Fracture of Al2O3 tubes for different loading path under combined tension/torsion was investigated. Macroscopic directions of crack propagation agreed well with the maximum principal stress criterion, independent of the loading path. However, fracture strength from the proportional loading test(τ/σ= constant) showed either strengthening or weakening compared to that from uniaxial tension, depending on the ratio τ/σ. The Weibull theory was capable to predict the strengthening of fracture strength in pure torsion, but not the weakening in the proportional loading condition. The strengthening or weakening of fracture strength in the proportional loading condition was explained by the effect of shear stresses in the plane of randomly oriented microdefects. Finally, a new empirical fracture criterion was proposed. This criterion is based on a mixed mode fracture criterion and experimental data for fracture of Al2O3 tubes under combined tension/torsion. The proposed fracture criterion agreed well with experimental data for both macroscopic directions of crack propagation and fracture strengths.
To avoid abrupt torsional failure due to concrete crushing before yielding of torsional reinforcement and control the diagonal crack width, design codes specify the limitations on the yield strength of torsional reinforcement of RC members. In 2012, Korean Concrete Institute design code increased the allowable maximum yield strength of torsional reinforcement from 400 MPa to 500 MPa based on the analytical and experimental research results. Although there are many studies regarding the shear behavior of RC members with high strength stirrups, limited studies of the RC members regarding the yield strength of torsional reinforcement are available. In this study, twelve RC beams having different yield strength of torsional reinforcement and compressive strength of concrete were tested. The experimental test results indicated that the torsional failure modes of RC beams were influenced by the yield strength of torsional reinforcement and the compressive strength of concrete. The test beams with normal strength torsional reinforcement showed torsional tension failure, while the test beams with high strength torsional reinforcement greater than 480 MPa showed torsional compression failure. Therefore, additional analytical and experimental works on the RC members subjected to torsion, especially the beams with high strength torsional reinforcement, are needed to find an allowable maximum yield strength of torsional reinforcement.
This paper presents the results of an analytical and experimental study on the performance of reinforced concrete beams subjected to pure torsion. The main parameters of the experimental tests were amount of torsional reinforcement and the ratio of the transverse torsional reinforcement to the longitudinal torsional reinforcement. The test results indicated that the maximum amount of torsional reinforcement required in ACI 318-05 code underestimated almost twice as much as the observed maximum amount of torsional reinforcement. Comparisons between the tested and calculated torsional behaviors of the 102 beams showed that the torsional failure modes of ACI 318-05 code disagreed with the observed failure modes. In addition, the torsion provisions in ACI 318-05 code overestimate the torsional strength of the RC beams in which relatively large amount of torsional reinforcement were reinforced, while underestimate for the beams with small amount of torsional reinforcement. This discrepancy between the theoretical ultimate torsional strength as given by the ACI 318-05 code and the experimental one can be due to neglecting the tension stiffening effect and the contribution of the torsional strength by concrete.

Post-installed anchors were widely used due to its workable benefits. Regarding the resistance performance of anchors, the critical edge distance is presented to minimize the impact of concrete splitting. In the case of actual anchors, however, it is difficult to obtain the ideal edge distance. The purpose of this study is to identify resistance performance and behavior characteristics that contain complex elements such as concrete crack occurring under tensile load. Tensile tests were conducted based on the standard method. Failure shape and the resistance characteristics that do not have the critical edge distance were derived by tensile load. Parametric analysis according to the boundary condition was performed to simulate the actual tensile behavior, through a nonlinear finite element model based on the specimen. Consequently therefore, verifying analysis results the resistance mechanism can be applied through boundary conditions.

In this study, we developed an ultra-thin flexible printed circuit board(FPCB) using the sputtered flexible copper clad laminate. In order to enhance the adhesion between copper and polyimide substrate, a NiMoNb addition layer was applied. The mechanical durability and flexibility of the ultra-thin FPCB were characterized by stretching, twisting, bending fatigue test, and peel test. The stretching test reveals that the ultra-thin FPCB can be stretched up to 7% without failure. The twisting test shows that the ultra-thin FPCB can withstand an angle of up to $120^{\circ}$. In addition, the bending fatigue test shows that the FPCB can withstand 10,000 bending cycles. Numerical analysis of the stress and strain during stretching indicates the strain and the maximum von Mises stress of the ultra-thin FPCB are comparable to those of the conventional FPCB. Even though the ultra-thin FPCB shows slightly lower durability than the conventional FPCB, the ultra-thin FPCB has enough durability and robustness to apply in industry.
Fracture of Al2O3 tubes for different loading path under combined tension/torsion was investigated. Macroscopic directions of crack propagation agreed well with the maximum principal stress criterion, independent of the loading path. Post-tensioned Precast concrete System(PPS) consists of U-shaped precast wide beams and concrete column. The continuity of beam-column joint is provided with floor concrete cast on the PC shell beam and post-tensioning. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the response of PPS interior beam-column joint subjected to cyclic lateral loading. To this end, an experimental investigation was performed with three half-scale specimens of interior connection. The design parameters are the amount of beam reinforcement placed inside the joint core. The test results showed that cracks were distributed well without my significant degradation of strength and ductility. Also, it was found that the prestressing may affect to alter the torsional crack angle. And the specimens sufficiently resist up to limiting drift ratio of 0.035 in accordance with the provisional by ACl of acceptance criteria for concrete special moment frames.
