A Study on the Great Nest of Being in Major Systems of Religious Thought in the World: With Daesoon Thought as a Comparison (세계 주요 종교사상의 존재의 대둥지(The Great Nest of Being) 고찰 - 대순사상과 비교하여 -)

  • 'The Great Nest of Being (The Great Chain of Being)' is a key ontological concept in Perennial Philosophy. The Great Nest of Being shows the depth of the world's religions that have existed historically, and in this context, they represent holarchies of existence and consciousness. This paper examines the nests of various beings in order to grasp the depths of the world's mainstream religions, and reveals that the great nest of being that appear in the Daesoon Thought has the characteristic of synthesizing other nests that have emerged previously in history. According to Perennial Philosophy, the differences among different religions in regards to ultimate reality are not differences in reality but merely differences in semantics. In other words, these differences are only 'different expressions of the same ultimate reality.' Thus, linguistically, ultimate reality in the great nest of being can be summarized as the 'same in what is signifié (signified, 記意)' and 'different in the signifiant (signifier, 記標).' As stated in a preceding study; however, ultimate reality in Daesoon Thought is both transcendent and personal, as well as intrinsic and impersonal. This fact is specifically stated in the Four Tenets (4大 宗旨) of Daesoon Thought. In other words, the Tenets of Daesoon implicitly acknowledge not only the concepts of reality and the direction that emerges from the base of existence in existing systems of religious thought, but also can encompass the ideologies of those systems of religious thought. Considering the four quadrants as the Kosmos (AQAL), it encompasses a universal ideology. Therefore, the tenets of Daesoon Thought encompass the same significance (meaning) of the major systems of religious thought throughout the world in regards to ultimate reality and provide a clue to the solution to the presence of different signifiers (signs).

  • Space design in the 21st century has been developed in connection with media more various than ever. In the age of image represented by popular culture, space design connected with media is based on post-reason thoughts constituting the post-modern society, and reflects polysemously and pluralistically changes in the society through the identification of art with life. The movie, which is an image perceived particularly sensibly and the most impractical simulated image among various illusionary media images composing the contemporary society, is growing rapidly in interrelation with various fields of art based on its peculiar nature, and its influence is getting more extensive. The movie manipulates mass society to create what does not exist and restore lost images into new realities through the reproduction of extremely realistic senses, and uses them in establishing virtual realities and creating illusionary images representing the age of simularc. The illusionary expression of the movie produces new meanings through disintegrating existing meanings and recombining them, and expresses popular culture from a position closest to our everyday life. Such an analytical attitude toward the illusionary movie reflecting our society can be a new approach to space design. The present study attempts to suggest the possibility of applying such an illusionary characteristic of the movie as a methodology of space design by utilizing the characteristic as a conceptual language of space design.

The Effect of Problem-Based Learning on Student's Creativity in Middle School Science Class (중학교 과학수업에서 문제중심학습이 창의력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of Problem-Based Learning on Student's Creativity Ability in Middle School Science Class. The experimental group had Problem-Based Learning classes for six weeks and control group had traditional inquiry instruction for the same period. The results of this study presents that Problem-Based Learning is significantly effective for the improvement of creative skills test and creative tendencies. And PBL group student's had positive thinking for PBL. It's not easy to generalize these results because of many different variables. but the results suggests that teachers should make an effort to improve student's creativity applying Problem-Based Learning. And it's necessary to develop many kinds of problems and teacher's instruction method to enrich creativity in the process of Problem-Based Learning.

  • This paper verifies the performance of the wireless-signal map-matching (WSMM) method that is recently proposed to mitigate the effects of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) error in positioning under wireless terrestrial network environments. The WSMM method is the new positioning technology that estimates and compensate the NLOS errors by processing the bulks of anonymous measurements at unknown locations that are collected randomly and automatically. The WSMM method would be advantageous for various configurations of future ubiquitous sensor networks since it is based on the existing network configuration for communication and it requires no additional hardware in base stations and mobile handsets. It is shown that the application of the WSMM concept to the real CDMA pilot strength measurment message (PSMM) actually mitigates the NLOS error effects and improves overall positioning accuracy.

