  • Considering dredged ground is consolidated more than one meter, Compression index prediction is very important. But, UD-sampling and consolidation test are impossible because of high moisture content and weak shear strength. This paper demonstrates the compression index relation, $C_{c(d)}=F(e_d,C_c)$, between in-situ and dredged clay using N. Keith Tovey's Omega point and soil physical properties. Good relationship is confirmed between proposed formula and measured primary consolidation result on dredged ground in The Republic of Korea.

  • The coefficient of permeability for a soil can be determined by the direct or the indirect method. The direct method of permeability can be performed either in the laboratory or in the field. The indirect method can be predicted from the soil-water characteristic curve. In this study, the coefficient of permeability for an unsaturated soil was determined by the modified apparatus of steady-state method (Klute, 1972) and was predicted from the equations of Brooks & Corey (1964) and van Genuchten (1980). The experimental results were compared with predicted coefficient of permeability and the applicability of the two equations (from Brooks & Corey, van Genuchten) was reviewed.

  • Pusan clay, which is distributed in the Nakdong River estuary, is unusually soft and thick compared with other clays in the world. Because the consolidation settlement of the clay was significantly underestimated in several recent reclamation projects, it has been emphasized particularly on the need of studying the permeability characteristics. This study carries out vertical and horizontal permeability tests on undisturbed and consolidated samples from two sites of the area. The results of the study show the peculiar permeability anisotropy and the relationships with other indexes on Pusan clay and also comparison with those of other world clays.

  • In the case of the Pohang earthquake, which had a magnitude of 5.4 in 2017, geotechnical damages such as liquefaction and ground settlement occurred. The need for countermeasures has emerged, and experimental research in the Pohang area has continued. This study collected undisturbed samples from damaged fine-grained soil areas where ground settlement occurred in Pohang. Cyclic tri-axial tests for identifying the dynamic characteristics of soils were performed on the undisturbed samples, and the results were analyzed to determine the cause of ground settlement. As a result of the study, it was determined that in the case of fine-grained soils, ground settlement occurred because the seismic load as an external force was relatively more significant than the shear resistance of the very soft fine-grained soils, rather than due to an increase in excess pore water pressure.

  • This paper presents the scientific basis for the significance and physiological activity of gongyang as tributes, focusing on the four summer fruits, i.e., grapes, watermelons, oriental melons, and dragon fruits, which were used as one of the yukbeopgongyang in Yeongsanjae's thorough literature review (yeongsanjae and 2010.3~2020.2 published fruit research). As a result of the study, the fruit is not obtained from fruit trees, but from enlightenment. Chemically, the fruit had a high content of antioxidants, such as polyphenol and flavonoid. The fruit had excellent DPPH and ABTS+ radical scavenging activities and reducing power. The skin of the fruits, the non-edible part, had higher physiological activity than the flesh, the edible part. Therefore, further studies on the physiological activity in each part of dragon fruit and regarding how to ingest and utilize the peel of the four fruits need to be conducted.

  • This study was performed with an aim to examine the inner thoughts of Muso Soseki through his works. In this study, we reviewed currently existing Mus$\bar{o}$ Soseki. Works in which his idea or intention behind his works are to be understood in terms of landscaping science or religious perspective. Targeting his best representative works of temple gardens such as Jochou-ji, Eiho-ji, Zuisen-ji, Tenryu-ji, it was sought his view of gardening and technique of garden making. Those temples, selected as target of this study, have significance as a places to have started his learning till matured of his thought into his gardening works. What we need to concentrate and think about regarding the works of Muso is the fact that we are to be impressed upon just looking at his works. The study result indicates that Muso not only symbolized his various mastered ideas & philosophies into spatial configuration into the garden based on Zen Buddhism idea, but also accomplished the Sabi-gardening beauty. Through his writing "Mongjoongmundap(夢中問答)" that is created using his core thoughts, his works can be understood better. This study has significance in that the idea. It could be understood that Muso's work is rooted in the basic idea of three ideas. The first of it is Zen philosophy being indicated in his configuration of gardening such as Zen meditation Stone, cave, chamdo etc. The second of it is shown as the merciful heart of Sangguboje(上求普提), Hahwajoongsaeng(下化衆生), being indicated in his configuration of gardening such as the pond And finally, there appears the Tao idea. Taoist thought has become of where the background space.

