Simplified Nonlinear Dynamic Progressive Collapse Analysis of Welded Steel Moment Frames Using Collapse Spectrum (붕괴스펙트럼을 활용한 용접철골모멘트골조의 비선형 동적 연쇄붕괴 근사해석)

  • This paper presents the behavior of column-removed double-span beams in welded steel moment frames and proposes a simplified nonlinear dynamic analysis method for the preliminary evaluation of progressive collapse potential. The nonlinear finite element analysis and the associated analytical study showed that the column gravity load and the beam span-to-depth ratio govern the maximum dynamic deformation demand of the double-span beams. Based on these results, the concept of a collapse spectrum, which describes the relationship between the gravity load parameter and the maximum chord rotation of the double-span beams, was newly proposed. A procedure for the application of the collapse spectrum to multi-story welded steel moment frames was then suggested. The inelastic dynamic finite element analysis results showed that the proposed method gives satisfactory prediction of the nonlinear progressive collapse behavior of welded steel moment frames.

Seismic Design of Bridges in Moderate Seismic Region and Response Modification Factors (중진지역 교량 내진설계와 응답수정계수)

  • ‘Korean Highway Bridge Design Code’ provides the spectrum analysis method with response modification factors for the seismic design of typical bridges. However, considering that korean peninsula is classified as moderate seismic regions and domestic circumstances for bridge design and construction are different from other countries, the applicability of this code is not yet proved. Therefore it is required to verify that applying the spectrum analysis method fulfills the no collapse requirement which is set forth as the basic seismic design concept. In this study two typical bridges with T and ${\prod}$ type piers are selected as analysis bridges and seismic designs are carried out by applying the spectrum analysis method with design conditions given for moderate seismic regions. Based on the results obtained through deign procedures, the role of the response modification factors and fulfillment of the no collapse requirement are discussed, from which supplementary provisions for the design code are identified.

  • The dynamic instability for snapping phenomena has been studied by many researchers. There is few paper which deal with the dynamic buckling under the load with periodic characteristics, and the behavior under periodic excitation is expected the different behavior against step excitation. In this study, the dynamic direct snapping of shallow elliptic paraboloidal shells is investigated under not only step excitation but also sinusoidal and seismic excitations, applied in the up-and-down direction. The dynamic nonlinear responses are obtained by the numerical integration of the geometrically nonlinear equations of motion, and examined by the Fourier spectral analysis in order to get the frequency-dependent characteristics of the dynamic instability for various load levels. The results show that the dynamic instability phenomenon carried out from stable to unstable region reveals considerably different mechanism depending on the characteristics of excitations.

  • In this study, the earthquake damage evaluation of a R/C frame building is carried out based on the method proposed in Part I. Using the proposed method, the earthquake damage of building system based on non-linear required strength spectrum can be effectively evaluated without using the detailed seismic evaluation methods, including non-linear dynamic analyses, capacity spectrum method, etc.

Seismic Performance Evaluations of RC Bearing Wall Systems with Coupling Beams - For Apartment Buildings in 1990s (연결보가 있는 철근콘크리트 내력벽시스템의 내진성능평가 -1990년대 공동주택을 중심으로-)

  • To investigate the performance of apartment buildings which were built in the 1990s and which have RC bearing wall systems with coupling beams, construction drawings of 13 buildings were collected and analyzed. To evaluate the seismic performance, FEMA 356 and FEMA 440 were selected as guidelines. For the demand curve, the seismic design spectrum in KBC 2009 is used. For each building, the performance points for life safety and the collapse prevention state are calculated. It was found that 9 out of 13 buildings (about 70%) showed damage more severe than the collapse prevention level at the performance point and more damage could be seen at the coupling beams than the walls. However, the story drift limit of FEMA 356 was satisfied for all buildings. Through the analysis of performance points, it was shown that the spectral acceleration has an inverse relationship with the natural period.

