesis of Alkoxides and Sialon)

  • $Al(OC_3H_7)_3$$Si(OC_2H_5)_4$, 알콕사이드를 합성하고 그 물질을 각각 또는 혼합가수분해하여 $Al_2O_3,\;SiO_2,\;Al_2O_3-SiO_2$계의 물질을 얻고 $Al_2O_3-SiO_2$계에 환원제로서 carbon black을 혼합하여 $N_2$분위기에서 환원질화반응시켜 고순도의 ${\beta}-sialon$ 초미분말을 합성하였다. 가수분해 과정에서는 반응조건이 가수분해반응에 미치는 영향을 알아보았고, 환원질화반응 과정에서는 중간생성물을 분석하여 반응경로를 추정하고 ${\beta}-sialon$의 생성반응에 대한 동력학적 고찰을 하였다.
