To improve and optimize user interfaces of the system, the accurate understanding of users' behavior is an essential prerequisite. Direct questions depend on user' s ambiguous memory and usability tests depend on the researchers' intention instead of users'. Furthermore, they do not provide with natural context of use. In this paper we described the work which examined users' behavior through log analysis in their own environment. 50 users were recruited by consumer segmentation and they were downloaded logging-software in their mobile phone. After two weeks, logged data were gathered and analyzed. The complementary methods such as a user diary and an interview were conducted. The result of the analysis showed the frequency of menu and key access, used time, data storage and several usage patterns. Also, it was found that users could be segmented into new groups by their usage patterns. The improvement of the mobile phone user interface was proposed based on the result of this study.

본 연구에서는 위성영상 상황판연계·표출시스템을 개발하기 위하여 사용자 요구사항을 조사 및 분석하였고 분석 결과, 요구사항정의서와 시스템규격서를 도출하였다. 먼저, 위성영상 상황판 연계·표출시스템의 요구사항 조사를 위해 중앙재난안전상황실 근무자를 대상으로 설문(수요) 조사를 수행하였다. 상황실 실무자별 요구사항을 취합한 설문 결과와 연구 1차년에 수행했던 상황실 근무자 인터뷰 결과, RFP, 연구단 내부협의 결과를 검토하여 정보제공 측면 및 위성영상 활용 측면의 사용자 요구사항을 도출하였다. 도출 결과를 기반으로 시스템 요구사항을 정의한 결과, 시스템 기능은 54개의 기능과 9개의 비기능으로 분류되었다. 또한, 시스템 구성요소별 요구기능을 세부적으로 구분하여 요구사항정의서를 작성하였다. 시스템 요구기능 분류는 사용자기능/관리자기능/사용자서비스/사용자인터페이스/시스템기능/시스템서비스 등으로 상세 구분하였다. 마지막으로, 연구단 협의를 통해 요구사항정의서를 기반의 시스템규격서를 작성하였다. 시스템규격서는 일반규격, 각 시스템별 성능규격, 인터페이스규격, 기능규격으로 구분하여 세부 정의하였다. 본 연구내용은 지속적인 연구 개발을 통해 위성영상 상황판연계·표출시스템 설계 자료로 활용될 계획이며, 향후 위성영상을 활용한 재난안전 상황관리 대비/대응 체계 마련에 도움을 줄 것으로 사료된다.

유비쿼터스 시대의 도래에 따른 서비스의 고급화는 다양한 형태의 사용자 단말기의 개발을 유도 하였으며, 이러한 사용자 단말기의 변화는 다양한 형태의 인간친화형 사용자 인터페이스의 개발로 이어지게 되었다. 이러한 다양한 형태의 인간친화형 사용자 인터페이스 중, 인간의 뇌를 활용한 사용자 인터페이스, 즉 BCI에 관한 연구가 산발적으로 다양하게 진행되고 있다. 현재 진행되어지고 있는 다양한 형태의 BCI관련 연구들은, 연구 초기 수준을 극복하지 못하는 실정이며, 이러한 연구 개발의 지체 이유로는 DB구축부터 시작한 체계적인 연구가 이루어지고 있지 않는 점을 들 수 있다. 또한, 뇌파 신호의 수집 시 효율적인 피험자 지침 관련 연구가 없는 실정이며 기 구현되어진 대부분의 시스템이 로컬시스템 형태로 구성되어져 DB 구축 시 한정적인 피험자 수, 대용량의 뇌파 DB수집 시 한계, 뇌파 DB의 신뢰성이 저하되는 문제점을 야기한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 VoiceXML을 활용한 온라인 기반의 DB구축 시스템 구현을 제안 하며 신뢰성 및 객관성을 확보 하고자 한다.

The previous research suggested a self-report questionnaire-type scale to measure a user's emotions naturally expressed while using a product. Using the scale, this research measured their emotions expressed while users use cellular phones naturally for a certain time without setting tasks. The results suggest that the cellular phone of high usability lead to higher 'Satisfaction in Usability' and lower 'Uncomfortableness' than the cellular phone with usability flaws. On the other hand the cellular phone with usability flaws lead to higher 'Uncomfortableness' and lower 'Satisfaction in Usability' but higher in other representative emotions such as 'Aesthetics', 'Novelty', 'Pleasure', and 'Excellence' than the other cellular phone. It can be insufficient to define the correlation between the product usability and the user's emotions based on the results of this research: however, the correlation between these two factors will be discovered in more detail by analyzing the changes of the user's emotions according to the length of time of using cellular phone.