DUPIC핵연료주기 핵연료의 방사선적 특성

  • DUPIC 핵연료주기에서 기준 핵연료로 설정된 사용후 경수로핵연료, 신 DUPIC 및 사용후 DUPIC핵연료의 핵종별 농도, 방사능, 붕괴열, 위해지수 및 방사선원항을 시간의 함수로 그 변화 특성을 분석하고, 각 인자별로 :-B게 영향을 미치는 주요 핵종의 거동을 물질농도 측면에서 추적하여 분석.평가 하였다. 방사성물질의 농도와 방사능 및 붕괴열 측면에서 모두 사용후 DUPIC핵 연료는 사용후 경수로핵연료에 111해 양적인 감소현상이 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 이는 DUPIC핵 연료주기의 경제적인 이득은 물론 환경 안전성 측면에서 크게 기여할 것임을 시사하고 있다. 한편 섭취 위해지수는 냉각기간에 따라 약간의 차이를 보이나 두 경우 비슷한 것으로 나타났으며, 방사선원 항의 세기에 있어서는 에너지 스펙트럼에 의존하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 향후 전체, DUPIC핵연료주기 평가에 있어서 기본 자료로 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • The spectrum of continuous transfer operator arising in a time-energy dependent neutron transport equation is analyzed. Four theorems concerning on the spectrum are proved. A convolution theorem of the generalized Mellin energy transform is given. Also the completeness theorem necessary for a final solution is proved. A unique time decay constant 1 - c is found, which is dominant asymptotically.

In-vivo Fluorescence Characteristics of Pteridine for Identification of Phytoplankton (Pteridine계 화합물의 in-vivo 형광 특성을 이용한 식물 플랑크톤의 동정에 관한 연구)

  • The steady state and decay characteristics of primary fluorescence of twelve clones of phytoplankton were investigated in vivo. At 380-435nm region, intense fluorescence emission spectra were obtained from the all phytoplankton, examined', The primary fluorescence of phytoplankton in different growth states was examined In order to find out fluorophores for the observed fluorescence, eight different pteridine derivatives in phosphate buffer solution were examined for their fluorescence characteristics and compared with those of phytoplankton. Fluorescence lifetimes $(\tau)$ and decay curves were compared with standard solution of candidate organic compounds. Decay kinetics of observed fluorescence were shown as hi- and tri-exponential decay curves with 430nm cut-off filter for phytoplankton. Comparison between fluorescence characteristics of bacteria and phytoplankton showed distinct differences for their steady state fluorecence spectra and decay kinetics.

Serviceability Limit State and Response Modification Factors (기능수행수준과 응답수정계수)

  • While the Earthquake Resistant Design Part of Korean Roadway Bridge Design Code provides design procedures for the No Collapse Requirement, requirements for the Serviceability Limit State are not clearly provided. The basic design method to meet the No Collapse Requirement is the spectrum analysis method using response modification factors and the Serviceability Limit State is determined by both the importance factor and the response modification factor applied in the design procedure. The importance factor can be simply applied according to the bridge importance category, however, in moderate/low seismic regions the application of the response modification factor may bring different result according to design conditions. In this study, for a typical bridge in the moderate/low seismic regions, determination procedures for the Serviceability Limit State are reviewed by carrying out earthquake resistant design and supplementary provisions for the Earthquake Resistant Design Part are identified based on the study results.

A Comparative Study of Branching Ratio of 167Yb Radioactive Isotope from Gamma-ray Spectrum Produced by 169Tm(p,3n)167Yb Reaction with 100-MeV Proton Beam (100-MeV 양성자 빔을 이용하여 169Tm(p,3n)167Yb 반응에 의해 생성된 167Yb 방사성동위원소에서 방출되는 감마선 스펙트럼 비교 연구)

  • The measurement of branching ratio of 167Yb radioactive isotopes from gamma-ray spectrum of 169Tm(p,3n)167Yb reaction were performed by using a 100-MeV proton linear accelerator of the Korea Multi-purpose Accelerator Complex (KOMAC). The 167Yb isotope has a half-life of 17.5 minutes and decays to 169Tm. The gamma rays generated from the 167Yb isotope were measured using an HPGe detector gamma ray spectroscopy system. The energy calibration of the detector and the efficiency measurement of the detector were determined using a standard source. The gamma rays of known main energy (62.9, 106.2, 113.3, 143.5 and 176.3 keV) were measured. On the other hand, information about the intensity of the generated gamma rays is very inaccurate. Therefore, in this study, the decay strength of the main gamma rays was accurately measured. Overall, it was different from the previously known results, and in particular, it was found that the intensity of the main decay gamma ray, such as the 113.3 and 106.2 keV gamma ray, was overestimated, and it was found that the gamma ray, such as 62.9, 116.7 and 143.5 keV was underestimated. The present results are considered to be important information in the fields of nuclear fusion, astrophysics and nuclear physics in the future.