  • This contribution studied constructional intentions, ideas, thought and aesthetic consciousness of Joseon Royal Tombs regarding its location, spatial organization and elements. A literature investigation and a field study have been carried out, and the royal tombs of the Goryeo Dynasty and the Shilla Dynasty also have been studied to look for the its origins. The outcomes are as follows. The tomb's system of Joseon Royal Tombs inherited the King Gongmin's Tomb of the Goryeo Dynasty of Buddhism, but they have their own characteristics in a spatial organization and elements involved in Confucianism, Taoism, not only Buddhism. In the aspect of location, Joseon Royal Tombs followed the Feng-shu geometric principle to find a land that have a mountain in the back, and a river in the front. Spatial plan was carried out with Confucianism to apply the order of rank. Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism are shown with the elements such as architecture, landscape architecture, stone objects, and historical forest being connected each other. Especially, constructional intentions, ideas, thought and aesthetic consciousness are connected with the people in Joseon Royal Tombs through the ritual ceremony of Confucianism.

  • This study was conducted to examine the mediating effects of social anxiety and academic self-efficacy in the relationship between adolescent covert narcissism and school life adaptation. The subjects were 423 middle school and high school students. The results of this study are as follows: First, covert narcissistic personality tendency had a negative correlation with school life adaptation(r=-.51, p<.01). Covert narcissism had significant positive correlation with social anxiety(r=.70, p<.01) but had negative correlation with academic self-efficacy(r=-.39, p<.01). Social anxiety showed a significant negative correlation with school life adaptation(r=-.50, p<.01), academic self-efficacy had a positive correlation with school life adaptation(r=.63, p<.01), and social anxiety had a negative correlation with academic self-efficacy(r=-.51, p<.01). Second, as a result of verifying the mediating effects of social anxiety and academic self-efficacy, academic self-efficacy has mediating effects on the relationship between covert narcissism and school life adaptation(${\beta}=.41$, p<.001), and social anxiety has no mediating effect on school life adaptation(${\beta}=-.05$, p<.001). The results of this study suggest that If adolescents with covert narcissism have difficulties in adapting to school life, increasing academic self-efficacy, especially self-control efficacy and self-confidence, may be helpful to improve adolescents' adaptation to school life.

  • When carrying out design for soft ground improvement before reclamation of dredged soil, it is very important to appropriately evaluate design parameters such as compression index and undrained strength in order to estimate optimum construction cost. In this study, consolidation and strength parameters were estimated by the samples obtained from the similar reclaimed land. Water content and compression index of dredged soil reclaimed by hydraulic fill method were quite decreased in comparison with those of in-situ conditions at Incheon site. Relationships between compression index(Cc) and water content (wn), and between undrained strength (su) and water content (wn) for dredged soil were obtained by field vane test and oedometer test, respectively. Applicability of Schmertmann correction method (compression index) for low plasticity silty soil was discussed according to comparison with designed and measured settlements.

  • For a massive project related to building national industrial complexes on a soft ground applied to PVD after dredging and hydraulic fill, laboratory tests were carried out using undisturbed sample taken from various depth. Piezocone penetration and dissipation tests were carried out to assess horizontal coefficient of consolidation and initial stress in field. The ground consists of upper dredged fill and lower original clay layer having both similar marine clays. It should be, however, considered as multi-layered soft ground having different initial void ratio, initial water content, initial effective stress, and permeability and compressibility with directions. To assess initial stress of those soft layers in which have different stress history related to consolidation, CPTu test results, especially excess pore water pressure, were analyzed. It allows to find out distribution of excess pore water pressure and initial stress inner original clay layer.