Initial stage of emotion has a great influence on building up product image and impression. Because of its influencing effects, measuring initial stage of emotion has potential to be a key factor for designers and marketers to achieve a distinct product concept. While many researchers have studied this topic with the emotion measurement method in product use stage, there are very few cases specialized in the initial stage of emotion. Even though present emotion measurement methods have difficulties to derive accurate user's initial stage of emotion, most case of initial emotion study applies these defective methods. The purpose of this study is to develop initial stage of emotion measurement method and apply this method to real product context. In the design of the initial stage of emotion measurement method, noticeable characteristics of initial stage of emotion were explored and initial emotion measurement framework was presented. Based on this framework, Initial Emotion Measurement System(IEMS) was suggested. This method collects user's eye movement, behavior and verbal data accurately and objectively.

The purpose of this study is to define determinants of VoIP user acceptance and to verify significant causality among latent variables - performance expectancy, effort expectancy, cost expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, behavioral intend, use behavior - based on UTAUT model. We presented the expanded hypotheses including the new factor, cost expectancy and analyzed the moderating effect of user age, gender and usage experience variables. For a accuracy of predicted results, we focused on survey analysis with 641 real user samples. Compared to previous studies, it is meaningful that this research verified the conceptual difference between behavioral intention and usage behavior. As a result, all proposed hypotheses accepted and moderating effects are supported significantly in age and use experience moderating variables.

In this paper, we propose a methodology to estimate the number of users in e-Commerce systems. There have been a lot of previous work under the closed-LAN system environment. But the study on the number of acceptable users in real network environment is hard to find in the literature. Our research applies a Hybrid Simulation by using QoS results for end-to-end high-speed Internet service, and experiments are performed with regard to LAN and WAN, network equipments, and various network bandwidth. As result of the experiments we observed that the response time of high-speed Internet service media(Wireless LAN, ADSL, Cable, VDSL) depends heavily on the sequence and depth of transactions and on the ratio of transactional and non-transactional interactions. That is, as the network and application get more loads, the number of acceptable users decreases. By adding a cache server and an L4 switch to the simulation model, we analysed the changes in the number of users and client response time.

This study examined how users use smart speakers in cooking situations. Skilled and unskilled participants cooked a new recipe while following voice instructions delivered by a smart speaker. The results from video recordings of their cooking, think-aloud protocols, and interviews showed that the smart speakers freed users' hands, allowing them to cook while checking recipes. The lack of visual information did not pose a serious challenge to the cooking task, but impacted cooking quality. The implications for VUI-based recipe service designs are discussed.

Sound quality evaluation is one of the psychoacoustic methods to measure subjective judgements for sound color. The purpose of this study is to investigate sound quality benefits of bimodal users by comparing sound quality scores between bimodal hearing condition and unilateral cochlear implant(CI) condition as a preliminary study. Thirteen bimodal users and seven unilateral CI users were participated in this study. Audiologists performed pure tone and speech audiometry and measured functional gain and real-ear insertion gain. Subjective assessment of sound quality was followed with four sounds including violin sound, male and female voices, and refrigerator noise. Participants judged the sound quality with six sound quality index. Bimodal users showed mean 0.8 points more sound quality improvements in bimodal condition than unilateral CI condition. Group comparison between bimodal and unilateral CI users showed no differences. A follow-up study of sound quality tools and methods should be considered to evaluate subjective bimodal benefits of cochlear implant users.

트랜스코딩이란 기존 유선 환경에서 제공되는 웹 컨텐츠를 특정 환경에 적합한 형태로 변환 하는 것을 의미한다. 그러나 이와 관련된 기존 연구에서는 사용자가 요구하는 사항만을 변환 하거나 서비스 제공자가 일방적으로 변환하여 웹 컨텐츠를 제공하고 있다. 따라서 이슈변화에 따른 사용자의 대처능력이 떨어지기 때문에 사용자의 사용성이 저하되며, 사용자에게 무의미한 정보 제공의 가능성이 있다. 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 사용자 프로파일에 의한 요구사항과 서비스 제공자의 의견을 함께 제공 할 수 있는 변환 기법을 제안 하고, 특히 멀티미디어 뉴스 제작을 위한 표준인 NewsML을 대상으로 적용하였다. 사용자 프로파일에 의한 요구 사항은 XML 문서의 구조정보를 이용하여 자동으로 추출하고, 서비스 제공자의 의견은 문서의 레이아웃(Layout) 정보를 가지고, 어노테이션(Annotation) 기법을 활용하여 수동으로 추출한다. 그 결과, 사용자 관점에 부합하는 변환이 이루어지고, 다양한 이슈변화에 대한 대처능력이 향상되어 사용자의 사용성이 증대 되었다
