Effective MCTF based on Correlation Improvement of Motion Vector Field (움직임 벡터 필드의 상관도 향상을 통한 효과적인 MCTF 방법)

  • This paper presents an effective motion estimation to improve the performance of the motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) which is a core part of the wavelet-based scalable video coding. The proposed scheme makes the motion vector field uniform by the modified median operation and the search strategies using adjacent motion vectors, in order to enhance the pixel connectivity which is significantly relevant to the performance of the MCTF. Moreover, the motion estimation with variable block sizes that reflects the features of frames is introduced for further correlation improvement of the motion vector field. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed method reduces the decomposed energy on the temporal high frequency subband frame up to 30.33% in terms of variance compared to the case of the full search with fixed block sizes.

  • study of the solid phase extraction (SPE) technique using activated carbon fiber (ACF) as a sorbent was carried out on the schedule chemicals in water. 14 different schedule chemicals, which are the hydrolysis products and simulants of chemical agents such as alkylphosphonate, thiodiglycol etc. were selected for the study. Pyridine was used as a promoter to increase the derivatization efficiency, especially to improve silylation of 3-quinuclidinol. To improve the recovery efficiency of amines in the water solution, 1 mL of 5% Et3N/MeOH was introduced into SPE-ACF before the water sample loading. Throughout this study, the optimum condition was established to detect rapidly above chemicals in water.

  • Efficient implementation of pre-filtering has been an important issue in video sequence coding, because it can remove camera noise and improve coding efficiency dramatically This paper introduces a novel pre-filtering scheme that is performed inside a video encoder The proposed pre-filtering is based on the approximated generalized Wiener filtering and two-dimensional discrete cosine transform (DCT) factorization. and is achieved by scaling the DCT coefficients of original image blocks for intra block coding and those of motion-compensated error blocks for inter block coding, respectively Even though the pre-filtering operation is embedded in a video encoder, its additional computational complexity is marginal compared to the encoding process, and the overall architecture of the conventional video encoder is maintained In spite of its simplicity, the proposed pre-filtering scheme provides good filtering and coding performance for noisy video sequences.

Recognition of Numeric Characters in License Plates using Eigennumber (고유 숫자를 이용한 번호판 숫자 인식)

  • In order to recognize a vehicle license plate, the region of the license plate should be extracted from a vehicle image. Then, character region should be separated from the background image and characters are recognized using some neural networks with selected feature vectors. Of course, choice of feature vectors which serve as the basis of the character recognition has an important effect on recognition result as well as reduction of data amount. In this paper, we propose a novel feature extraction method in which number images are decomposed into linear combination of eigennumbers and show the validity of this method by applying to the recognition of numeric characters in license plates. The experimental results show the recognition rate of 95.3% for about 500 vehicle images with multi-layer perceptron neural network in the eigennumber space. Compared with the conventional mesh feature, it shows a better recognition rate by 5%.

플라즈마 임피던스를 이용한 RPS내 아노다이징 코팅진단 및 수명예측에 대한 연구

  • 교류임피던스 측정기법을 이용하여 전기화학적으로 외부환경에서 소재 금속까지 물질 및 전하이동에 관한 임피던스 측정이 가능하며 도막의 부식 및 노화정도 및 내식성의 평가가 가능하여 산업체에서 널리 이용되고 있다. RPCS(Remote Plasma Cleaning Source)는 패널 및 반도체 제조공정에서 CVD 증착공정 후 챔버 내부에 입혀지는 Si(실리콘)을 화학적으로 세정하기 위한 F(불소) Radical을 공급하는 원격 고밀도 플라즈마를 발생시키는 제품이다. RPCS의 바디는 알루미늄을 사용하고 절연 및 플라즈마에 대한 내구성을 확보하기 위해 아노다이징 코팅을 한다. 반응기 내벽의 표면이 공정 플라즈마에 노출될 때 소재는 화학적으로 매우 활성이 높은 라디칼과의 반응뿐만 아니라 이온의 충격을 동시에 받게 되며 이 과정에서 다량의 불소 (Fluorine) 라디칼과 전계에 반응한 이온의 운동에 노출되면서 아노다이징 코팅이 손상되는데 이는 기기의 수명 단축 및 파티클을 발생시키며, Arc의 원인이 되기도 한다. 실제 사용 환경에서는 기기의 분해 없이 아노다이징의 상태를 주기적으로 모니터링 하기가 대단히 어려워, 정기적으로 교체하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 RPCS내 발생된 플라즈마 현상을 컨덕터로 활용하여 고주파 리액턴스를 임피던스로 환산하여 아노다이징 코팅의 손상 정도를 진단 및 모니터링하였다. 아노다이징이 손상된 내부 블럭과 정상상태인 내부 블럭의 임피던스를 비교하였고, 아노다이징 두께별 임피던스를 측정하였다. 그 결과 아노다이징 절연막이 손상된 블록의 임피던스가 정상 블록에 비해 낮았으며 두께별 임피던스도 비례함을 알 수 있었다. 향후에는 장기간 현장에서 축척되어진 시험데이터를 바탕으로 아노다이징 코팅의 수명예측진단 시스템을 구축하고자 한다.

