Properties of a Thermosetting Epoxy Composite : Effect of Isothermal Physical Aging (에폭시 열경화 복차재료의 성질 : 등온물리시효의 효과)

  • Isothermal physical aging of a glass fiber/epoxy composite was examined at different aging temperatures ($T_a$) and degrees of conversion (monitored by the glass transition temperature, $T_g$) by means of the TBA torsion pendulum technique. The range of aging temperature was from 10 to $130^{\circ}C$ : the conversion was systematically changed from $T_g$=$76^{\circ}C$ to $T_g$=$177^{\circ}C$ (fully crosslinked). The effect of isothermal physical aging was manifested as perturbations of the modulus and mechanical loss vs. temperature in the vicinity of $T_a$ for all conversions. The rate of isothermal physical aging determined from the change of modulus with aging time at fixed aging temperature decreased and then increased with increasing conversion below T$_{a}$=9$0^{\circ}C$. There exists a superposition in aging rate vs. ($T_g$ -$T_a$) by shifting horizontally and vertically. This implies that the physical aging process is independent of the change of chemical structure as conversion proceeds. It has been found that water absorbed at the aging temperature below $70^{\circ}C$ during isothermal physical aging lowers the apparent aging rate. It is due to the absorbed water molecules forming strong polar interactions with hydroxyl group on network chain and reducing the segmental mobility during the physical aging.g.

A Novel PHKA1 Mutation in a Patient with Glycogen Storage Disease Type IXD (당원 축적병 9D (GSD9D) 환자의 신규 PHKA1 돌연변이)

  • Distal myopathy is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of degenerative diseases of the distal muscle. Glycogen storage disease type IXD (GSD9D) is a metabolic distal myopathy characterized by muscle deficiency of phosphorylase kinase, a key regulatory enzyme in glycogen metabolism. Affected individuals may develop muscle weakness, degeneration, and cramps, as well as abnormal muscle pain and stiffness after exercise. It has been reported that mutations in the PHKA1 gene which encodes the alpha subunit of muscle phosphorylase kinase cause GSD9D. In this study, we examined a Korean GSD9D family with a c.3314T>C (p.I1105T) mutation in the PHKA1 gene. This mutation has not been previously reported in any mutation database nor was it found in 500 healthy controls. The mutation region is well conserved in various other species, and in silico analysis predicts that it is likely to be pathogenic. To date, only seven mutations in the PHKA1 gene have been documented, and this is the first report of Korean GSD9D patients. This study also describes and compares the clinical symptoms and pathological conditions of previously reported cases and these Korean patients. We believe that our findings will be useful for the molecular diagnosis of GSD9D.

  • This study was to understand students' learning about the function of math combined with molecular motions of science using the block scheduling. It was based on the revised Class Structure Model of Lee et al.(2010) where MBL as a tool was used to increase students' participation and understanding in the integrated concepts. The researcher provided the 6th grade students who lived in Sung Nam-Si, Kyung Gi-Do with 8 unit lessons, consisting of 5 stages of CSM. As a result of the study, the integrated education of Mathematics and Science showed synergic effect in studying both subjects and brought a positive result in gradual mathematization. It may be hard to combine all the contents of mathematics and science together. However, learning the relation between volume and pressure, and between volume and temperature of gas used as an example of function shown in our daily life was appropriate through Fogarty's integrated education model because it supported the objective of both subjects. Also, it was a good idea to develop CSM because it was composed of the contents from both subjects held in the same period of a year. Through the five stages, students were able to establish and generalize the definitions and the concepts of function.

The Influences of Reciprocal Peer Tutoring Strategy and Field Independence-Dependence in Instruction Enhancing Student Questions by Using Weekly Reports (주단위 보고서를 활용한 질문 촉진 수업에서 상호동료교수 전략 및 장독립성-장의존성의 영향)

  • This study investigated the influences of reciprocal peer tutoring strategy and field independencedependence in the instruction enhancing student questions by using weekly reports. Seventh graders (N=152) from a middle school were assigned to WR (weekly reports) and WR-RPT (weekly reports-reciprocal peer tutoring) groups. Students were taught about ‘three states of matter', ‘motion of molecules', and ‘change of states and thermal energy for eighteen class hours and wrote weekly reports six times for the period. The students in the WR-RPT group also conducted reciprocal peer tutoring with the questions of weekly reports which they wrote. The results revealed that the scores of the WR-RPT group were significantly higher than those of the WR group in a conception test regardless of students' field independence-dependence. The field dependent students in the WR-RPT group performed better in an achievement test than those in WR group, while there was no significant difference for the field independent stu dents between the two groups. Additionally, field independent students in each group scored significantly higher than field dependent students in the two tests. Many students, especially having more field independence in the WR-RPT group, perceived WR-RPT positively.

