Ship Collision Avoidance Support Model in Close Quarters Situation( I ) (근접상황 선박충돌회피지원모델에 관한 연구( I ))

  • Up to now a lot of the study on ship collision avoidance systems have proceeded actively. However the rate of ship collision accidents hasn't decreased yet. If there is collision risk in close quarters situation in spite of maneuvering ship for collision avoidance according to the system, only use of TCP A and DCP A as input factor for collision risk decision is not useful to avoiding collision action. For the recent 5 years by the analysis of first observation distance about approaching ship in domestic collision accidents, nearly $45\%$ of accidents is close first observation less than 2 miles. Therefore it is essential part for safety navigations to study for collision avoidance action in close encounter. In this paper, as a fundamental study of supporting collision avoidance maneuvering for navigators, we proposed ship collision avoidance support model in close quarters situation through analysis qf collision accidents to effectively get rid of the causes.

A Study on the Method for Releasing the Internal Pressure of the Propane Cylinder caused by Liquid Expansion (액팽창을 고려한 프로판용기의 내압 해소방안에 대한 연구)

  • Liquefied petroleum gas can be charged up to 85% of cylinder volume by enforcement regulations of safety control and business of liquefied petroleum gas act. The charged mass by enforcement regulations is considered by liquid expansion of internal liquefied petroleum gas at $65^{\circ}C$. But the temperature of liquid would not be suspended under $65^{\circ}C$ in a cylinder or portable vessel at certain situation. In the thermodynamics view point, the cylinder can be exposed to high pressure by liquid expansion. Consequently, it can be possible to potential risk such as physical explosion. Hence, this paper will offer a method of estimated internal pressure by liquid expansion at critical state in the closed system. Also, the structural factor which is given rise to volume increasement of cylinder is offered by experiment. This paper is expected as crucial reference for a cylinder design of liquefied petroleum gas.

Prediction of Structural Performance of an Automotive Ball Joint (자동차용 볼조인트의 구조적 성능 예측)

  • An automotive ball joint connects the suspension system to the steering system and helps to enable rotational and linear motion between the two elements for steering. This study examines a ball joint used in medium and large-sized pickup trucks. Ball joints consist of a stud, socket, bearing, and plug. The main structural performance metrics of ball joints are the pull-out strength and push-out strength. These structural parameters must meet certain criteria to avoid serious accidents. Test and simulation methods are used to investigate the design requirements, but tests are time-consuming and costly. In this study, we modeled ball joints in SolidWorks and performed a finite element analysis in Abaqus to predict structural performance. The analysis was used to obtain the structural performance required for the static analysis of a 2D axisymmetric model. The uncertainties in the manufacturing of the ball joint were assumed to be the manufacturing tolerances, and the dimensional design variables were identified through case studies. The manufacturing tolerances at each level were defined, and the results were compared with experimental results.

  • A reactor containment acts as a final barrier to prevent leakage of radioactive material due to the possible reactor accidents into external environment. Because of the functional importance of the containment building, the SIT(Structural Integrity Test) for containments shall be performed to evaluate the structural acceptability and demonstrate the quality of construction. An initial numerical analysis was performed to simulate the results obtained from the SIT for a prestressed concrete(PSC) structure. But the analysis results by the initial model expected smaller displacements than the measured ones by 30% at some locations. Accordingly, the research and development to improve the initial model to corelate the measured results of the SIT more properly have been performed. In this paper, the effects of the loss of concrete due to duct for tendons and the contact of duct and tendons in un-bonded tendon system are mainly evaluated based on the preliminary analysis results. In addition, the importances of the proper definition of mesh connectivity among structural elements of concrete, liner plates, rebars and tendons are discussed.

  • The value and importance of Gamification has intensified as the way Gamification is applied to social networking applications has added to users' interest and involvement to the product. Gamification entails the adoption of gaming techniques and modes of thinking in non-gaming domains to elicit user engagement. To this end, the paper draws on Gamification's analytical model, Octalysis, with the aim of identifying user loyalty of the three major Chinese social networking applications and extracting their characteristics. In this regard, the first task in the advancement of the study is to establish an understanding of the components and characteristics of Gamification within the context of available examples. Next, a questionnaire survey covering China's three dominant social applications, WeChat, QQ, and Xiaohongshu, is administered and their user loyalty is examined through Octalysis's eight analytical frameworks. By virtue of analysis, the results demonstrate that the three elements of game mechanics, Point, Badge, and Leadboard, which are external to the game, fail to sustain the user loyalty, but are merely a means to an end. Only by including a combination of social application features, contents and user needs can Gamification considerations be maximized to ensure that users are subjectively engaged with the product.

