Estimating VaR(Value-at-Risk) of non-listed and newly listed companies using Case Based Reasoning (사례기반추론을 이용한 비상장기업 및 신규상장기업의 VaR 추정)

  • Estimating the Value-at-Risk (VaR) of a non-listed or newly listed company in stock market is impossible due to lack of stock exchange data. This study employes Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) for estimating VaR's of those companies. CBR enables us to identify and select existing companies that have similar financial and non-financial characteristics to the unlisted target company. The VaR's of those selected companies can give estimates of VaR for the target company. We developed a system called VAS-CBR and showed how well the system estimates the VaR's of unlisted companies.

  • There has been a lot of research on the creation of emergency evacuation simulators for analyzing the evacuation behaviors. However, it is remarkable that there are very few research on the characteristic of the behavior pattern in crowing, especially the evacuation time delay caused by the collisions and falling-downs, etc. In addition, it is necessary to point out the lack of the research on specifying the location where the collisions and the falling-downs take places. This research aims at creating an emergency evacuation simulator which takes the characteristic of the behavior pattern in crowing - collisions, falling downs, etc - into account. We are also hoping that it will be possible to provide more accurate and useful data ffr emergency evacuation system design through using this simulator.

  • Aircraft Auxiliary Power Unit can start and operate using not only main fuel(JP-8) but also specified emergency fuels for emergency operation. In oder to verify emergency fuel requirement, emergency fuel test using commercial diesel fuel was performed. Changes in specific fuel consumption due to use of diesel fuel are 3.5%~7.8%, which satisfied requirement. Diesel fuel showed similar starting characteristic to the JP-8. The specific fuel consumption of diesel increased by 2.0%~3.4% compared with that of JP-8.

  • The emergency evacuation support system supports evacuation assistance when an urgent disaster occurs. We have implemented evacuation route search algorithm to assist people's escape when a disaster occurs such as fires or terrorism in the building. The algorithm will guide the escape route at the fastest emergency exit of each region at the emergency state. The algorithm calculates the escape route by applying the weighting factor of age groups and population density around the emergency exit and of other regions. So the system helps escape to bypass the crowded emergency exit and the disaster area, and reduces the congestion of emergency exit and overloading of evacuation route.

  • In this study, the construction trend of skyscraper was summarized chirologically to examine the characteristics and current, and the issue in evacuation was examined through the case of fire breakout in skyscraper. Based on this, the type of evacuation using the emergency stairway during the fire breakout in skyscraper was decided on six types and empirical experiment was conducted for each type. The issues on the participants that participated in the emergency stairway evacuation experiment from the fire breakout in skyscraper and the difficulties in the evacuation were qualitatively evaluated to summarize each element of hindrance to summarize basic information on emergency stairway evacuation.

  • In Fukushima accident, when the severe accident such as a natural disaster happens, it is impossible to monitor the plant status due to a extreme environment and station blackout and most I&C systems break downs. Finally, these cause the loss of emergency cooling function and thus results in a hydrogen explosion and radiation leak. In this paper, the emergency response system is introduced that monitors and controls properly when the sever accidents like Fukushima accident happen, And the performance requirements of a wireless communication system used in the emergency respons system is described and the performance of emergency communication system is analyzed using the markov model.

  • With a purpose to set up an efficient national security system for both at war-time and peace-time, President Lee's government transferred the emergency management function from the Office of Prime Minister to Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS). As a result national emergency management system has been changed into diversified management system ; the function of comprehensive disaster control, emergency preparation to MOPAS, fire, civil defense and disaster management to NEMA and anti-terrorism to NIS, which produce another inefficiency. For this reason, this research presents desirable improvement alternatives through scrutinizing current governmental function and structure.

  • This study aims to provide useful information when making a decision for the environmental assessment of infrastructure, based on Life Cycle Assessment(LCA). It estimates environmental load on environmental pollutants that are possible to occur by locations and by types of emergency spillway for Korean multipurpose dam, which is selected as a study case. For this purpose, this study examines the theories of LCA and calculates environmental load on environmental pollutants that generate during life cycle, to apply the suggested infrastructure to the case study of emergency spillway at the multipurpose dam. It also evaluates environmental load of emergency spillway by the estimated result, and draws the optimum alternative that is environmental friendly.

  • When a fire breaks out in a high-rise building, the firefighters must swiftly arrive at fire area with his equipments ready and use the emergency elevator for a more effective operation. In spite of the legal regulations about the emergency elevator, the ones currently installed show various problems and require improvements related to the fire fighting. This research work in to review the regulations on emergency elevator in Korea and other nations, and to conduct a questionnaire survey on the operation of emergency elevators to the fire officer, and finally to provide new standard and operation methods.

  • In this study, an architectural acoustics simulation was conducted to examine the clear and uniform transmission of emergency broadcasting sound in a T junction corridor space. The sound absorption performance of the corridor space and the location and spacing of the loudspeaker for emergency broadcasting were varied. The distribution of the sound pressure level and the distribution of sound transmission indices (STI, RASTI) were compared. The simulation showed that the loudspeaker for emergency broadcasting should be installed approximately 10 m from the center of the T junction corridor connection for clear voice transmission. Narrowing the 25 m installation interval of the NFSC shows that an even clearer and sufficient volume of emergency broadcast sound can be delivered evenly.
