Evaluation of a Tuberculosis Control Program at Community Health Centers (보건소 결핵관리사업 평가)

  • Purpose: To identify the effects on tuberculosis mortality of a tuberculosis control program conducted at 108 community health centers in terms of structure and process. Methods: The dependent variable was tuberculosis mortality, and the independent variables were the structure(type of centers, staff, nurses, doctors, budget) and process(chest X-ray checking, immunization, case detection, health education, patients registering & managing) of the tuberculosis control programs at the community health centers. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and stepwise regression analysis. Result: Tuberculosis morality was positively correlated with type of centers(rural area)(p<0.01), but negatively correlated with type of centers(large cities) (p<0.01), (middle cities)(p<0.05), staff FTE(p<0.05), and number of nurses(p<0.05). Regression analysis indicated that type of centers(rural area)($\beta$=0.457) and case detection($\beta$=0.234) had a significant effect on tuberculosis mortality. Conclusion: Ultimately, this study will provide information to improve the effectiveness of tuberculosis control programs in community health centers.

  • 교통은 오늘날의 문명사회를 저울질 할 수 있는 바로메타로서 인류생활의 향상과 발전에 크게 이바지해 온 것은 틀림없는 사실이다. 그러나 교통은 사람과 도로와 자동차의 조화 속에서 이루어지는 인간-기계계(man-machine system)인 것으로서 이들 요소들은 정삼각형을 구성하는 것으로서 어느 쪽에도 불합리나 결함이 자리잡게 되면 무섭고도 끔찍한 교통사고를 일으키고 만다. 이와 같은 사실은 최근의 교통사고 사망자수에 대한 변화를 찾아보더라도 그 엄청난 피해를 그냥 보아 넘길 수는 없는 것이다. 교통이란 본래 공간적인 이동을 그 기능으로 하고 있다. 사람들의 생활과, 이와 같은 생활을 둘러싸는 모든 활동은 확대, 확산된 공간속에서 실시되고 있는 것인데 여기에서 사회를 형성하게 된다. 따라서 교통이 발달한다는 것은 곧 사회적 교류를 드높이면서 그의 향상과 발전을 도모하게 될 것인데 이 때의 문제점을 기존통계를 중심으로 분석하면서 그의 교통안전교육에 대한 시행방안을 고찰하고자 한다.

  • 최근 동남아시아에서는 경재성장과 더불어 생활환경의 변화로 인해 대형화재의 발생 증가와 화재의 발생 빈도가 증가하고, 발생패턴 또한 변하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 각 나라의 화재통계 비교분석을 통해 앞으로의 화재발생 경향을 예시하고자, 각국의 인구통계와 화재건수, 사망자수 등의 통계로 비교분석하였다. 각국의 비교에서는 중국 등 일부 나라는 도심지 지역을 제외한 일부지역의 정확한 데이터가 부족하고, 통계 시점이 불명확하였다. 또한, 우리나라는 데이터에 대한 분류방식변화로 통계치에 대한 발생건수 증가에 대한 대안이 있어야 하며, 특히 대만의 경우처럼 타 국가에 비해 급격한 감소 현상에 대한 화재대책방안을 참고 하여야 한다. 종합적으로는 각 나라의 사정은 다르겠지만, 동남아의 특징인 가족중심사회, 도시구조와 생활패턴 및 문화적 공통점을 고려 할 때 표준화된 통계분류방법이 필요하다.

  • 고령화 진입으로 인한 노인들의 사회적 활동 범위가 넓어지고 있다. 이에 노인운전자수 및 교통사고가 증가 하고 있다. 이에 인천광역시 노인운전자 교통사고 분석을 통하여 문제점을 파악하고 요인분석을 통해 사고유형의 경향 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 분석결과 차대차에 사망사고는 감소하고 있으나, 기타요인에 의한 사망사고는 증가 하는 것으로 분석 되었다. 이에 기타요인에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 국내외 붕괴사례 DB를 조사하여 붕괴사고 유형, 대상, 발생 시기, 발생 국가, 사망자수, 발생공정, 사고발생 원인 등에 대하여 통계적인 분석을 실시하였다. 조사자료는 시설안전공단, 안전보건공단, 각종 기관 보고서, 통계자료, 기타 뉴스 자료 등이며 원자료 형태의 특성대로 코딩하여 분석하였다. 전반적인 경향을 보기 위한 것으로 기초분석을 중심으로 하였으며 시간적 공간적 범위의 제한을 두지 않았다. 해외 선진국에서는 일부 재난원인을 밝히는데 과학적인 방법의 하나로 포렌식기법을 적용하여 분석하기도 하나 실제적으로 붕괴 분야에서 적용된 사례는 많지 않다. 본 연구에서는 붕괴 분야에 포렌식 기법을 적용하기 위한 전 단계로 붕괴사례에 대한 전반적인 분석이 이루어진 기초연구이다.

