  • In recent years, there has been significant interest and research on the Comprehensive Index of Character in the Warring States Period, which has resulted in many scholarly achievements. Hence, it is necessary to comprehensively categorize and summarize these achievements. Some researchers have already done a good job in this categorizing and summarizing. However, there is still work to be done in the comprehensive collation of the seal character research of the Warring States Period. The purpose of this essay is to regionalize the "SiMaZhiXi" Seal collected by "GuXiHuiBian (古璽彙編)" 0024. The number 0024 seal is an ancient seal collected by "Guxihuibian" (古璽彙編). In general, this is a Chu seal from the Warring States Period. But some scholars think that the seal is actually from the Qi or Yan States.

  • This study concerns Sama Pangmok which is in the possession of Harvard-Yenching Library, Harvard University, USA. Sama Pangmok is the archive of Saengwon Chinsa Examination(the licentiate examination) which is the preliminary test for main civil service examination. And it is the list of the names of the applicants who passed this examination. This examination were conducted from the days of lauching of Chosun as a new nation to the days of Kabo Kyungjang(the 1894 reform). While this examination was conducted 230 times, not all but 186 of the resultant lists are available. Of these 186 lists, this library posses 47 titles. My study of the existing dissertation on the possession of titles by Harvard-Yenching Library, 7 titles where in possession of the same library in 1968 and 5 ones in 190. It is the main objective of this study to clarify the possession of this library and correct the past errors in indication of possession of titles by this library. For this purpose, I conducted a study on Saengwon Chinsa Examination and Sama Pangmok, which could be the historical background of this study. This was followed by research on the bibliographical aspect of Sama Pangmok and the research on the situation concerning this Library's possession of the same lists. Lastly, the analysis of the special feature of Sama Pangmok possessed by this Library was conducted. It is expected that the result of this research will be applied to the practical research of the history of civil service examinations and the old and rare books overseas in the future.

  • Gimyo sama tongnyung kyechub(己卯司馬同年契帖) was made in 1639 to commemorate the meeting for successful candidates who had passed Samasi(司馬試). This study analyzes the physical characteristics of Gimyo sama tongnyung kyechub(己卯司馬同年契帖), which includes kyehoe-do(契會圖), list of identification(座目), preface(序文), poem of meeting(契會詩) and try to find out who is in the illustration, what happened in the meeting, and why they made this book comprehensively. According to the research, this book has different physical characteristics from others made earlier. It is revealed that the three men - Choi Sang Ho(崔尙虎), Kim Jeong Hwa(金鼎華), Hong Jong Woon(洪鐘韻) - out of four who passed the exam in 1639 held a meeting at the Mount. Wolchul in YoungAm in the fall of 1656. After that, they ordered the painter who belonged to Jeonla government in Gangjin, Jeonla province to make four copies of this book for the purpose to continue their relationship cross the generations.

  • The subjects of analysis in this paper, the clan name roots "Baj," "Kim," and "Shama/Sama," while distributed commonly among the Altai, Ye i, and isolated language groups, are most widely distributed among the Evenki. The clan name root "Baj-" is widely distributed among indigenous Siberian nations, but is most frequently found among the Manchu-Tungus, especially the Evenki. Therefore, it appears that clans with this root originated from Pribajkal'e, known to be the origin of the Evenki, and spread widely among the nearby Buryats, Mongols, and Yakuts, later spread east to the Nivhi of the Amur River, to the Enisej Protoasiatic language nations such as the Yukaghir or Ket to the north, and the Samoyed language group nations such as the Ne and Selkup. According to the analysis results in this paper, the Evenki clan name "Kim" has the meaning of "person," but also is somewhat associated with gold, metal, or stone. On one hand, while the origin of the clan name "Kim" cannot be clearly established, the clan was assimilated into the Evenki near in ancient times, after which the clan name became widely known among the Manchu-Tungus nations, and furthermore in the Turk nations. The clan name Shama/sama is widely spread across Siberia, including the Manchu-Tungus language group nations of the Altai language family, the Turk language family, and the Samoyed language groups of the Ural language family. Moreover, this clan name is not associated with famous mythic ancestors or heroes of historically famous Asian nations, and it cannot be translated into contemporary language; thus the identification of the meaning and origins of this word is by no means an easy task.

  • Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a viral disease causing severe economic losses on tomato. Practical prevention of the TYLCV disease is to control tabacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) or to cultivate TYLCV-resistant tomato cultivars, because no agrochemical products are available to control TYLCV. In this study, TYLCV resistance of the commercial tomato cultivars were evaluated using the DNA markers tightly linked to TYLCV resistance genes Ty-1 and Ty-3 and infection with the TYLCV clones mediated by Agrobacterium. In marker genotyping, resistance alleles were detected from 4 oval type tomato cultivars (Titichal, TY tinny, TY saengsaeng II, TY sense Q). Four cheery type cultiavrs (TY endorphin, TY smartsama, Tiara TY, Olleh TY) and 6 round type cultivars (TY kingdom, TY ace, TY homerun, TY altorang, Dotaerang TY winner, Styx TY). The seedling bioassay indicated that tomato cultivars of the oval type and cherry type showed consistancy in marker genotype and phenotype while slight disease symptom was observed from some round type cultivras (TY ace, TY homerun, Styx TY) with resistance marker genotype. For fruit yields, TY tinny was greater than its control cultivar Titichal in oval types, TY smartsama was greater than its control Smile in cherry type, and TY ace and TY kingdom were greater than their control Dabok. These cutliavrs can be a good choice for high-yielding TYLCV-resistant tomato cultivars.

  • In this study the (Alnico, Sm-Co) bonded magnets were fabricated by mixing the Sm-Co added alnico alloy powders with epoxy resin and binder, appropriately. Also, the hybrid ring magnets of (Alnico, Sm-Co)/Sr-ferrite were fabricated by coupling the Sr-ferrite composite layer with an (Alnico, Sm-Co) magnet. The magnetic properties of (Alnico, Sm-Co) ring magnets were varied with the amount of Sm-Co powders. The addition of Sm-Co powders increased a remanent induction($B_r$) and coercive force($_BH_C$), while decreasing a surface flux density and repulsive distance. The surface flux density and repulsive distance for the (Alnico, Sm-Co) ring magnet increased with a magnetizing voltage up to about 160 V and reached an apparent saturation point. Also, the measurements of temperature and moisture characteristics showed that the surface flux densities of N-S poles and repulsive distance decreased a little within 4% after 10 days passed.
