Meshes are the most appropriate data structures for representing 3D geometries. Surface meshes have been frequently used for representing 3D geometries, which only samples data on the surfaces of the given 3D geometries. Thanks to the improvements of computing powers, it is required to develop more complicated contents which utilize the volumetric information of 3D geometries. In this paper, we introduce a novel volumetric mesh libraries based on the half-face data structure, called OpenVolMesh, and describe its designs and implementations. The OpenVolMesh extends the OpenMesh, which is one of the most famous mesh libraries, by supporting volumetric meshes. The OpenVolMesh provides the generic programming, dynamic allocations of primitive properties, efficient array-based data structures, and source-level compatibility with OpenMesh. We show the usefulness of the OpenVolMesh in the developments of 3D volumetric contents with prototypic implementations such as volumetric mesh smoothing and CW-cell decompositions.

The objective of this experiment was to evaluate chemical composition, dry matter(DM) digestibility, DM intake, relative feed value(RFV) and hay grade of imported roughage which was collected by wholesale dealer at Chungnam province in 1999. Experimental roughages includes 8 kinds of imported hays(com stover bale, tall fescue straw, green cell, bermudagrass straw, reed carnarygrass straw, alfalfa bale, sugarcane bale and oat hay) and mixture hay(control) which was harvested at Chungnam National University experimental field. Compared with mixture hay(control) except for alfalfa bale, crude protein of most imported roughage was low, but NDF, ADF, cellulose and lignin compound were high. Futhermore, DM digestibility, DM intake, RFV and hay grade of imported roughage except for alfalfa bale was significantly lower than those of mixture hay(control)(P<0.05). Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the economic value in the aspect of quality for the imported roughages.

This paper presents a decision method of middle ear disease which is developed in children and adults. In the proposed method, features are extracted from the middle ear disease images and normal images using HoG (histogram of oriented gradient) descriptor and the extracted features are learned by SVM (support vector machine) classifier. To obtain an input vector into SVM, an input image is resized to a predefined size and then the resized image is partitioned into 16 blocks each of which is partitioned into 4 sub-blocks (namely cell). Finally, the feature vector with 576 components is given by using HoG with 9 bins and it is used as SVM learning and classification. Input images are classified by SVM classifier based on the model of learning features. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields the precision of over 90% in decision.
Fenton reaction is widely used as a out of cell method for evaluating the membrane electrochemical durability of Proton Exchange Fuel Cell (PEMFC). In this study, we investigated the factors affecting the Fenton reaction. In order to estimate the degree of the reaction, it is necessary to analyze the radicals as a product in the Fenton reaction. However, since the radicals are difficult to analyze, the degree of the reaction was measured by analyzing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide. The activation energy was calculated from the rate of hydrogen peroxide change with temperature. The activation energy was 24.9 kJ/mol at 180 min. The Fenton reaction rate was affected by the iron ion concentration. At $80^{\circ}C$, 200 rpm, and $Fe^{2+}$ 80 ppm, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide was decreased more than 20% even for 1 hour, which shows that frequent solution replacement increases the membrane degradation rate.

In this paper, the linearity of Doherty power amplifier has been improved by applying a new Photonic Bandgap(PBG) structure on the output of amplifier. The reposed spiral PBG structure is a two-dimensional(2-D) periodic lattice patterned on a dielectric slab that does not require nonplanar fabrication process. This structure has more broad stopband and high suppression performance than the conventional three cell PBG. Also, It has a sharp skirt property. We obtained the 3rd-order intermodulation distortion(IMD3) of -33dBc for CDMA applications with that of maintaining the constant power added efficiency(PAE), the IMD3 performance is improved as much as -8 dB compared with a Doherty power amplifier without PBG structure. Moreover, the physical length of PBG is shortened, therefore the whole amplifier circuit size is considerably reduced.

A SOx sensor using NASICON electrolyte was developed for monitoring of air pollution. The following galvanic cell with $Na_{2}SiO_{3}(Pt)$ reference electrode was assembled : Pt | $Na_{2}SiO_{3}$ | NASICON | $Na_{2}SO_{4}$ | Pt, $SO_{2}$, air $Na_{2}SO_{4}$ was used as an indicator electrode to protect NASICON electrolytes from chemical reaction with $SO_{2}$. The EMFs were measured after injecting $SO_{2}$ in the initial concentrations range of $5{\sim}95ppm$ at $400{\sim}550^{\circ}C$. The measured and calculated potentials were in good agreement above $500^{\circ}C$. However, the cells were unstable below $500^{\circ}C$, most likely due to incomplete attainment of chemical equilibrium. Response time was within 10 min. Based on the stability and response time of this cell, the NASICON solid electrolyte with $Na_{2}SiO_{3}(Pt)$ as the reference electrode and $Na_{2}SO_{4}$ (Pt)as the indicator electrode showed the possibility of a reliable, inexpensive commercial solid-state SOx sensor.

In this paper, we propose an efficient symbol detection algorithm for multiple-input multiple-output spatial multiplexing (MIMO-SM) systems and present its design and implementation results. By enhancing the performance of the first detected symbol which causes error propagation, the proposed algorithm achieves a considerable performance gain as compared to the conventional sorted QR decomposition (SQRD) based detection and the ordered successive detection (OSD) algorithms. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed detection algorithm is evaluated by the simulation. In case of 16QAM MIMO-SM system with 4 transmit and 4 receive ($4{\times}4$) antennas, at $BER=10^{-3}$ the proposed algorithm obtains the gai improvement of about 2.5-13.5 dB over the conventional algorithms. The proposed detection algorithm was designed in a hardware description language (HDL) and synthesized to gate-level circuits using 0.18um 1.8V CMOS standard cell library. The results show that the proposed algorithm can be implemented without increasing the hardware costs significantly.

In this study, we evaluated corrosion behavior of a common rolling stock axle material, RSA1, in seawater. 3-electrode electrochemical cell experiment was conducted using artificial sea water, fabricated according to ASTM-D1141 set by American Society for Testing and Materials, where the corrosion current density and corrosion rate were determined to be $18.3{\mu}A/cm2$ and 0.217 mm/yr, respectively, by employing potentiodynamic test method and impedance spectroscopy method. Considering the fact that life time of railway car is ~25 years, the expected corrosion layer depth is 5mm. Constant-current corrosion test was conducted to accelerate the corrosion process, to reach corrosion periods of 1,3 and 4 years based on Faraday's law, followed by tension tests where the reduced specimen gauge cross-section was re-measured for stress calculation. While no apparent corrosion-related changes in mechanical properties were observed in the elastic regime, the reduction in ductility of the material was found to be increased as the corrosion period increased. The results of this study are expected to be basic corrosion data for the design of rolling stock axles, which will be operated in the sea water environment.
This paper presents the design and simulation of a three-dimensional pixel-by-pixel scanning light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system with a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) scanning mirror and direct sequence optical code division multiple access (DS-OCDMA) techniques. It measures a frame with $848{\times}480$ pixels at a refresh rate of 60 fps. The emitted laser pulse waves of each pixel are coded with DS-OCDMA techniques. The coded laser pulse waves include the pixel's position in the frame, and a checksum. The LIDAR emits the coded laser pulse waves periodically, without idle listening time to receive returning light at the receiver. The MEMS scanning mirror is used to deflect and steer the coded laser pulse waves to a specific target point. When all the pixels in a frame have been processed, the travel time is used by the pixel-by-pixel scanning LIDAR to generate point cloud data as the measured result.