  • In this proposed study, a new emerging shape forming technique Direct Coagulation Casting(DCC) which enables to fabricate complex-shaped ceramic parts has been investigated using colloid surface chemistry. Various process variables affected by dispersant, coagulation agent and sintering additives, have been evaluated in order to achieve highly concentrated stabilized silicon nitride suspensions. A high solid loading of 51 vol% in the dispersed silicon nitride suspension was prepared with 1.0wt% Tetraethylammonium Hydroxide (TEAH), which obtained a stable silicon nitride suspension with sintering additives $(Al_2O_3\;and\;Y_2O_3)$ in alkaline regions. The addition of hydroxyaluminium diacetate into the suspension, which decomposed at elevated temperatures, led to coagulate of a silicon nitride suspension. In a basic medium, aluminum ions precipitated to aluminum hydroxide $(Al(OH)_3)$, leading to decreased $OH^-$ concentration and, thus, coagulated suspension.

A Study of Line-shaped Echo Detection Method using Naive Bayesian Classifier (나이브 베이지안 분류기를 이용한 선에코 탐지 방법에 대한 연구)

  • There are many types of advanced devices for weather prediction process such as weather radar, satellite, radiosonde, and other weather observation devices. Among them, the weather radar is an essential device for weather forecasting because the radar has many advantages like wide observation area, high spatial and time resolution, and so on. In order to analyze the weather radar observation result, we should know the inside structure and data. Some non-precipitation echoes exist inside of the observed radar data. And these echoes affect decreased accuracy of weather forecasting. Therefore, this paper suggests a method that could remove line-shaped non-precipitation echo from raw radar data. The line-shaped echoes are distinguished from the raw radar data and extracted their own features. These extracted data pairs are used as learning data for naive bayesian classifier. After the learning process, the constructed naive bayesian classifier is applied to real case that includes not only line-shaped echo but also other precipitation echoes. From the experiments, we confirm that the conclusion that suggested naive bayesian classifier could distinguish line-shaped echo effectively.

  • The sensitivity of ISFET glucose sensor is improved by employing amperometric actuation method. However, this method takes long time to recover the primary output voltage after measurement because of slow migration of the hydrogen ion between internal and external sensing membranes. Consequently, such a recovery-time delaying problem is one of obstacles to a practical use. In this paper, a new method is proposed to control the concentration of hydrogen ion in internal membrane, which applies a reduction potential to the working electrode for supplying hydroxide ion. Experimental results show that the recovery-time was reduced within 2 minute against decades minute of conventional method.

  • Reactive medium including zero-valent metals such as zero-valent iron ($Fe^0$) degrades chlorinated solvents as a contaminant plume flows through the treatment medium. Although the Feo based reactive barrier has been demonstnlted to be a cost effective for trichloroethenc (TCE)-contaminaled plume remediation, current approach is limited by low process eftlciency and uncertain, effective life of the medium. The objective of this study is to develop an enhanced treatment method of TeE-contaminated groundwater using Feo and direct current. The bench-scale test using flow-through $Fe^0$ reactor column confirmed that the application of direct current with $Fe^0$ is highly effective in enhancing the rate of TeE dechlorination. The dechlorination mechanism appears to be reductive, with the electrons supplied by the iron oxidation and external power supply serving as the additional source of electrons.

Identification of Spilled Oils in the Marine Environment by Fluorescence Fingerprints and Library Search System (해양유출유의 형광지문에 의한 식별연구)

  • Multi-spectral analyses of excitation and emission fluorescence was applied to spilled crude oils in characterization of their specific fluorescence patterns which is called oil fingerprints. In the present study, oil fingerprints of 33 crude, 4 fuel and 2 other oils were analyzed to establish data base library search system. Cluster analysis showed that crude oils could be classified into two large groups according to their fluorescence characteristics. In simulated experiments, all the spilled sources was identifiable by the present library search system. In the natural environment this system could identify the exact source of weathered crude oil slicks upton 10 days. The present study shows that the fluorescence fingerprinting method with the library search system is reliable and superior to toutine GC/HPLC analyses in identification of the source of weathered spilled oils in the marine environment.
