Experimental Study of Compressor Surge for 250-hp Class Vehicular Turbocharger (250마력 급 차량용 터보차저 서지현상에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • A surge phenomenon cause noise and pulsations in a turbo compressor, which is an unstable operating regime. Because surge protection ensures a safe compressor operation, it is important to understand the physics of the surge phenomenon. In this study, the surge characteristics of a 250-hp class turbo-compressor were evaluated experimentally. The experimental parameters were the rotational speed, opening angles of the inlet guide vane and exit valve, and inlet pipe diameter and flow rates of the inlet gases. The results showed that the compressor surge was very sensitive to the gas flow rates, exit pressure, rotational speed, and bypass flow rates.

The Study on Single Injection Locking Phenomenon for Multi-Frequency Generator Design (다중 주파수 발생기 설계를 위한 단일 인젝션 락킹 현상에 관한 연구)

  • This study describes injection locking phenomena for multi-frequency generator design. For the design of the multi-frequency generator, we describe the basic theory of injection locking phenomenon and conduct a single injection locking experiment based on it. The experiments was conducted by applying injection signals that vibrates consistently to oscillators which vibrates unstablely compared to injection signals. Injection signal was applied using a Howland current source and circuit was designed using a Colpitts oscillator. The results of the experiment showed that each oscillator oscillates reliable when injection signals(840kHz, 500kHz) are injected. Through the results of a single injection locking experiment, it is confirmed that injection locking phenomena can be applied in the design of the multi-frequency generator.

Characteristics of EGW Welding Consumables for EH47-TM Steels (선급 EH47-TM용 EGW 용접재료의 특성)

  • 최근 컨테이너 선박의 초대형화로 극후물 고장력 강재인 항복응력 460MPa급 고장력강인 EH47이 개발되었다. 두께 80mm의 극후물 용접에서 용접생산성 향상을 위하여 EGW/FCAW로 양면 용접이 검토되고, 입열량은 최대 300kJ/cm의 대입열 용접이 요구된다. 이를 위해서는 강재 및 용접재료 모두 300kJ/cm 용접부 성능이 선급 규격을 만족하여야 함은 물론 마지막 조립단계에서 적용되기 때문에 용접재료의 용접작업성도 매우 크게 요구되고 있다. 먼저 대입열 용접금속에서 요구되는 저온 충격인성($vE_{-20^{\circ}C}{\geq}57J$)을 만족하기 위하여는 용접금속의 미세조직 제어가 필요하며, 특히 조대한 입계페라이트 생성을 억제하고 미세한 입내 페라이트를 균일 분포하는 것이 중요하지만, 이를 위해 용접금속의 소입성이 지나치게 높이면 경화조직인 베이나이트 분율이 증가하여 오히려 용접금속 저온 충격인성을 저하시키므로, 적절한 용접금속의 성분 제어가 중요하다. 한편 용접부는 선급에서 요구하는 최소 강도인 570MPa를 만족하기 위하여 용접금속의 소성구속 현상을 활용하여 용접부 인장강도를 확보 할 수 있음을 확인했다. 이를 위해서는 용접금속의 적정한 경화도 확보가 필요하였다. 전술한 바와 같이 대입열 용접금속 저온 충격인성 확보와 용접부 강도 측면을 고려하여 용접금속 최적의 탄소당량 범위를 제시코자 하였다. 한편 용접재료의 용접작업성은 EGW용접의 용적이행 현상은 자유비행이행으로 이루어지고 있으며 특성상 용접중 용적과 용융지 사이에 많은 순간단락 현상을 동반하고 있으며, 슬래그 유동이 불안정하면 아크 꺼짐 현상도 관찰되고 있다. 따라서, 현장용접시 원할한 용접작업성을 확보할 수 있는 평가 기준으로써 아크 전류 및 전압의 변동 정도를 설정하고, 용접재료의 용접작업성 확보 기준을 제시코자 하였다.

  • In resin transfer molding(RTM), race-track effects and non-uniform fiber volume fraction may cause undesirable resin flow patterns and thus result in dry spots, which affect the mechanical properties of the finished parts. In this study, a real time RTM control strategy to reduce these unfavorable effects is proposed. This control rule is accomplished by means of the permeability mapping and pressure regulation. Through numerical simulations, the validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated.

