A Study of the Application of Inert Gas Generator to the Fire Extinguishing System (불활성 가스 발생장치(Inert Gas Generator) 소화시스템 적용에 관한 연구)

  • A study of the utilization of inert gas generator(IGG) that generates a large amount of inert gas for the fire extinguishing equipment was performed. In this study, the fire extinction performance of gas generated from a 1GG which is implemented to a gas turbine was investigated. A simulated mixture gas of which composition is the same as that of the gas generated from ICG was used in all experiments. First, the extinction concentration was measured using a cup burner method. The extinction design concentration and the volume of extinction space was calculated by applying the obtained extinction concentration to a method recommended by NFPA 2001. In practical respects, the fire extinction performance of IGG-generated gas was confirmed through the fire suppression experiment within a $2m\times2m\times2m$ room.

High Density Planar Inductively Coupled Plasma Etching of GaAs in BCl$_3$-based Chemistries (BCl$_3$ 기반 가스를 이용한 GaAs의 고밀도 평판형 유도결합 플라즈마 식각)

  • 평판형 유도결합 플라즈마 식각장비(inductively coupled plasma etcher)를 이용하여 각종 공정조건들에 따른 GaAs의 식각특성을 연구하였다. 공정변수들은 ICP 소스파워(0-500 W), RIE 척파워(0-150 W), 가스 종류($BCl_3$, $BCl_3$/Ar, $BCl_3$/Ne) 및 가스혼합비였다. $BCl_3$ 가스만을 이용하여 GaAs를 식각한 경우보다 25%의 Ar이나 Ne같은 불활성 기체를 혼합한 $15BCl_3$/5Ar, $15BCl_3$/5Ne 가스를 이용한 경우의 식각률이 더 우수한 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 50% 이하의 Ar이 혼합된 $BCl_3$/Ar의 경우는 높은 식각률 (>4,000 $\AA$/min)과 평탄한 표면(RMS roughness : <2 nm)을 얻을 수 있었지만 지나친 양(>50%)의 Ar의 혼합은 오히려 표면을 거칠게 하거나 식각률을 떨어뜨리는 결과를 가져왔다. 그리고 20 sccm $BCl_3$, 100 W RIE 척파워, 300 W ICP 소스파워, 공정압력이 7.5 mTorr인 조건에서의 GaAs의 식각결과는 아주 우수한 특성(식각률: ∼ 4,000, $\AA$/min, 우수한 수직측벽도: >$87^{\circ}$, 평탄한 표면: RMS roughness : ∼0.6 nm)을 나타내었다.

  • Military helicopters are equipped with OBIGGS System to prevent an explosion caused by the projectile. OBIGGS warning lights up should only operate when sensing fault, but it frequently worked without malfunction in the initial production process and the design improvements were required. In this paper, the cause of OBIGGS abnormal warning lights up was reviewed, the improvements were established and proven.

  • 코스트 저감과 연비 향상을 위한 부품 중 반복 하중과 내열성 부품의 적용이 증대하고 있다. 기존의 자동차 부품에서는 펄라이트가 석출되기 때문에 고탄소 철계 부품에 팩크로마이징 공정을 이용한 크롬탄화물을 형성하면서 탄화수소계 가스를 투입하므로서 기존의 불활성 분위기를 깨고 비평형상태로 분위기를 유지함으로 높은 경도의 $(Cr,Fe)_{23}C_6$$(Cr,Fe)_7C_3$ 복합 탄화물의 형성과 이에 의한 마찰계수 변화를 관찰하였다.

  • The welds tent to be weakened if it is exposed to the air during the welding process. In titanium welding with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, inappropriate colors of the welds, such as purple/red, blue, yellow, gray, white and pink represents that it is contaminated by oxygen and nitrogen in the air. Shielding gases can be used to protect welds from the contamination. In addition, Weld metal and heat affected zone (HAZ) are also shielded from the air when it is cooled down to the room temperature. In this paper, appropriate shielding gases for the shape and form of Trailing Shielding Jig and torch shielding ($13{\sim}20{\ell}/min$), after shielding ($22{\sim}30{\ell}/min$), and back shielding ($25{\sim}30{\ell}/min$) are studied.

  • High-performance of an electric double layer capacitance (EDLC) electrode was prepared by the amino-fluorination of activated carbon by using $NF_3$ gas. The pore structure and surface chemistry were investigated based on the specific capacitance of EDLC. The amino-fluorination of activated carbon introduced functional groups of nitrogen and fluorine which are beneficial for the specific capacitance of EDLC without the change of pore structures. The E-NF100AC electrode, which has nitrogen and fluorine functional groups less than 1 at%, showed the highly improved specific capacitance of 528 (${\pm}9$) F/g at 2 mV/s showing 122% improved value when comparing with that of non-functionalized E-RAC electrodes. Whereas, the E-NF200AC electrode, which has nitrogen and fluorine functional groups over 1 at%, showed the decreased specific capacitance because of perfluorinated introduction. So, it is concluded that the proper contents of nitrogen and fluorine groups improved the specific capacitance of EDLC.

Study of Surfactant Enhanced Remediation Methods for Organic Pollutant(NAPL) Distributed over the Heterogeneous Medium (계면활성제를 이용한 불균질 매질에서 유기오염물(NAPL)의 정화효율에 관한 실험)

  • Column and box tests were performed to investigate the removal efficiency of NAPL using the surfactant enhanced flushing In heterogeneous medium. Homogeneous Ottawa sand and heterogeneous soil were used to verify the increase of remediation efficiency for the surfactant enhanced flushing in column test. Box tests with two different heterogeneous sub-structure were performed to quantify the capability of the surfactant enhanced flushing as a remediation method to remove NAPL from the heterogeneous medium. Two different grain size sand layers were repeated in the box to simulate the heterogeneous layer formation and the modified fault structure was built to simulate the fault system in the box. O-xylene as a LNAPL and PCE as a DNAPL were used and oleamide as a non-ionic surfactant. The maximum NAPL effluent concentration with 1% oleamide flushing in the homogeneous column test increased about 460 times compared to that with only water flushing and about 250 times increased in the real soil column test. In heterogeneous medium, the maximum effluent concentration increased about 150 times in 1% oleamide flushing and most of NAPL were removed from the box within 8 pore volume flushing, suggesting that the removal efficiency increased very much compared to in only water flushing. Results investigated the capability of the surfactant enhanced remediation method to remove NAPL even in heterogeneous medium.

Effects of Hydrogen Gas on the Optical Properties of Diamondlike Carbon Thin Films Prepared by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (플라즈마 화학증법에 의해 형성된 Diamondlike Carbon 박막의 광학적 특성에 미치는 수소가스의 영향)

  • Diamondlike carbon thin film have been fabricated using methane as a reactive gas by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Effects of hydrogen gas on the optical properties of the thin film has been investigated. When the hydrogen was used as a secondary gas, the role of hydrogen changed with deposition power unlike inert gases such as Ar and He. From the changes of optical band gap and FT-IR analysis, it was predicted that the chemical etching, sputtering of C-H bond by hydrogen and the implantation of hydrogen into the thin film could occur. The validity of the possibilities was confirmed by examining the effect of secondary gases such as Ar and He.