  • The critical temperature and the rate of increase in excess death caused by heat waves in the age group of 65 years and older are derived. The value of statistical life method was used to quantify economic damages, and the willingness to pay after 71 years of age for 10 years was measured based on the dichotomous choice contingent valuation method survey. The result shows about KRW 481,110,000 is required annually to reduce the possibility of death by climate change to 1/1000.

  • According to the national railway safety plan 1 billion US$ have been invested in railway industry every year. As a result, railway accident rate has been reduce to half recent 6 years. Currently, Korea has 3 kinds of national railway safety target, which are accident fatalities, train accident rate, and passenger fatality per passenger kilometer. Increase of railway passengers and train operating companies force to set up new safety target. Current safety target cannot reflect train operator's safety activities because they include suicide and trespass related accidents, which are hard to be controlled by the operators. In order to reflect to the national railway safety plan, new safety targets are proposed in this study.

Walking Accident Characteristics and Walking Factors for Road Crossing of the Transportation Vulnerable in the Case of Yeosu (교통약자의 보행 교통사고 특성과 보행 횡단요소 분석 (여수시를 사례로))

  • The population over 65 years old is 12.7% of total population in 2014 and Korea is going to be an aged society in the near future. The transportation vulnerable including the aged should be guaranteed in walking mobility under safe and comfortable environment for their socio-economic activities. For the era of fusion and convergence this paper investigated the characteristics of walking accidents related to the aged pedestrians and analyzed the aged-oriented walking factors with a reaction time and a walking speed at crosswalks in Yeosu. In the results, the crashes for the aged occur at 9.9% of total crashes and the fatalities of the aged are 40.3% of total fatalities in 2014. The 47.4% of the aged fatalities is also attributed to vehicle-to-pedestrian accidents. The 49.3% of all pedestrian fatalities occurs at the aged pedestrians with a very high proportion. The reaction time and walking speed for the aged were determined as the values located at the lower 15%-tile of the elderly physical ability. It is shown that the reaction time is 4.56 seconds and the walking speed is 0.76 m/s in the case of Yeosu. From two factors' standpoint, the walking environment at crosswalks in Yeosu is inappropriate for the aged.

A study on the evaluation of fire safety according to the ventilation mode in a train fire at the subway platform (지하철 승강장에서 열차 화재시 제연모드에 따른 화재 안전성 평가 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to present the most effective smoke exhaust mode by comparing the quantitatively evaluated risks according to the smoke exhaust mode when a train fire occurs in a subway platform. Therefore, applying the typical subway platform as a model, train fire scenarios are developed with the evacuation start time and location of the fire train for each exhaust mode. The fire accident rates (F) are calculated and the number of fatalities (N) was quantitatively estimated by fire analysis and evacuation analysis for each scenario. In addition, the F/N curve compared with the social risk assessment criteria and the following conclusions were obtained. In the event of a train fire at the subway station platform, the evacuation must start up within 600 s in maximum to ensure the evacuees' safety. To secure evacuation safety, it is advantageous to operate the HVAC system of the platform in the air-supply mode at station without TVF. Comparing the F/N curve for each exhaust mode with the social risk criteria, it turned out that the risk significantly exceeds the social risk criteria in case of no mechanical ventilation. As a result, this paper shows that the ventilation mode in which TVF are exhausted and HVAC system is operated in the pressurized mode are the most effective smoke exhaust mode for ensuring evacuation safety.

An Evaluation of The Vital Registration System in Korea (한국 인구동태통계 작성에 대한 평가)

  • Problems concerning the vital registration system and its management, errors and methods to adjust them in the vital registration data in Korea have been studied. It is found that birth and death registration rates were above 95% in 1994. The registration rates rose rapidly since 1970 due to 1) simplification of registration form, 2) improving accessibility by allowing registration at the current residence, 3) enforcing fine against non-registration, and 4) improvements in social security system. However, there should be some continuing efforts for further improvement of the vital registration system. The content error in the data could be substantially reduced following the rapid rise of the registration rates in the 1980s, though this has never been actually studied. There are still substantial registrations with false date of death. The false date of events may affect the computed vital rates specially when the registration rates are rapidly rising. Especially the death rates of the young can be seriously affected. A study on the data in the 1970s shows that death of age between 3 to 19 has been over-registered up to 67% compared with the expected. It is a serious matter that some researchers analyze the registration data without adjusting the errors. It is strongly recommended for the Government Statistical Office to undertake a study on the registration behavior of the people.
