  • In this study, eye tracking was used for the appearance of the robot during the social robot design study. During the research, each part of the social robot was designated as AOI (Areas of Interests), and the user's attitude was measured through a design evaluation questionnaire to construct a design research model of the social robot. The data used in this study are Fixation, First Visit, Total Viewed, and Revisits as eye tracking indicators, and AOI (Areas of Interests) was designed with the face, eyes, lips, and body of the social robot. And as design evaluation questionnaire questions, consumer beliefs such as Face-highlighted, Human-like, and Expressive of social robots were collected and as a dependent variable was attitude toward robots. Through this, we tried to discover the mechanism that specifically forms the user's attitude toward the robot, and to discover specific insights that can be referenced when designing the robot.

Probability-based Pre-fetching Method for Multi-level Abstracted Data in Web GIS (웹 지리정보시스템에서 다단계 추상화 데이터의 확률기반 프리페칭 기법)

  • The effective probability-based tile pre-fetching algorithm and the collaborative cache replacement algorithm are able to reduce the response time for user's requests by transferring tiles which will be used in advance and determining tiles which should be removed from the restrictive cache space of a client based on the future access probabilities in Web GISs(Geographical Information Systems). The Web GISs have multi-level abstracted data for the quick response time when zoom-in and zoom-out queries are requested. But, the previous pre-fetching algorithm is applied on only two-dimensional pre-fetching space, and doesn't consider expanded pre-fetching space for multi-level abstracted data in Web GISs. In this thesis, a probability-based pre-fetching algorithm for multi-level abstracted in Web GISs was proposed. This algorithm expanded the previous two-dimensional pre-fetching space into three-dimensional one for pre-fetching tiles of the upper levels or lower levels. Moreover, we evaluated the effect of the proposed pre-fetching algorithm by using a simulation method. Through the experimental results, the response time for user requests was improved 1.8%∼21.6% on the average. Consequently, in Web GISs with multi-level abstracted data, the proposed pre-fetching algorithm and the collaborative cache replacement algorithm can reduce the response time for user requests substantially.

  • Recently, as various devices including the smart phone, tablet and smart TV increase rapidly, it have been trouble to develop services separately, which are the same as in each device. When it comes to manufacture these kinds of web applications, what is worse, it takes too much time, cost ineffective and hard to maintain as well. In order to solve the non-unity of these flat forms, some researches for the responsive web design according as the hybrid framework are being progressed. In this paper, we analyzed the technologies and trends of the hybrid framework, and also implemented the responsive web contents which is based on hybrid framework.

The Recognition Method for Focus Level using ECG(electrocardiogram) (심전도를 이용한 집중도 인식 방법)

  • Focus level has been important mental state in user study. Cardiac response has been related to focus and less clarified. The study was to determine cardiac parameters for recognizing focus level. The sixty participants were asked to play shooting game designed to control two focus levels. Electrocardiogram was measured during task. The parameters of time domain and frequency domain were determined from ECG. As a result of independent t-test, RRI, SDNN, rMSSD and pNN50 of time domain indicator were statistically significant in recognizing focus level. LF, HF, lnLF and lnHF of frequency domain were observed to be significant indicator. The rule base for recognition has been developed by the combination of RRI, rMSSD and lnHF. The rule base has been verified from another sixty data samples. The recognition accuracy were 95%. This study proposed significant cardiac indicators for recognizing focus level. The results provides objective measurement of focus in user interaction design in the fields of contents industry and service design.

  • 2011년 동일본 지역에서 발생한 지진으로 인하여 후쿠시마 다이이치에 위치한 원자력 발전소에서 다양한 방사성 물질들이 바다, 하천 그리고 대기와 같은 자연환경 속으로 유출되었다. 방사성 세슘(Cesuim, $Cs^{137}$)은 다양한 방사성 물질들 가운데 반감기(Half-life)가 30.17년으로 가장 긴 물질이다. 방사성 세슘이 환경 생태계로 한번 유출될 경우 긴 반감기과 널리 퍼지는 성질로 인하여 오랜 시간동안 넓은 지역에 막심한 피해를 초래하므로 효과적인 처리방법을 통해 안전하게 처리하는 것이 아주 중요하다. 세슘을 제거하기 위하여 물리적, 화학적, 생물학적 등 다양한 방법들을 통해 연구를 진행하고 있으며, 특히 세슘을 제거하는 아주 효과적인 방법 중 하나인 프러시안 블루(Prussian Blue, PB) 흡착제를 적용하는 방법이 많이 주목받고 있다. 그러나 프러시안 블루는 미세한 분말입자로서 수처리에 사용하게 되면 처리 후 발생되는 슬러지들을 수중으로 부터 분리하기 어려운 한계점을 가지고 있다. 최근 연구에서는 프러시안 블루의 적용 한계점를 극복하기 위하여 자성체(Magnetic substance)를 물리적 지지체로 이용하여 외부 자기장을 통해 수중으로 분리하는 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 자성체란 외부 자기장이 주어지게 되면 입자들 표면에 자성력을 띄는 물질들을 말한다. 본 연구에서는 자성체 종류들 가운데 가장 높은 자성력을 지닌 강자성체(Ferromagnetic Substance)를 물리적 지지체로 하여 산화과정, 실란과정, 합성과정을 거쳐 강자성체 입자의 표면에 프러시안 블루를 합성한 새로운 형태에 합성체를 제조하고, 제조된 합성체를 이용하여 수중에 존재하는 세슘 제거 능력을 평가하였다. 제조된 합성체의 물리적 특성을 분석하기 위하여 SEM, XRD를 이용하여 합성체 입자의 표면 분석을 진행하였다. 합성체의 세슘 제거 능력을 평가하기 위하여 임의 제조된 0.5mg/L의 세슘 농도를 가진 원수 100ml에 제조된 새로운 형태의 합성체 1g을 투입한 뒤 1분간의 반응시간 동안 반응한 이후 잔류 세슘을 측정한 결과 수중의 존재하는 세슘에 대해 99.9%의 세슘 제거율을 기록하였다. 자가분리(Magnetic Seperate)의 원리를 이용하여 수중으로부터 회수율을 측정한 결과, 99%의 합성체 회수율을 얻었다. 실험결과를 통해 외부자기장이 주어지게 되면 수중으로부터 합성체를 대부분 분리하여 회수할 수 있다고 판단된다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 새로운 형태의 합성체는 수중의 세슘 처리 공정에서 사용자가 직접 접촉하지 않고 세슘제거 및 외부자기장을 통해 수중으로부터 분리가 가능한 합성체라고 판단된다.