The Philosophical Status of Scientific Theories for Science Education (과학교육을 위한 과학이론의 철학적 위치)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the philosophical position of various scientific theories based on the scientific worldviews for science education. In addition, it aims to expand science education, which has usually dealt with epistemology and methodology, to ontology, that is, to the problem of metaphysics. It can be said that there exists a physical realism, traditionally defined as a strong determinism of the metaphysical belief. That is fixed and unchanging objective scientific knowledge independent of our minds, which was established by Newton, Einstein and Schridinger. What can be seen in the natural laws of dynamics can be called 'mathematicization'. Einstein also shook the traditional views to some extent through the theory of relativity, but his theory was still close to traditional thinking. On the contrary, to escape from this rigid determinism, we need anthropomorphic concepts such as 'possibility' and 'chance'. It is a characteristic of the modern scientific worldviews that leads the change of scientific theory from a classically strong deterministic thought to a weak deterministic accidental accident, probability theory, and a naturalistic point of view. This can be said to correspond to Darwin's theory of evolution and quantum mechanics. We can have three types of epistemological worlds that justify this ontological worldviews. These are rationalism, empiricism and naturalism. In many cases, science education does not tell us what kind of metaphysical beliefs the scientific theories we deal with in the field of education are based on. Also, science education focuses only on the understanding of scientific knowledge. However, it can be said that true knowledge can bring understanding only when it is connected to the knowledge of learned knowledge and the learner's own metaphysical belief in the world. Therefore, in the future, science education needs to connect various scientific theories based on scientific worldviews and philosophical position and present them to students.

Matter and Becoming in Gilbert Simondon's Theory of Individuation (물질과 생성: 질베르 시몽동의 개체화론을 중심으로)

  • Simondon's theory of individuation and methodology of transduction presents a possibility of contemporary natural philosophy and a new perspective about the relation between philosophy and sciences. According to Simondon's anti-substantial viewpoint, being, as a metastable system charged with potential energy, complicates itself with quantum leaps transversing successive equilibriums. Individuation is the becoming of phases of being which transits from preindividual state to individuated states. Physical individuation as a paradigmatic model of individuation in general demonstrates not only insufficiency of form-oriented hylomorphism, but also spontaneous formational capacity of matter and reality of energetic relational operation immanent in matter. Genesis of a individual (structure or form) occurs as a resolution of the disparation between orders of magnitude, that is, the difference of potentials immanent in nature through the internal resonance, communication by information, transductive relation between the opposites. I'm trying to show that Simondon revives 'physis' of ancient natural philosophy by his own transductive applications of contemporary physics' conceptions, and therefore suggest a new non-reductive materialism. Especially Simondon's 'transduction' which is neither induction, deduction, nor dialectic, but an original ontological process and a peculiar method of thinking, I think, is worthy of note in order to construct network of knowledge and inter-relation between various sciences.

Fusion Factor Analysis of Seal Wandangyego Engraved by Oh Gyuil (오규일이 새긴 인장 완당예고의 융합 요소 분석)

  • This study attempted to publicize the excellence of art of seal engraving in the Joseon Dynasty by analyzing the fusion factors of seal 'Wandangyego' which Oh Gyuil engraved. The appearance of Wandangyego was compared with other seals. The calligraphy philosophy in Wandangyego, the composition of inmun Wan-Dang-Ye-Go, and Oh Gyuil's method of holding graver were analyzed. As a result, Wandangyego was the world's largest rectangular seal and contained the writing philosophy of his teacher Kim Junghee. Oh Gyuil was a seal engraving artist and expert in the manufacture of seal handles. He used 'chungdo' and 'jeoldo' appropriately, and stimulated the deliberate emotion of oriental art with layout applied with exquisite oriental golden ratio. The importance of the real seal was suggested, and it was proved that the seal Wandangyego was a prominent work worldwide. The results of this study are expected to be a new research methodology for analyzing the fusion factors in painting, sculpture and design.
