The Concepts of Weight Control and Dietary Behavior in High School Seniors (고등학교 3학년생의 체중조절에 대한 인식과 관련 식행동 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the concepts of body image, weight control and food behavior in 520 Korean high school seniors from Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate body image, concern of weight control, experience of weight control, the first time to try weight control, plan for weight control, reasons of weight control and food behaviors related with weight control. Anthropometric parameters such as weight and height were measured. Finally, data from 497 high school seniors were used for statistical analysis. The results were as follows. Many subjects had misperceptions. Among the subjects who perceived themselves as 'fat', 57.8% were normal weight and 0.5% underweight. Among the subjects who perceived themselves as 'thin', 59.5% were normal weight, 0.9% overweight and 0.9% obese. Girls were more concerned about weight control than boys (4.20 vs. 3.66). Weight loss had been experienced by 61.5% of the subjects and weight gain by 12.8%. First weight control was attempted by 71.3% of the subject at high school and by 28.7% at middle school. The majority of subjects planned for weight control before their freshman year. The boys choose 'health' as the primary reason for weight control, whereas the girls chose 'good appearance'. The total score of food behaviors varied significantly according to BMI. Overweight and obese subjects had more desirable food behaviors than normal weight and underweight subjects (24.00, 24.06 vs. 21.92, 21.52). However, total scores of food behaviors showed no variation according to sex, weight control attempt and body image. In conclusion, the high school seniors had misconceptions about body image and weight control. They were exposed to a high risk of inappropriate weight control and food behaviors. Therefore, proper nutritional education programs need to be developed for high school seniors to prevent nutrition problems related to weight control and to maintain desirable food behaviors.

Design and Theoretical Analysis of a Stepwise Intrusion Prevention Scheme (단계적 비정상 트래픽 대응 기법 설계 및 이론적 분석)

  • Recently, there is much abnormal traffic driven by several worms, such as Nimda, Code Red, SQL Stammer, and so on, making badly severe damage to networks. Meanwhile, diverse prevention schemes for defeating abnormal traffic have been studied in the academic and commercial worlds. In this paper, we present the structure of a stepwise intrusion prevention system that is designed with the feature of putting limitation on the network bandwidth of each network traffic and dropping abnormal traffic, and then compare the proposed scheme with a pre-existing scheme, which is a True/False based an anomaly prevention scheme for several worm-patterns. There are two criteria for comparison of the schemes, which are Normal Traffic Rate (NTR) and False Positive Rate (FPR). Assuming that the abnormal traffic rate of a specific network is $\beta$ during a predefined time window, it is known that the average NTR of our stepwise intrusion prevention scheme increases by the factor of (1+$\beta$)/2 than that of True/False based anomaly prevention scheme and the average FPR of our scheme decrease by the factor of (1+$\beta$)/2.

Analysis on High School Students' Recognitions and Expressions of Changes in Concentration as a Rate of Change (변화율 관점에서 농도 변화에 대한 인식과 표현의 변화 과정에 대한 분석)

  • The aim of the present study is twofold. One is to confirm a hypothesis that a student's rate concept influences her conceiving change of a function in the view of rate of change and the other is to build up foundations for understanding the transition process from her rate concept to the concept of rate of change when she investigates the change of concentration as an intensive quantity. We explored how three participating high school students recognized and expressed change of given functions by using their rate concept as a conceptual tool. The result indicates that a change in students' rate concept might have an effect on understanding how function values change in term of rate of change. We also expect that it could be a catalyst for further research for clarifying the relationship between students' rate concept and their development of a concept of rate of change as a foundation for learning calculus.

Effect of Substituting Coal Fly Ash of Sawdust as a Bulking Agent for Swine Waste Composting (석탄회(石炭灰)(Coal fly ash)의 양돈분뇨처리(養豚糞尿處理) 부자재(副資材) 대체이용(代替利用)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was carried out to investigate how much coal fly ash could be substituted for sawdust as a bulking agent for livestock waste composting. The mixtures of coal fly ash and sawdust in the weight ratio of 8 to 2, 7 to 3, 6 to 4, 5 to 5, 4 to 6, 3 to 7 and 2 to 8 were added to livestock waste as the bulking agent. The same amount of the bulking agents and livestock waste was mixed and composted during 21 days. Following effects were analyzed during composting experiment : the variation of temperature, pH and various compound contents. The results were summarized as follows: The more the sawdust was added, the higher the maximum temperature in slurry type livestock farm but faster it reached in scrapper type. Water content was maintained under good condition by adding the bulking agent mixed of the same amount of coal fly ash and sawdust. pH was in the range of 7~10 by adding the bulking agent mixed of the same amount of coal fly ash and sawdust. The more the sawdust was added, the higher organic matter content was measured. Nitrogen content with increasing the amount of sawdust added but it was higher did not showed any tendency Organic matter/Nitrogen ratio reduced during the composting period in scrapper type but it showed contrary tendency in slurry type with that of scrapper type.

  • The hypotheses of difference, ratio and odds ratio between two proportions are used for the non-inferiority trial. The approximate unconditional test suggested by Kang and Chen (2000) based on difference and ratio have the potential problem against the failure rate. When the sample size is small, the type I errors of the asymptotic test using the normal approximation suggested by Chen et al. (2000) tends to exceed the nominal level. Therefore, we propose the approximate unconditional test based on odds ratio and compare the test with the asymptotic test. And we compare the three hypotheses used in the approximate unconditional tests of two proportions with respect to the type I errors and power.

