Performance of Concatenated Reed-Solomon and Convolutional Codes for Digital Modems in HF Data Communications (HF 데이터 통신에서 디지털 모뎀을 위한 RS 및 컨볼루션 부호의 연접 부호 성능)

  • In this paper, we propose an improved error correction code in order to improve the performance of digital modems for HF data communications and verify the performance of the proposed scheme. The proposed scheme employs outer Reed-Solomon codes concatenated with inner convolutional codes. Numerical results show that the proposed system significantly improves the bit error rate performance compared to the conventional PACTOR-III modems. Hence, the proposed system can improve the bandwidth efficiency of digital modems for HF data communications.

  • In this paper, we Investigate the $Q^2PSK$ modulation and demodulation system and analyze the BER performance of the receiver system under 2-way Rayleigh fading and Gaussian noisy channel environment. The TDL equalizer with the adaptive LMS algorithm is used to improve the receiver performance since the received signal is distorted through that channel and the recovered carrier from the noncoherent demodulation has much phase deviation error. From the results of computer simulation, It is shown that at 12dB SNR, the reception performance is improved by $83.7\%$ in the fading case, $89.3\%$ in the carrier phase error case and $60.4\%$ in the case of the fading and carrier phase error.

  • In this paper, we explain the combined scheme of multi-code modulation and trans-orthogonal modulation. The name of the explained scheme is the multi-code trans-orthogonal modulation. Additionally, we propose a multi-code trans-biorthogonal modulation scheme, which is a little more improved multi-code trans-orthogonal modulation. We show the performance of the proposed schemes and compare the performance of the proposed schemes with the orthogonal modulation by using the computer simulation. According to the computer simulations, we can know that the bandwidth efficiency of the proposed schemes is better than that of the conventional orthogonal modulation. The proposed schemes can be used in physical layer of digital wireless telecommunication system to provide high speed data rate.

  • 최근들어 초광대역 시간 도약 임펄스 무선 전송(ultra wideband time hopping impulse radio; 이하 IR) 기술이 실내 무선 LAN이나 군용 무선 통신 시스템 등을위한 새로운대역 확산 전송 방식으로서 큰 관심을 모으고 있다 IR 시스템은 1(nsec) 이하의 매우 짧은 펄스폭의 펄스 위치 변조(pulse position modulation)된 가우시안 모노사이클 펄스열을 이용함으로서 매우작은 크기 의수 GHz에 이르는 초광대역 스펙트럼을 가지며 기존의 통신 시스템에 거의 간섭을 미치지 않으면서 사용 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 IR 시스템에 M진 (M-ary) PPM 방식을 적용하는 경우의 성능을 평가하였다. 특시 의사 잡음 부호 발생기와 10진 변환기(decimator)로 구성된 시간 도약 패턴을 사용하여 다원 접속 간섭이 배제되는 부가성 백색 가우시안 잡음 채널 하의 동기식(synchronous) IR 시스템에서, 심벌 수, M, 가우시안 모노사이클 펄스 폭 $\tau$$_{p}$, PPM에서 펄스 간 간격$\delta$, 펄스 반복 횟수 N$_{s}$ 등과 같은 다양한 시스템 파라미터의 조합에 따른 성능 변화를 모의 실험을 통해 확인하였으며, 이러한 결과를 통해 비트 오율, 시스템 복잡도 및 전송율 등의 사양에 따라 적합한 M 진 PPM IR 시스템의 구성 방안에 대한 근거를 제공하였다.

An Effective Clipped Companding Scheme for PAPR Reduction of OFDM Signals (OFDM 신호의 PAPR 감소를 위한 효과적인 Clipped Companding 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a companding scheme to effectively reduce PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) of the OFDM (Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing) signals. The proposed scheme is basically based on the companding scheme to consider both complexity and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance, and composed of the clipping followed by the companding scheme. In the first step of the proposed scheme, some of peak signals which do not influence the BER even without them, are clipped. In the second step, the proposed scheme utilizes the ${\mu}-law$ companding to effectively reduce the PAPR. Simulation results show that the proposed clipped companding scheme can provide more PAPR reduction without degradation of the BER performance, as compare to the conventional ${\mu}-law$ companding.