Examination of Lateral Torsional Bucling Strength by Increasing the Warping Strength of I-Section Plate Girder with Concrete Filled Half Pipe Stiffener (콘크리트 충전 반원기둥보강재가 적용된 플레이트 거더의 뒤틀림 강도)

  • Lateral torsional buckling causessafety accidentssuch as collapse accidents during erection. Therefore, anaccurate safety designshould be conducted. Lateral torsional buckling canbe prevented by reinforcing the end orreducing the unbraced length. The method ofreducing the unbraced length by installing a crossframe has high material and installation costs and low maintenance performance.In addition, structuralsafety may be deteriorated due to cracks. The end reinforcement method using Concrete Filled Half Pipe Stiffeneris a method ofreinforcing the end of a plate girder using a stiffenerin the form of a semi-circular column. This method increasesthewarping strength ofthe girder and increasesthe lateral torsional buckling strength.In thisstudy, the effect ofincreasing the warping strengthof plate girders with concrete filled half pipe stiffeners was confirmed. To verify the effect, the results ofthe designequationand the finite element analysis were compared and verified through a experiment. As a result, the plate girderwithCFHPS increased thewarping strengthand confirmed that the lateral torsional buckling strength was increased.

A Study on the Introduction Plan of the Places of Refuge in Domestic Areas based on the Analysis of Foreign Cases (국외 사례 분석을 통한 국내 선박 피난처 도입 방안에 관한 연구)

  • A huge marine accident causes a loss of valuable lives, property and the serious marine environment pollution. IMO adopted resolution A.949(23) to provide Places of Refuge(PoR) to 'Ship in need of assistance', which is to minimize the secondary environmental pollution caused by marine accidents. If the level of risk exceeds a certain range, it is necessary to be designated as Places of Refuge(PoR) after evaluation of potential risk, which is based on the database of several marine environmental factors. Also, it is necessary to develop skills about quantification/standardization of vessel traffic safety, complexity and risk. Because there is the close relation between the problem of designating Places of Refuge(PoR) and the policy of nation for protecting the natural environment of coastal state, it is important to prepare related legislation. In this paper, introduction of Places of Refuge(PoR) in domestic areas have been suggested based on the analysis of several foreign designating cases.

Characteristics and Changes in Scientific Empathy during Students' Productive Disciplinary Engagement in Science (학생들의 생산적 과학 참여에서 발현되는 과학공감의 특성과 변화 분석)

  • This study aimed to investigate the role of scientific empathy in influencing students' productive disciplinary engagement in scientific activities and analyze the key factors of scientific empathy that manifest during this process. Twelve fifth-grade students were divided into three subgroups based on their general empathic abilities. Lessons promoting productive disciplinary engagement, integrating design thinking processes, were conducted. Subgroup discourse analysis during idea generation and prototype stages, two of five problem-solving steps, enabled observation of scientific empathy and practice aspects. The results showed that applying scientific empathy effectively through design thinking facilitated students' productive disciplinary engagement in science. In the idea generation stage, we observed an initial increase followed by a decrease in scientific empathy and practice utterances, while during the prototyping stage, utterance frequency increased, particularly in the later part. However, subgroups with lower empathic abilities displayed decreased discourse frequency in scientific empathy and practice during the prototype stage due to a lack of collaborative communication. Across all empathic ability levels, the students articulated all five key factors of scientific empathy through their utterances in situations involving productive science engagement. In the high empathic ability subgroup, empathic understanding and concern were emphasized, whereas in the low empathic ability subgroup, sensitivity, scientific imagination, and situational interest, factors of empathizing with the research object, were prominent. These results indicate that experiences of scientific empathy with research objects, beyond general empathetic abilities, serve as a distinct and crucial factor in stimulating diverse participation and sustaining students' productive engagement in scientific activities during science classes. By suggesting the potential multidimensional impact of scientific empathy on productive disciplinary engagement, this study contributes to discussions on the theoretical structure and stability of scientific empathy in science education.

The Analysis of 'Software Education' Unit in the Practical Arts Textbooks According to 2015 Revised Curriculum (2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 실과 교과서 '소프트웨어 교육' 단원 분석)

  • Modern society has become a key factor in determining software competitiveness. Therefore, Korea has required more than 17 hours of software education per year in the actual course subject to the 2015 revised curriculum. In this paper, we analyzed the software related units in 6 kinds of textbooks of elementary school published based on '2015 revised curriculum' and tried to provide basic data for selection of textbooks related to software education in elementary school. As a result of the analysis, the 6 revised textbooks of 2015 appropriately reflected both 'understanding of software', 'procedural problem solving', 'contents of programming element and structure', and I was suggesting appropriate activities. Unit support materials use comics and illustrations to stimulate interest, supplement text, and deepen learning. Four kinds of textbooks provide additional information by presenting reading materials. However, in most textbooks, the proportion of learning using the appendix was low. Although it consists of units focused on knowledge understanding and practice, it can be a textbook that enhances students' interest and participation if they are made of software in daily life, problem solving by procedural thinking, and so on.