Comparison of Yield and Quality between Organic Cultivation and Conventional Cultivation in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Field (벼 유기재배와 관행재배의 수량과 품질 비교)

  • 본 연구에서는 2008년 전라남도 나주시 반남지역과 노안지역 두 곳의 벼 농가포장에서 유기재배 및 관행(일반)재배 시험을 수행하고 벼 병충해발생, 생육 및 수량, 그리고 쌀의 품위 및 품질을 비교 분석하였다. 시험의 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 벼 병충해 방제는 노안지역 관행재배는 2회, 반남지역 관행재배는 4회 실시하였으며 유기재배는 노안, 반남지역 모두 2회 실시하였다. 포장에서 벼 병해충은 줄무늬잎마름병, 잎도열병, 이삭도열병, 잎집무늬마름병, 흰잎마름병, 혹명나방, 멸구류가 주로 발생하였다. 벼 병해충 중 잎도열병, 이삭도열병, 혹명나방은 관행재배보다 유기재배에서 발생이 많았다. 2) 벼생육상황은 간장이나 수장은 관행재배에 비해 유기재배에서 약간 짧은 경향이었다. 노안지역은 유기재배의 경우 관행재배에 비해 주당수수는 0.6개 정도 많았으나 수당입수, 등숙비율, 정현비율, 현미 천립중이 낮았다. 반면 반남지역은 유기재배의 경우 관행재배에 비해 주당수수는 0.8개 정도 적었으나 수당입수와 등숙비율은 높았고 정현비율은 낮았다. 전체 수량은 유기재배가 관행재배에 비해 노안지역은 84% 수준이고, 반남지역은 94% 수준이었다. 3) 쌀의 품위는 노안지역과 반남지역 두 지역 모두 완전립율이 관행 재배보다 유기재배에서 낮은 경향을 보였다. 쌀의 품질은 반남지역의 경우 유기재배시 기비로 사용한 질소가 관행재배에 비해 많아서 늦게 비효가 발현되어 이삭도열병, 혹명나방 피해가 발생하여 관행재배에 비해 단백질, 취반미 윤기치값이 낮았다. 반면 노안지역의 경우 유기재배시 기비로 사용한 질소가 관행재배에 비해 적어서 관행재배보다 단백질, 백도, 취반미 윤기치 값 등에서 양호하게 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 소비자들에게 홍보하여 이들로부터 소비를 촉진케 함으로써 벼 유기재배 농가의 소득증대에 기어코자 한다.

  • 비구조적인 피어-투-피어 시스템은 구조적 피어-투-피어 시스템에 비해 동적인 상황에 적합하지만 메시지가 여러 다른 피어를 이동하면서 검색하기 때문에 검색 시간이 길고 검색의 성공률이 낮다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 우수 피어를 사용한 계층적 피어-투-피어 시스템이 연구 되었다. 효율적인 계층적 피어-투-피어 시스템을 구성하기 위해서는 어떤 피어가 얼마나 많이 우수 피어로 선택되어야 하는지가 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 연구된 자기 조직적 링 구조 기법을 기반으로 우수 피어의 비율을 환경에 적응하게 하는 시스템을 제안한다. 환경에 적합한 비율 조절을 위해 효율적으로 최적 또는 최적에 가까운 해를 찾는 것으로 알려진 입자 군집 최적화(PSO : Particle Swarm Optimization)기법을 사용하였고 성능 평가 결과 PSO를 적용한 시스템에서 성능 향상을 볼 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 순차주사 CCD 이미지 센서를 위한 채널내 상관관계를 이용한 가변 칼라비율을 가진 칼라 보간법을 제안했다. 제안된 가변 칼라 비율은 채널내 상관관계뿐만 아니라 채널간의 상관관계를 이용하며 경계부근과 복잡한 국소지점에 나타난 왜곡된 칼라를 제거했다 채널간 상관관계를 이용한 가변 칼라비율을 가진 칼라 보간법은 기존의 접근 방법에 비해 주관적 그리고 객관적인 화질로 모두 우수한 결과를 실험적으로 보였다.

An Analysis on the Epistemological Obstacles of Elementary Students in the Learning of Ratio and Rate (비와 비율 학습에서 나타나는 초등학교 학생들의 인식론적 장애 분석)

  • Many obstacles have been found in the learning of ratio and rate. The types of epistemological obstacles concern 'terms', 'calculations' and 'symbols'. It is important to identify the epistemological obstacles that students must overcome to understand the learning of ratio and rate. In this respect, the present study attempts to figure out what types of epistemological obstacles emerge in the area of learning ratio and rate and where these obstacles are generated from and to search for the teaching implications to correct them. The research questions were to analyze this concepts as follow; A. How do elementary students show the epistemological obstacles in ratio and rate? B. What is the reason for epistemological obstacles of elementary students in the learning of ratio and rate? C. What are the teaching implications to correct epistemological obstacles of elementary students in the learning of ratio and rate? In order to analyze the epistemological obstacles of elementary students in the learning of ratio and rate, the present study was conducted in five different elementary schools in Seoul. The test was administered to 138 fifth grade students who learned ratio and rate. The test was performed three times during six weeks. In case of necessity, additional interviews were carried out for thorough examination. The final results of the study are summarized as follows. The epistemological obstacles in the learning of ratio and rate can be categorized into three types. The first type concerns 'terms'. The reason is that realistic context is not sufficient, a definition is too formal. The second type of epistemological obstacle concerns 'calculations'. This second obstacle is caused by the lack of multiplication thought in mathematical problems. As a result of this study, the following conclusions have been made. The epistemological obstacles cannot be helped. They are part of the natural learning process. It is necessary to understand the reasons and search for the teaching implications. Every teacher must try to develop the teaching method.