Design and Implementation of Real Time AGC for Satellite TDMA Communication Systems (위성 시분할다중접속 통신시스템을 위한 실시간 자동이득제어기 설계 및 구현)

  • Channel attenuation must be taken into account when designing Time Division Multiple Access(TDMA) communication systems. In addition, Automatic Gain Control (ACG) is a requirement in satellite communication systems in order to form a stable network regardless of rapidly changes in channel environment. In this study, we present an AGC with possible real-time application to time slots in satellite TDMA communication systems. A satellite TDMA system was designed and implemented in order to test the performance of the proposed real-time AGC, and the system's BER (Bit Error Rate) was found by applying the proposed AGC algorithm. These results can be expected to be of high value in improving the stability of satellite TDMA communication systems in the future.

  • In the noncoherent methods for UWB-IR (ultra-wideband impulse radio), block coded modulation (BCM) is better than the transmitted reference (TR) systems in terms of the energy efficiency and data rate. However, even BCM suffers from the performance degradation in the presence of strong inter-frame interference and inter symbol interference. We propose the transmitted reference based on the BCM (TR-BCM) which is the hybrid system of TR and BCM. Performance evaluation shows that the performance of TR-BCM is better than that of BCM in the high SNR range.

  • 중계 기술은 음영지역 해소 및 전송 용량 증대를 위해 기지국과 단말기 사이에 중계기(relay)의 도움을 받아 정보를 전송하는 통신 기술이다. 이 논문에서는 좁고 긴 도로상에 구성되는 선형 클러스터(linear cluster) 자동차 통신 환경을 고려하여 사용자와 중계기 그리고 기지국이 선형 네트워크로 구성됨을 가정한다. 이를 통해 본 논문에서는 선형 네트워크 시스템에서 다중 사용자와 다중 중계기가 존재할 때 최적 중계기 선택 기법을 통한 새로운 중계 전송 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 중계 전송 기법에서는 사용자와 중계기의 신호 전송을 위해 시분할 방식으로 채널이 할당된다고 가정한다. 첫 번째 전송단계에서는 모든 사용자들이 자신의 신호를 중계기와 기지국으로 전송한다. 기지국에서는 사용자들로부터 전송된 신호의 세기를 기반으로 재전송이 필요한 사용자들을 분류하고 이 사용자들만 중계기를 통해 재전송되도록 한다. 두 번째 전송단계에서는 중계기에서 재전송이 필요한 사용자들 중 일부 사용자들의 정보를 결합하여 기지국으로 재전송한다. 기지국에서는 앞의 두 전송단계를 통해 수신된 신호를 바탕으로 모든 사용자들의 정보를 복호한다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 비트오율(BER) 성능을 보인다.

  • In this paper, we realized a transceiver system for short distance communication with a commercial RF module working in ISM band. Also we measured system performance by transmitting baseband data in a building and then we compared the demodulated data bits with stored data bits in a PC connected with demodulator. The RF module In the experiments works only in the bandwidth of 424MHz-429MHz. The signal level degrades as the distance between transmitter and receiver increases. We measured the signal level and bit error and present the measured results with various locations in the building. And it is concluded that the measured data may be used in the design of short distance network in a building.

  • The multicode CDMA systems that are widely studied as an effective transmission methodology in the IMT-2000 systems, employ orthogonal codes to transform high rate data into parallel, low rate data for simultaneous transmission. In this paper, we propose a new multicode CDMA system which achieves the same data rate and processing gain of the conventional systems, while significantly improves bit error rate performance by exploiting a convolutional code with code rate r=1/2 and a bi-orthogonal code. The simulation results for synchronous systems using maximal ratio combining Rake receivers under additive white Gaussian noise and multi-path fading channels, show significant improviements by the proposed system.
