Optimal Design of Nonuniform Transmission Lime Sections for Wide-Band Impedance Matching (광대역 임피이던스정합용 불균일군차선로의 최적설계)

  • A design problem is studied for a nonuniform transmission line (NUTL) section to be inserted between an arbitrary source impedance and an arbitary load impedance for the purpose of impedance matching or providing a minimum input reflection coefficient over a frequency ranee as wide as possible. A special class of NUTL's, yet comprehensive enough to include almost all smoothly varying lines, are considered. Power series expansions of the ABCD parameters of such lines are used in the calculation of the input reflection coefficient. The design problem is formulated as a nonlinear programming problem withnonlinear constraints and is solved by a combined use of the sequential unconstrained minimization technique and tile Fletcher-Powell method. As a result, a line section was obtained which shows a marked improvement over any one hitherto published as a wide-band impedance matching device.

  • This paper addresses the issue of adaptive global optimization using Kriging metamodel known as EGO(Efficient Global Optimization). The algorithm adaptively chooses where to generate subsequent samples based on an explicit trade-off between reduction of global uncertainty and exploration of the region of the interest. A strategy that saves the computational cost by using expectations derived from probabilistic nature of approximate model is proposed. At every iteration, a candidate test point that seems to be feasible/inactive or has little possibility to improve for minimum is identified and excluded from updating approximate models. By doing that the computational cost is saved without loss of accuracy.

  • This study investigated to the properties of structural behaviors through a series of experiment with the key parameter, such as diameter-to-thickness(D/t) ratio, selenderness ratio of steel t~ube and strength of concrete under loading condition simple confined concrete by steel tube as a fundmental study on adaptability with structural members in high-rise building. The obtained results are sumnarised as follow. (1) The fracture mode of confined concrete was presented digonal tension fracture in the direction of $45^{\circ}$ with compression failure at the end of specimen in stub column, but the fracture mode of long column was assumed an aspect of bending fracture transversely. (2) The deformation capacity and ductility effect was increased by confine steel tube for concrete. (3) 'The emprical formula to predict the ultimate capacity of confined concrete by steel tube and concrete filled steel tube column using restraint of concrete considered D / t ratio, selenderness ratio of steel tube anti strength of' concrete were proposed.

  • A theoretical study of the forced vibration response of a cantilevered beam with non-linear dry friction damping is analyzed by various slip displacements and force levels for the position coordinates of spring-mass-damper and external exciting force. A component mode analysis is carried out based on the constraint conditions and Lagrange multipliers to treat physical systems with non-linear damping. The analysis has shown that the basic phenomena observed for a simply supported beam with a dry friction damper attached are also observed for cantilevered beam.

  • 본 논문에서는 유한요소법을 이용하여 임의의 단면을 가지는 빔의 비틀림 문제를 해석 할 수 있는 방법론을 제시하였다. 빔 유한요소에서 연속적인 뒤틀림함수를 얻기 위해 각 절점에서 뒤틀림자유도를 정의한 후 빔의 길이 방향으로 보간하였다. 이러한 방법의 사용은 뒤틀림구속효과와 비선형문제에 쉽게 접근 할 수 있게 한다. 또한, 임의의 단면에 대한 뒤틀림함수는 각 단면에서 St.Venant 방정식을 유한요소법을 통해 수치적으로 계산된다. 단면에서 계산된 해는 3차원 일반 빔 요소의 변위장에 매핑된다. 위와 같은 절차를 통해 개발된 빔 유한요소를 사용하면 임의의 단면을 가진 빔 구조물을 자유/구속 뒤틀림조건에서 비틀림, 굽힘, 신축 변형이 복합적으로 고려하여 해석해 낼 수 있다. 이렇게 해석된 결과를 검증하기 위하여 사각단면과 L단면에서의 결과 값을 고찰하였다.

  • This paper is concerned on the generation of an optimal section of wing in ground effect by a SQP method which is one of nonlinear optimization techniques. A potential panel method is used for the flow analysis and the ground effect is taken into account by an image method. The numerical method is first verified by an inverse problem where a shape of wing section is sought for the prescribed pressure distribution. The purpose of the present paper is to generate a wing section which can give a maximum lift subjected to the design constraints including the height stability which is important in the WIG design. The effect of the tail wing is also included.

  • Progressive collapse is a chain reaction of failures propagating throughout a portion of a structure that is disproportionate to the original local failure. When column members are subjected to unexpected load (compression load), they will buckle if the applied load is greater than the critical load that induces buckling. The post-buckling strength of the columns will decrease rapidly, but if there is enough residual strength, the members will absorb the potential energy generated by the impact load to prevent progressive collapse. Thus, it is necessary to identify the relationship of the load-deformation of a column member in the progressive collapse of a structure up to final collapse. In this study, we carried out nonlinear FEM analysis and based on deflection theory, we investigated the load-deformation relationship of H-section steel columns when both ends were fixed.

Dynamic Shear Modulus and Damping Ratio of Soft Clay (연약점토의 동력학적 전단탄성계수 및 감쇠비)

  • Considering the effects of confining pressure, initial shear stress, cyclic stress ratio and number of loading cycles, cyclic triaxial tests are carried out to clarify the soil dynamic properties such as shear modulus and value of material damping of clay under undrained cyclic loading conditions. The results show that no obvious dependency on initial shear stress and effective confining stress are recognized in the shear modulus and damping ratio plotted versus strain. However, the shear modulus decreases and the damping ratio increases with increasing axial strain. When compared with others, it is also revealed that the shear moduli are distributed within the range curves obtained using empirical equations derived by Marcuson et al. (3) and Kokusho et al. (4), and damping ratios are distributed between the curves obtained by Kokusho et al. (4) and Ishihara et al. (9).

  • A new guidance law to reach circular target area with grazing angle constraint is proposed as one of midcourse guidance laws of unmanned air vehicles. The purpose of the law is to control the grazing angle between the velocity vector of the vehicle and the line of sight to the aiming point, the center of the circular target area, when the vehicle passes any point on the circle. The optimal solution is derived based on the optimal control theory minimizing a range weighted control energy subject to the nonlinear dynamic equations of the vehicle approaching to the circular target area with grazing angle constraint. The major properties including a convergence of the solution are examined and the performance of the law applied to some typical scenarios is shown by the numerical simulation.

Development and Evaluation of Technique for Analyzing Laterally Loaded Piles (횡방향력을 받는 말뚝의 해석기법 개발 및 평가)

  • A technique for analyzing laterally loaded piles was developed in order to accommodate various loading conditions and unique p-y curves obtained from local site. Developed technique was applied to several problems associated with laterally loaded piles to confirm the reliability of the developed technique. And the influences of the parameters considered in the applications on analysis results were investigated. It can be seen that length of the increment of one half of pile diameter is optimum for accuracy of analysis. Problems associated with safe penetration of pile and buckling of a free standing pile were analyzed by the developed technique. Also, analysis results obtained from considering various pile head conditions of a pile which supports retaining wall were compared. The developed technique can be used as a more flexible tool for analyzing laterally loaded piles than commercial program.
