Design of a Background Image Based Multi-Degree-of-Freedom Pointing Device (배경영상 기반 다자유도 포인팅 디바이스의 설계)

  • As interactive multimedia have come into wide use, user interfaces such as remote controllers or classical computer mice have several limitations that cause inconvenience. We propose a vision-based pointing device to resolve this problem. We analyzed the moving image from the camera which is embedded in the pointing device and estimate the movement of the device. The pose of the cursor can be determined from this result. To process in the real time, we used the low resolution of $288{\times}208$ pixel camera and comer points of the screen were tracked using local optical flow method. The distance from screen and device was calculated from the size of screen in the image. The proposed device has simple configurations, low cost, easy use, and intuitive handhold operation like traditional mice. Moreover it shows reliable performance even in the dark condition.

  • Recently, as advancing the technologies for Web 3D and Virtual Reality, the studies have been progressed actively to provide three dimensional information on the web. Especially, the various applications for providing urban information in 3D space have been developed using EAI(External Authoring Interface) that serves an interface between VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language), standard language for embodying virtual reality, and JAVA applet in HTML. In this study, as constructing 3D virtual city information using Digital Map, IKONOS satellite image, VRML and so on, we could provide users which need several information with building location and various urban living information. In addition, applying 3D skills such as texturing, panorama and navigation, users were enabled to perform various route searching and scenery analysis. Finally, to serve urban living information in real time, we designed to search information faster through interfacing database and to update data using ASP(Active Server Page) on web.

  • A digital content have been utilized extensively without being limited to one territory of communication, computer, broadcasting, Mobile etc. A digital contents industry have been raised to a key point industry of a knowledge information society. An information infra setup of a global unit was processing to the development of Internet therefor copyright protection a digital contents and system for the officer have been desired. Like this, according as digital contents do fetters to MPEG-4 is circulated, copyright problem was risen. So, people had a lot of interests to protect and manage copyright. Hereupon, MPEG of the IS0/IEC established IPMP(Intellectual Property Management and Protection) standard, and supplements and corrects continuously standard. Therefore, existing system does fetters to MPEG-4 need system that process IPMP information. Hereupon. in this paper, designed system module that is processed by IPMP extension standard that progress now, and embodied copyright protection and management system that user can insert and update IPMP information efficiently within whole or specification part of MPEG-4 digital contents.

  • As security and surveillance have become the center of interest, remote controlled CCTV(Closed-Circuit Television) market has been formed while rapid development of digital image compression technology and Internet triggered the advent of web cameras. The characteristic of web camera is that it can provide users with higher quality image than CCTV at any place where Internet access is available. However, As for the system administrator, the existing web camera have disadvantage in that they allows users only. who are connected to the server of the web camera, to see the image from it. In this paper, in order to make up for this defect, designed multi-vision interface showing multi images on single screen and, for the purpose of the improvement in efficiency, the functions of saving images and of scheduling the time to save the images.

Hand Interface using Intelligent Recognition for Control of Mouse Pointer (마우스 포인터 제어를 위해 지능형 인식을 이용한 핸드 인터페이스)

  • In this paper, the proposed method is recognized the hands using color information with input image of the camera. It controls the mouse pointer using recognized hands. In addition, specific commands with the mouse pointer is designed to perform. Most users felt uncomfortable since existing interaction multimedia systems depend on a particular external input devices such as pens and mouse However, the proposed method is to compensate for these shortcomings by hand without the external input devices. In experimental methods, hand areas and backgrounds are separated using color information obtaining image from camera. And coordinates of the mouse pointer is determined using coordinates of the center of a separate hand. The mouse pointer is located in pre-filled area using these coordinates, and the robot will move and execute with the command. In experimental results, the recognition of the proposed method is more accurate but is still sensitive to the change of color of light.

  • Wireless Docking system can provide enhanced convenience to user experience of handheld device such as smart phone by using previously deployed peripheral devises such as monitor and keyboard. In this environment, user can easily use the handheld device with variable peripheral devices at any docking system place. This system would be composed of peripherals except host computing device contrarily to previous desktop and laptop environment. For this system, Wi-Fi Alliance has been developing standard technology based on Wi-Fi Direct(Wi-Fi Peer-to-Peer Technical Specifications v1.2, 2010) technology. However, this system can make a problem which may lead to complex connectivity on handheld device due to non-compatible communication interface. To address given problem, we designed a new method of Bluetooth tunneling technology via previous Wi-Fi Direct communication, and evaluated it with experiment results.

  • There are currently various file encryption solutions for encrypting and storing files on disk. However, the existing file encryption solutions handle encryption and decryption all at once by file or directory. In this paper, we propose a system call supporting partial encryption function of the file. The user sets the encryption information with the system call interface at a portion where encryption of the file data is desired. And then the user writes file data, the data is encrypted and stored. Also if the user sets decryption information and reads the file data, the necessary part is decrypted by applying the set information. For the proposed system call, It consists of inspection module, management module, encryption module, decryption module, and HMAC module as per required system call. And it was implemented on the Linux environment. Also the operation of implemented system call was verified on the development board, and the performance was analyzed by measuring performance speed.

  • This paper introduces an implementation of the diagnosis software for CC-NUMA systems. The CC-NUMA architecture is composed of two or more SMP nodes installed with the specialized hardware to provide cache-coherent operation and the high-speed interconnection network to connect each node, it enables both the high performance and the high scalability. While the CC-NUMA system provides the single system image in the operating system aspect, it should be considered the multiple systems by the diagnostic software. Thus it is difficult to diagnose and manage CC-NUMA system using commercial administration software due to characteristics of the complicated architecture. The remote diagnosis and management are also required with a view to reduce Total Cost of Ownership. In this paper, we design diagnostic software to manage CC-NUMA server system, and propose its mechanism in client-server manner to support remote administration. Additionally, we use the Java-based user interface to enlarge an administrator's accessibility.

  • The most commonly used navigation systems work on Windows CE platforms. Linux-based embedded terminals have price competitiveness, because Linux is a free operation system. In order to develop map services on Linux-based embedded terminals, there were a number of technical hurdles that had to be resolved. Since the Linux-based embedded terminals is a low power, low cost, and small size platform with low processing capabilities, we must have developed the spatial database engine that minimize the number of disk accesses. We solved problems that are the processing korean language and the lack of debugging tools on Linux. In this paper, we has developed the spatial database engine and user interfaces on hand-held terminals based on embedded Linux for implementing the location based map system With view of this implementation results, we confirmed the possibility of using our embedded linux terminal as telematics terminals or navigation terminals.

Sensor Data Processing System using Sensor Service Description Language (센서 서비스 기술 언어를 이용한 센서 데이터 처리 시스템)

  • As ubiquitous environment rapidly emerges due to the development of network and information communication technology, ubiquitous computing is being noticed as a technology that will take the lead in information technology industry of the future. To the end, the data recognized from each sensors, collected and processed need be transferred to applied service so that they may be used as data for providing sum to users. However, in reality as the definitions of metadata and platform for each sensor are not clear, approach from applied service for data use is difficult and there are limitations in transferring sensor measurement data of the applied service because of the difference of platform and protocol. In this paper, we designed sensor service technology language that expresses sensor and measurement data and describes the service though sensor data service. Also the researcher implemented a sensor data processing system that transfers sensor data to the applied service by using web service. The thesis will apply a reference model for standardization to guarantee mutual compatibility in exchanging sensor data through the system.
