In this paper, we propose an object-based stereo sequence compression technique using disparity-motion vector relationship. The proposed method uses the coherence of motion vectors and disparity vectors in the left and right Image sequences. After two motion vectors and one disparity vector ate computed using FBMA(Fixed Block Matching Algorithm), the disparity vector of the current stereoscopic pall is computed by disparity-motion vector relationship with vectors which are previously estimated. Moreover, a vector regularization technique is applied in order to obtain reliable vectors. For an object-based coding. the object is defined and coded in terms of layers of VOP such as in MPEG-4. we present a method using disparity and motion vector relationship for extending two-frame compensation into three-frame compensation method for prediction coding of B-VOP. The proposed algorithm shows a high performance when comparing with a conventional method.

In this paper, we demonstrate that the directivity of the CPW(Coplanar Waveguide) directional coupler with finite-extent backed conductor is enhanced by eliminating center region of backed conductor appropriately. If the backed conductor is removed at center region of couplers, the couplers have two backed conductors. If effective odd mode dielectric constant is decreased at center region, the electrical length for odd mode is changed and phase velocity is same at the directional couplers. Hence, directivity is improved. The eliminated length is solved by an odd and even mode analysis. The designed moderate CPW directional coupler with the proposed compensation structure has excellent directivity and matching characteristic at center frequency in simulation and measurement.
Detection of an underwater target by acoustic wave raises various difficulties due to unpredictable noise interference which originates from clutter, reverberation, and variations of medium characteristics with time and location. The SNR and the range resolution of conventional SONAR systems using a matched filter are generally poor, since the latter is optimum only in the additive white noise case. Furthermore, it cannot compensate for variations of the detection level which are responsible for the resultant detection errors. In this paper, the unpredictable interferences are compensated for by using an adaptive filter. It recursively estimates the channel impulse response based on the received echo signal. In the low noise environments, the estimated impulse response is close to the true one, providing a good range resolution, and a matched filter is used subsequently for the purpose of detection. It is shown through computer simulation that good performance can be achieved via the two steps of filtering. Also, the detection level remains unchanged without any additional provisions. Finally, we present the characteristics of the employed adaptive filter parameters.

In this paper, the RTA-ERP(Response Time Aligned-Evoked Relative Potential) was modelled to analyze the effect of motor activation pattern in response to visual sensory stimuli. Simon effect was analysed using the amplitude response of RTA-ERP and measured response time. The 'odd number' experiments, which identify an odd number mixed with same numbers, was performed with 15 healthy adult participants(9 males and 6 females, whose mean age of 31) for 7 minutes for each participant. Throughout experimentation, we observed that the proposed RTA-ERP can compensate the timing variation due to different neural processing procedures in the brain, and shows enhanced LRP(Lateralized Readiness Potential) and Pe(Error Related Positivity). Regarding to 'congruence' and 'incongruence' testing patterns, the amplitude of RTA-ERP and the response time for the 'congruence' are $0.03{\mu}V$ larger, and 43 ms faster than those for the 'incongruence', respectively. The amplitude characteristics of RTA-ERP, obtained by synchronizing the onset times with respect to response time, corresponds more likely to that of P300 in the ERP pattern (the characteristics of the Simon effect).

This paper presents a novel de-interlacing algorithm that can make up motion compensation errors by using maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimator. First, a proper registration is performed between a current field and its adjacent fields, and the progressive frame corresponding to the current field is found via MAP estimator based on the computed registration information. Here, in order to obtain a stable solution, well-known bilateral total variation (BTV)-based regularization is employed. Next, so-called feathering artifacts are detected on a block basis effectively. So, edge-directional interpolation is applied to the pixels where feathering artifact may happen, instead of the above-mentioned temporal de-interlacing. Experimental results show that the PSNR of the proposed algorithm is on average 4dB higher than that of previous studies and provides the better subjective quality than the previous works.

In this paper, a variable motion estimation scheme based on HBMA(Hierarchical Block Matching Algorithm) to improve the performance and to reduce heavy computational and transmission load, is presented. The proposed algorithm is composed of four steps. First, block activity for each block is defined using the edge information of differential image between two sequential images, and then average block activity of the present image is found by taking the mean of block activity. Secondly, camera pan compensation is carried out, according to the average activity of the image, in the hierarchical pyramid structure constructed by wavelet transform. Next, the LUT classifying each block into one among Moving, No Moving, Semi-Moving Block according to the block activity compensated camera pan is obtained. Finally, as varying the block size and adaptively selecting the initial search layer and the search range referring to LUT, the proposed variable HBMA can effectively carries out fast motion estimation in the hierarchical pyramid structure. The cost function needed above-mentioned each step is only the block activity defined by the edge information of the differential image in the sequential images.

Using InGaP/GaAs HBT power cells with a 2.0${\times}$20$\mu\textrm{m}$$^2$ emitter area of a unit HBT, a two stage MMIC power amplifier has been developed for IMT-2000 handsets. An active-bias circuit has been used for temperature compensation and reduction in the idling current. Fitting on measured S-parameters of the HBT cells, circuit elements of HBT's nonlinear equivalent model have been extracted. The matching circuits have been designed basically with the extracted model. A two stage HBT MMIC power amplifier fabricated using ETRI's HBT process. The power amplifier produces an 1-㏈ compressed output power(P$\_$l-㏈/) of 28.4 ㏈m with 31% power added efficiency(PAE) and 23-㏈ power gain at 1.95 GHz in on-wafer measurement. Also, the power amplifier produces a 26 ㏈m output power, 28% PAE and a 22.3-㏈ power gain with a -40 ㏈c ACPR at a 3.84 ㎒ off-center frequency in COB measurement.quency in COB measurement.
In ocean acoustic tomography (OAT), the pulse compression techniques using M-sequences are employed in the many studies for investigating the ocean structures. M-sequences can provide the good time and Doppler resolution in the process of demodulation using matched-filter. The signal-to-noise (SNR) performance at the output of receiver may be improved by manipulating received signal, i. e. coherently averaging. The processing time can be significantly reduced by using fast hadarmard transform (FHT) or fast Fourier transform (FFT). In this paper, we estimate the multipath arrival structures and delay times using the East Korean Sea experiment data and explore the compensation method for the detrimental effects on performance due to sampling rate error. We also analyze the characteristics of the ocean acoustic channels through scattering function, delay power profile, and time dispersions.

In video standards such as H.264/AVC, motion estimation (ME) / compensation (MC) is regarded as a vital component in a video coder as it consumes a large amount of computation resources. The full search technique, which is used in general video codecs, gives the highest visual quality but also has the problem of significant computational load. To solve this problem, many fast algorithm has benn proposed. Among them, NPDS show that can maintain its video quality very close to the full search technique while achieving computation reduction by using a halfway-stop technique in the calculation of block distortion measure. In this paper, we proposed algorithm by determining minimum distortion measure with predictive motion vector and using the new search order. As the result, we can check that the proposed algorithm reduces the computational load 95% in average compared to the full search, respectively with the PSNR lost about 0.04dB.
