Influence of Elementary school Students' Safety Consciousness upon Risk Recognition of Accidental Type (초등학생들의 안전의식이 사고유형 위험인식에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was attempted in order to examine relationship of elementary school students' safety consciousness upon risk recognition of accidental type. We carried out targeting 378 elementary school students who attended 4 schools in J city and K city of J province from June 25 July 15, 2009. The statistical processing was done by SPSS WIN 12.0 Version. The statistical significance was set to p<.05. As for correlation between variables in safety characteristics and safety consciousness, and risk recognition of accidental type, the safety consciousness showed positive correlation with risk recognition of traumatic accident(r=.179, p<.01) and risk recognition of environmental accident(r=.104, p<.05).The whole data of risk recognition of accidental type, the safety education within 1 year($\beta=.139$, t=2.654, p<.01) and traffic safety consciousness($\beta=.172$, t=2.714, p<.01) were indicated to had significant influence upon the risk recognition of accidental type.

Estimation of Accident Effectiveness Based Upon the Location of Traffic Signal Using C-G Method (C-G Method를 활용한 신호등 위치에 따른 교통사고 효과 분석)

  • The Office for Government Policy Coordination announced in 2006, september that a scheme of pre-signal would show remarkable outcome to reduce traffic accidents. Therefore, the Ministry recommended applying preferentially the pre-signal scheme to enhancement projects for high accident frequency areas. In case that the suggested pre-signal was unilaterally introduced to the enhancement projects at intersections, it might rather cause a big trial and error in terms of traffic safety. Hence, on the basis of quantitative analysis, this study was to indicate a pre-signal's effectiveness to reduce the traffic accidents, to illustrate a trend of the accident type due to the pre-signal, and to introduce intersection type that could be appropriate for the pre-signal. The methodology adopted Comparison-Group Method which was developed by Hauer. Through this methodology, overall effectiveness to reduce the accidents is considered positive but individual effectiveness by intersection and by accident case was different. All cases of the accidents at small scale intersection demonstrated positive results to reduce its accidents, while in case of frontal collision and side-right angle collision out of the accident types, the installation of pre-signal rather caused a negative result increasing the accident in terms of the traffic safety. I hope that this study would be a useful reference for future development of the estimation of accident effectiveness. Thus, when the pre-signal is being installed in the big intersection, it is recommended operating the installation concerning carefully improvements about muliple aspects as traffic operation, traffic facility, human factor etc.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of simulation integrated with problem based learning in terms of critical thinking, problem solving, learning motivation according to Myers-Briggs type indicator(MBTI) personality type in advanced nursing course students. This study was a non-equivalent control posttest only design. Students were all enrolled in advanced nursing course which included 1) 6 weeks problem based learning 2) 5 weeks simulation integrated with PBL and debriefing. Total 19 students' data were collected and analyzed on SPSS win 21.0. The results showed students who have out patients working experience were significantly higher learning motivation(${\chi}^2=9.85$, p=.044), no experienced simulation were significantly higher critical thinking(${\chi}^2=4.44$, p=.035) and as temperament of MBTI, NT types were significantly higher on critical thinking(${\chi}^2=8.53$, p=.036). Students show various personality types and it might be impact on attitudes of learning and the results. Thus we need to understand their diversity and consider it to apply teaching methods on nursing education.

Deep Learning-based Real-time Traffic Accident Type and Fault Information Provision Service (딥러닝 기반 실시간 교통사고 유형 및 과실 정보 제공 서비스)

  • Determining the percentage of negligence between the parties in the event of road traffic accidents is a significant problem. In order to provide users with more accurate criteria for determining the percentage of negligence, several companies are providing services. However, services currently available are limited to immediate use at the scene of an accident. Generally, the service that determines the percentage of negligence can be used after all accident handling procedures have been completed. This paper provides a real-time traffic accident type and fault rate information provision service utilizing a deep learning-based predictive model to overcome these limitations. Users can immediately identify accident types and fault information by taking pictures at the accident site and check actual precedents of the same accident type. Users will be able to use the service to more accurately and reliably determine the percentage of negligence and handle incidents.

Safety Impacts of Red Light Enforcement on Signalized Intersections (교차로 신호위반 단속카메라 설치가 차량사고에 미치는 영향)

  • The frequency and severity of traffic accidents related to signalized intersections in urban areas have been more serious than those in both arterial segments and crosswalks. Especially, traffic accidents involved with injuries and fatalities have caused by traffic signal violations within intersections. Therefore, many countries including Korea have installed the red light enforcement camera (RLE) to reduce traffic accidents associated with the traffic signal violation. Meanwhile, many methodologies have been studied in terms of safety impacts estimation of red light enforcement, which, however, cannot be easy to conduct. In this study, safety impacts was estimated for intersections of Chicago downtown area using SPF models and EB approach. As a result, for all crash types and target traffic accident types such as "angle", "rear end", "sideswipe in the same and other directions", "turn", and "head on", fatal crashes were reduced by 26% and 38%. However, RLE may increase property-demage-only-crashes by 3.23% and 1.16%, respectively.

  • Though, fishing vessel accidents account for 70 % of all maritime accidents in Korean waters, most research has focused on identifying causes and developing mitigation policies in an attempt to reduce this rate. However, predicting and evaluating accident risk needs to be done before the implementation of such reduction measures. For this reasons, we havve performed a risk analysis to calculate the risk of accidents and propose a risk criteria matrix with 4 quadrants, within one of which forecasted risk is plotted for the relative comparison of risks. For this research, we considered 9 types of fishing vessel accidents as reported by Korea Maritime Safety Tribunal (KMST). Given that no risk evaluation criteria have been established in Korea, we established a two-dimensional frequency-consequence grid consisting of four quadrants into which paired frequency and consequence for each type of accident are presented. With the simple structure of the evaluation model, one can easily verify the effect of frequency and consequence on the resulting risk within each quadrant. Consequently, these risk evaluation results will help a decision maker employ more realistic risk mitigation measures for accident types situated in different quadrants. As an application of the risk evaluation matrix, accident types were further analyzed using accident causes including human error (factor) and appropriate risk reduction options may be established by comparing the relative frequency and consequence of each accident cause.

  • In the subway fire case, it is important that judge accuracy subway fire type and on the initial response minimize accident damage. But when the subway fire accident occurring, if it have know impossible that accuracy subway fire type to judge at once though witnessing driver or emergency response staff. This study suggests type of five senses that using information of five sense take to the subway fire accident information which analyses five senses as occurring subway fire accident. Also it is proposed that emergency response system though fire scenario by using Activity-Action Diagram(AAD).

  • As a city and industries are developed rapidly, a traffic accident and congestion take places on the road link become serious and it can be a large problem of the society in the future. Especially, most of the traffic accidents on the signalized intersection are caused by the human factor, vehicle and environmental factor mutually. The relation of the traffic accident and volume is acting on the outbreak of the traffic accident and the mistake of driver altogether as a major cause. The purpose of this paper is to develop a model for the forecasting of the traffic accident and to use research data gained to predict many traffic accidents. The data of this study were used with real one of the 73 areas of the four-legged signalized intersection in Kwang-ju city from 1996 to 1998 for three years to develop a model for the forecasting of the traffic accident. The statistical methods used in this paper are the principal component, regression and correlation analysis. We studied accident models to find out useful data from the statistics method and applied the data to the different area of the Choun-La province for the verification of the model. So, the result of this paper showed a reasonable model for the forecasting or the traffic accident and possibility of the model for simulating on real case. Finally, This study would be made of a study continually for the safe design and plan for the four-legged signalized intersection.
