In this paper, the aerodynamic performance prediction of a 30kW counter-rotating (C/R) wind turbine system has been made by using the momentum theory as well as the two-dimensional quasi-steady strip theory with special care on the wake and the post-stall effects. In order to take into account the wake effects in the performance analysis, the wind tunnel test data obtained for a scaled blade are used. Both the axial and rotational inductions behind the auxiliary rotors are determined through the wake model. In addition, the optimum chord and twist distributions along the blades are obtained from the Glauert's optimum actuator disk model considering the Prandtl's tip loss effect. The performance results of the counter-rotating wind turbine system are compared with those of the conventional single rotor system and demonstrated the effectiveness of the counter-rotating wind turbine system.

The ballistic performance data of composite materials is distributed due to material inhomogeneity. In this paper, the uncertainty in residual velocity is obtained experimentally, and a method of predicting it is established numerically for the high-speed impact of a bullet into laminated composites. First, the failure strain distribution was obtained by conducting a tensile test using 10 specimens. Next, a ballistic impact test was carried out for the impact of a fragment-simulating projectile (FSP) bullet with 4ply ([0/90]s) and 8ply ([0/90/0/90]s) glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) plates. Eighteen shots were made at the same impact velocity and the residual velocities were obtained. Finally, simulations were conducted to predict the residual velocities by using the failure strain distributions that were obtained from the tensile test. For this simulation, two impact velocities were chosen at 411.7m/s (4ply) and 592.5m/s (8ply). The simulation results show that the predicted residual velocities are in close agreement with test results. Additionally, the modeling of a composite plate with layered solid elements requires less calculation time than modeling with solid elements.
Water quality monitoring network data is being affected continuously due to non-point source pollution arising from agricultural land located on the Gwangsancheon outlet in the Nakdong River basin. In this study, we have performed analysis of water quality monitoring system, water quality pattern using SOM and water quality in the Gwangsancheon for sub-basin located at Gisan-myeon in the Nakdong River basin. We have developed and applied the model to estimate the runoff and non-point source loading. As a result of SOM pattern, the effect of non-point source pollution was the largest in the paddy fields and fields. As a result of the developed model, we found contribution rate and reduction rate for non-point source loading according to change of landuse because the reduction effect of nonpoint pollutants was 20.9% of SS, 9.9% of TN, 21.2% of TP and 8.9% of TOC depending on the landuse change.
A distributed watershed model CAMEL (Chemicals, Agricultural Management and Erosion Losses) was applied to a small rural watershed where intensive livestock farming sites are located to estimate nitrate leaching rates from soil to groundwater. The model was calibrated against the stream flows, and T-N and $NO_3-N$ concentrations were observed at the watershed outlet for three rainfall events in 2014. The simulation results showed good agreement with the observed stream flows ($R^2=0.67{\sim}0.93$), T-N concentrations ($R^2=0.40{\sim}0.58$) and $NO_3-N$ concentrations ($R^2=0.43{\sim}0.65$). The estimated annual nitrate leaching rate of the watershed was 33.0 kg N/ha/yr. The contributing proportions of individual activities to the total nitrate leaching rate of the watershed were estimated for livestock farming, applications of chemical fertilizer, and manure. The simulation results showed that the highest contributor to the nitrate leaching rate of the watershed was chemical fertilizer applications. The simulation period was for one year only, however, and results may vary depending on different conditions. Gathering input data over a longer period of time and monitoring data for calibration is needed. When this has been accomplished, it is expected that this model can be applied to small rural watersheds for evaluating temporal and spatial variations of nitrogen transformations and transport processes.

This study suggested a method calculating the influence of effluent discharge from Saemangeum sluice-gates using the particle tracking model. For 2017, we presented the seasonal effects of effluent discharge as probability spatial distributions and compared with the results of the water age, one of the indicators of transport time scale. The influence of sluice-gates effluent discharge increases radially around Sinshi or Gaseok gates, which are expected to be biased toward the south in winter and north in summer due to the effect of seasonal winds. Although the results of the prediction are limited to the 2017 situation, the method of calculating the influence of sluice-gates effluent discharge using the Lagrangian particle tracking model can be used to predict the future of the around Saemangeum.

The objective of this study was to test the effects of crown material, cement type, the direction in which stress is applied and distribution of luting cement that might lead to cement microfracture using 2D Finite Element Method. Twenty three finite element models with a chamfer margin configuration were generated for a mandibular first molar. Crown models exhibited four crown materials: type 3 gold alloy, Ni-Cr alloy, ceramic and composite resin, and two luting cements: zinc phosphate and glass ionomer cements with a thicknesses of $70{\mu}m$. Modeled crowns were loaded axially or obliquely at unit load of 1 N. Areas and levels of stress concentrations within the cement were determined. Stress in the cement layer at the margins of crowns were higher than those in the area away from the margin. Stress under oblique loads were much higher than under axial load. The stiffer crown material produced higher stress and similarly, higher stress were found in cements with the greater Young's modulus.

In order to effectively reduce thermal loads on regenerative cooled walls, fuel cooling injectors and film cooling devices have often been employed. The present study has established a numerical methodology for prediction of performance and near-wall temperature distribution taking into account the nonuniform mixing due to these additional cooling devices. A correction procedure for main propulsive parameters has also been proposed based on comparison between prediction and experimental data. Under the computational framework of this study, the predicted results were in good agreement with hot-firing test data for a 30 tonf-class full-scale combustor at the design and off-design conditions. As a consequence, the present numerical method is expected to be useful for design and evaluation of regenerative cooled liquid rocket thrust chambers.

In this paper, the strain distribution of the bond layer has been compared with the experimental data and analyzed according to the different mesh refinements and element types. The mesh density was changed along the longitudinal direction of adherend, the longitudinal direction of overlapped region, the vertical direction of adherend, the vertical direction of adhesive and the width direction of the joint. In addition, the effect of the different types of element was evaluated using soild, shell and plane strain element. The geometric nonlinear analysis was performed to consider the large deformation of the joint. From the numerical result, at least 2 elements were needed to achieve a reliable result as the solid element used. In case of shell element, the peel strain at x/c=1 showed 22.8% error compared with the experiment but the shear strain showed a good agreement with the experiment within 1.67% error.
In spite of many numerical analysis of debris flow, a little information has been found out. In this paper the watershed is divided to apply rainfall runoff and to estimate debris flow integrating flow and soil article. We use the contour data to extract spatially distributed topographical information like stream channels and networks of sub-basins. A Quasi Digital Elevation Model (Q-DEM) is developed, integrated, and adopted to estimate runoff based on marked one. As a results, it has been found out that the debris flow was close to observed flow hydrograph. Because debris flow is finished in 30 second, it is important that we have to prepare its prior countermeasure to minimize the damage of debris flow. The GIS-linked model will provide effective information to plan river works for debris flow.
The Wireless sensor network(WSN) consisting of a large number of sensors aims to gather data in a variety of environments. The sensor nodes operate on battery of limited power. so, To extend network life time is major goals of research in the WSN. In this paper, we state the key point of a energy consumption with minimum&load balancing. The proposed protocol guarantee balance of number of cluster member nodes using the node memory threshold and optimization of distribution of cluster head using the optimized clustering method. The results show that the proposed protocol could support the load balancing and high energy efficiency by distributing the clusters with a reasonable number of member nodes. The simulation results show that our schme ensure longer life time in WSN as compare with existing schemes such as LEACH and CBLM.