Design and Implementation of the Performance Driven UI-Mashup Architecture (성능 주도의 UI-Mashup 아키텍처의 설계 및 구현)

  • UI-Mashup is widely used as a service method to add value, which is composed of distributed various contents on the internet and has turned out to be one of the latest trends in web application program development. Previous UI-Mashup-related studies have focused primarily on the dynamic service composition and have not been able to adapt to a rapidly changing Web Standard, thusthe end users conclude that UI-Mashups are slow, incompatible and poor security services. In this study, We propose an architecture for the performance improvements of UI-Mashup.In order to provide fast services and security enhancements, the proposed architecture collects UI fragments on the server in parallel, and sends layouts and contents of Mashups UI to the client through a special delivery channel supporting fast reaction and response time. In this study, the implementation and performance tests were proceeded to verify the proposed architecture experimentally. As a result of the performance testing, the proposed architecture has two to three times faster response time and more than four times throughput compared to the previous UI-Mashup technology.

Two-stage Content-based Image Retrieval Using the Dimensionality Condensation of Feature Vector (특징벡터의 차원축약 기법을 이용한 2단계 내용기반 이미지검색 시스템)

  • The content-based image retrieval system extracts features of color, shape and texture from raw images, and builds the database with those features in the indexing process. The search in the whole retrieval system is defined as a process which finds images that have large similarity to query image using the feature database. This paper proposes a new two-stage search method in the content-based image retrieval system. The method is that the features are condensed and stored by the property of Cauchy-Schwartz inequality in order to reduce the similarity computation time which takes a mostly response time from entering a query to getting retrieval results. By the extensive computer simulations, we have observed that the proposed two-stage search method successfully reduces the similarity computation time while maintaining the same retrieval relevance as the conventional exhaustive search method. We also have observed that the method is more effective as the number of images and dimensions of the feature space increase.

A Study on Machine Learning-Based Real-Time Gesture Classification Using EMG Data (EMG 데이터를 이용한 머신러닝 기반 실시간 제스처 분류 연구)

  • This paper explores the potential of electromyography (EMG) as a means of gesture recognition for user input in gesture-based interaction. EMG utilizes small electrodes within muscles to detect and interpret user movements, presenting a viable input method. To classify user gestures based on EMG data, machine learning techniques are employed, necessitating the preprocessing of raw EMG data to extract relevant features. EMG characteristics can be expressed through formulas such as Integrated EMG (IEMG), Mean Absolute Value (MAV), Simple Square Integral (SSI), Variance (VAR), and Root Mean Square (RMS). Additionally, determining the suitable time for gesture classification is crucial, considering the perceptual, cognitive, and response times required for user input. To address this, segment sizes ranging from a minimum of 100ms to a maximum of 1,000ms are varied, and feature extraction is performed to identify the optimal segment size for gesture classification. Notably, data learning employs overlapped segmentation to reduce the interval between data points, thereby increasing the quantity of training data. Using this approach, the paper employs four machine learning models (KNN, SVC, RF, XGBoost) to train and evaluate the system, achieving accuracy rates exceeding 96% for all models in real-time gesture input scenarios with a maximum segment size of 200ms.

  • This Paper presents the real time things control method through Web browser that has no limited by time and place. To design and realize the system that not only makes it possible to communicate with other protocols but also reinforces the advantages of each protocol, the real time communication environment, based on the WebSocket technology of HTML5 whose international standardization has recently been completed, is realized. Also, the message communication environment in the low electricity and limited communication environment is realized using MQTT(Message Queue Telemetry Transport) protocol which is in the spotlight as the optimum protocol in the IoT environment. And by designing intuitive and simple hardware and realizing the responsive web interface which is not limited by the user's contact devices, the interactive system in which the user receives real time data from the hardware and reversely the user controls the things is designed and realized.