  • 그라우팅은 건설공사에서 지반의 갈라진 틈이나 공동, 공극 등에 적절한 충전재를 압력을 이용하여 주입하는 것으로, 굴착공사 시 누수방지와 불안정한 지반의 보강을 위하여 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 그라우팅 주입재의 재료로는 물유리계를 주재료로 사용하는 약액주입공법이 많이 사용되어지고 있다. 기존의 물유리계 재료를 사용할 경우 발생하는 용출현상 및 강도저하를 보완하기 위하여 가소성을 부과한 무기질계 재료ECG(Eco Clean Grouting)를 사용하여, 강도 및 내구성이 우수하고 주입재의 용출 현상이 발생하지 않아 환경오염 문제가 거의 없는 영구적인 차수 및 보강에 적합한지와 친환경적 특성을 확인한다. 본 연구는 가소성 무기질계 재료인 ECG(Eco Clean Grouting)재료를 사용하여 현재 많이 사용되는 재료인 물유리계 재료로 일축압축강도, 체적변화, 내구성 평가, 투수시험, 어독성 시험, 용탈시험등을 수행하여 비교 분석 하였다. 일축압축 시험결과 재령 28일 강도는 ECG가 물유리재료에 비해 크게 발현되었고, 내화학성시험 결과 ECG의 길이변화율이 거의 없는 것으로 내화학성에서 강점을 보였다.

  • Irregular motions of nonlinear dynamic system are the result of an intrinsic characteristics that the system have, and sometimes occur unpredictable large motion. For a ship in a regular seaway, the capsizing occur because of this unexpectable motion. So, from the safety's point of view, nonlinear ship motions should be treated carefully. In this study, stable and unstable regions are investigated firstly under the variation of a control external force. Secondly, we consider the attractors to know how ship motions of the stable region that does not undergo capsizing change. Thirdly, bifurcation diagram is considered to study the range in detail where nonlinear chaotic motions are occurred.

  • The orifice in the propellent feeding pipe line of a Liquid Rocket Engine(LRE) is used to balance the pressure of the pipe line. When a LRE starts up, pressure at the upstream of the orifice rapidly increases. In this case, pressure waves occuring by resistance of the orifice may induce low frequency instability in the pipe line. For this reason the study of dynamic characteristics of orifices is needed to prevent the instability. A pump is used to build up the pressure, and the pressure is measured upstream and downstream of the orifice when the orifice diameter is changed. With the increase of orifice diameter, water hammer decreases, but the effect of resistance downstream is increases.

Analysis of Laminar Flows around Submerged Spheres (물 밑에 잠긴 구 주위의 층류 유동장 해석)

  • Three dimensional laminar flows are numerically simulated around the submerged spheres. The finite volume based Navier-Stokes equations with unstructured grids are solved to make clear the hydrodynamic phenomena near and far away from the body. Reviews are made on with the vorticity, velocity, dynamic pressure, residuals, drags, etc. The Reynolds numbers under consideration are 425, 300, 250 and 100. In case of small spacing between spheres, the flow is more stable than that past a single sphere. According to the analysis, the flow past two spheres is found to be unstable as the spacing becomes larger. The rear sphere shows the deduction of stagnation pressure, which results in the decrease of the resistance. The predicted drag coefficients verify that the present numerical calculation is reasonable.

  • A fatigue life prediction program for multiple planar surface cracks in finite plates and T-fillet joints, based on linear elastic fracture mechanics was developed. This prediction technique include the crack coalescence, mutual interation and the stress intensity concentration effect in welded joints. Total of 44 cases were compared with lida's and Vosikovsky's experimental results and it was found that the present method was a reasonable tool for the predictioin of fatigue life.

  • Acoustic behavior in combustion chamber with acoustic cavity is numerically investigated by adopting linear acoustic analysis. Helmholtz-type resonator is employed as a cavity model to suppress acoustic instability. The tuning frequency of acoustic cavity is adjusted by varying the sound speed in acoustic cavity. Acoustic pressure responses of chamber to acoustic oscillating excitation are shown md acoustic damping effect of acoustic cavity is quantified by damping factor. As the tuning frequency approaches the target frequency of the resonant mode, mode split from the original resonant mode to lower and upper modes appears and thereby damping effect is degraded. Considering mode split and damping effect as a function of tuning frequency, it is desirable to make acoustic cavity tuned to maximum frequency of those of the possible splitted upper modes.