수학적 창의성과 개방형 문제(open ended problem)

  • 제7차 교육과정의 기본방향인 '21세기의 세계화 정보화 시대를 주도할 자율적이고 창의적인 한국인 육성'에서 볼 수 있듯이, 새로운 교육과정에서는 학생들의 창의력을 신장시키기 위한 방안으로 교과별 교육과정이나 재량활동 운영 등을 제시한 바 있다. 수학교육에서도 이러한 시대적 흐름에 발맞추어 수학적 창의력의 신장이 강조되고 있는 상황이다. 그동안 이론적인 측면과 실제적인 측면에서 수학적 창의성에 대한 성과가 축적되었다. 이론적인 측면에서 볼 때, Haylock(1987)등에 의해 창의력과 수학적 창의력의 구분되었으며, 특히 '수학적' 창의력에 대한 다양한 정의가 제안되었다. 실제적인 측면에서도 수학적 창의력을 측정하려는 평가 도구들이 그 동안 여러 가지로 개발하였다. 그러나, 이러한 수학적 창의력에 관한 전반적인 연구는 종국적으로 교실 수학수업에 반영되어야 함에도 불구하고, 그리 만족스럽지 못한 상황이다. 특히, 교실에서 수학수업을 실제로 담당하는 교사들이 수학적 창의력을 위한 수업을 하고자 하더라도 당장 가까이에서 구할 수 있는 교수 학습 자료가 여전히 부족한 상황이다. 물론 그 동안 교실 수학수업에서 사용할 수 있는 창의력 개발 프로그램이 전무한 것은 아니다. 그런데 그들 대부분은 게임이나 퍼즐을 이용한 것으로 그 수준이 단순 흥미유발에 그치고 있거나 소수의 영재아를 위한 소재를 중심으로, 특히 수학적 사고 과정을 따르기보다는, 시행착오를 거쳐 원하는 결과를 얻을 가능성이 많으며, 수학과의 연계성이 불분명한 채로 단순놀이에 그치는 경우가 적지 않아, 수업과 연관되어 창의력의 신장이라는 측면에서 볼 때, 적용하기 어려운 사례가 많다. 이러한 상황을 개선하는 데 기여하고자, 현재 교과교육공동연구 지원사업의 하나로 한국 학술 진흥재단의 지원을 받아, '개방형 문제(open-ended problems)'를 중심 소재로 한 '수학적 창의성'을 신장하기 위한 교수학습 프로그램을 개발하여, 중학교 1학년을 대상으로 연구를 진행하고 있다. 개방형 문제라 함은 명백한 정의가 어렵지만 Pehkeon(1995)는 개방형문제의 정의를 명백히 하기위한 시도로서 그 반대로 닫힌 문제에 대한 정의로부터 시작하여, 어떤 문제가 닫혀있다고 하는 것은 그 문제의 출발 상황과 목표 상황이 닫혀 있는 것, 즉 명백히 설명되어있을 때라면 개방형 문제는 이와 반대의 개념임을 시사하였다. Silver(1995)는 개방형 문제를 문제 자체가 다른 해석이 가능하거나 서로 다를 인정할만한 답을 가질 수 있는 문제 또는 풀이과정이 다양한 문제, 자연스럽게 다른 문제들을 제안하거나 일반화를 제시할 수 있는 문제라고 정의하였다. 따라서 개방형 문제란 출발상황이나 목표 상황의 일부가 닫혀있지 않을 때를 말하고 문제의 조건을 만족하는 해답이 여러 가지로 존재하는 문제를 뜻한다. 수학적 창의력을 개발하는 데, 다른 문제 유형보다도, 개방형 문제가 유리하다는 점은 이미 여러 학자들에 의해 주장되어왔다. 미국 국립영재교육센터(NRCG/T)는 기존의 사지선다형이나 단답형 문제와 질문들은 학생들의 사고 능력에 관한 정보를 거의 알려주지 못하기 때문에 한 가지 이상의 답을 요구하는 ‘open-ended' 또는 ’open-response' 문제와 질문을 가지고 수학 분야에서의 창의적 사고 능력과 표현능력을 측정해야 한다고 하였고, 개방형 문제가 일반적으로 정답이 하나인 문제보다 고차원적인 사고를 요구하게 하는 문제 형태라고 하였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 근거를 바탕으로 개방형 문제의 유형을 다양한 답이 존재하는 문제, 다양한 해결 전략이 가능한 문제, 답이 없는 문제, 문제 만들기, 일반화가 가능한 문제 등으로 보고, 수학적 창의성 중 특히 확산적 사고에 초점을 맞추어 개방형 문제가 확산적 사고의 요소인 유창성, 독창성, 유연성 등에 각각 어떤 영향을 미치는지 20주의 프로그램을 개발, 진행하여 그 효과를 검증하고자 한다. 개방형 문제를 활용한 수학적 창의력 신장 프로그램을 개발하고 현장 학교에 실험 적용하여 그 효과를 분석하고자 하는 본 연구는 창의력 신장에 비중을 두는 수학과 교수-학습 과정에 실제적인 교수 학습 자료를 제공하는 것뿐만 아니라 교사들에게는 수학교실에서 사용 가능한 실제적인 활용방안을, 학생들에게는 주어진 문제를 여러 가지 각도에서 생각하면서 다양한 사고를 경험하는 기회를 가질 수 있어, 수학을 보는 학생들의 태도에도 긍정적인 변화를 가져올 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.