In vitro Effect of High Osmolality on Plasma Membrane Activities in the Spermatozoa (In Vitro 고삼투압이 정자 원형질막의 Protein Tyrosine Phosphorylation에 미치는 영향)

  • It has been reported that plasma membrane activity of the spermatozoa may be susceptible to be influenced by extracellular osmolality and such membranous changes involve infracellular molecular changes, special regard to the structure of membranous lipids, and the accompanying ion-channel of which are closely related with their fluidity of $Ca^{2+}$ and HCO$^{-}_{3}$. It is of common recognition that a certain kind of sterol acceptor player an important to induce lipid fluctuation of the sperm plasma membrane which have been influenced by BSA administration and came in effect to outflow of cholesterol from the spermatozoa and resulted in changes of ionic fluidity to facilitate adenylyl cyclase, and to induce protein tyrosine phosphorylation by increase of cAMP and activation of PKA. Thus it seems likely that an augmentation of the acrosomal reaction is closely related with protein tyrosine phosphorylation. The following experimental results were obtained in the present study; Under the high osmolality conditions, the spermatozoa motility declined significantly and the structural change of the plasma membrane diminished to confirm that the response degrees to the osmolality depended upon the water transfer volume through the plasma membrane and the changes of cellular volume. Those experimental results suggest that a physiological parameter such as low temperature condition played an important role for presentation of spermatozoa and that inducement of spermatozoa activation for reinforcement of protein tyrosine phosphorylation. On the other hand, it seemed likely that the BSA administration as one of sterol accepters might represent a key role also under the high osmolality condition and their result also suggests that osmolality change, special regard to high osmolality condition may play an important role also in the processes of signal transmission.

Analysis of Level of Science Learning Concepts Presented in Life and Matter Fields of the 7th Grade Science Textbooks (7학년 과학 교과 생명 및 물질 영역의 과학 학습 개념의 수준 분석)

  • This study is to investigate the level of science learning concepts presented in life and matter fields of the 7th science textbooks. 6 units were analysed; 'the structure of living things', 'digestion and circulation' and 'respiration and excretion' of life field, and 'three states of matter', 'molecular motion', 'a change of state and the energy' of matter field. The gross number of concepts was 305 in life field, and 73 in matter field of the 7th science textbooks. Among publishing companies, the number of concepts was a little difference. Much more concepts in life field were presented than those in matter field. Percentages of the number of concrete and formal concepts were 58% and 42% in life, and 14% and 86% in matter field. The ratio of the number of concrete versus formal concepts was different between life and matter field. Thus, it is implied that science learning concepts are presented considering cognitive level of learner, and unit and content are constructed on the basis of properties of science fields in developing science curriculum and textbooks.

전자파의 신경계통에 대한 영향

  • 최근 선진국가들에서는 전자파 장애 증후군에 관심이 집중되고 있는데, 전자파에 장기 노출 되는 인구에서 뇌암이나 유방암, 백혈병 등의 발생률이 높다는 보고(Kolmodin-Hedman 등, 1988 ; Demers등, 1991)가 있어서 전자제품의 생산업체는 물론이고 사용자에 대해서도 불안한 관심사가 되 어 있다. 전자파가 생체에 미치는 영향은 열적 효과와 비열적 효과에 의한 것으로 구분된다. Microwave는 약 300MHz에서 300GHz 사이(파장 1m에서 1mm사이)의 주파수를 가지는 전자파로서 이온의 운동이나 쌍극자분자(dipole molecule)들을 진동시키므로서 조직에 열이 발생한다. 열이 과도하게 발생하면 세포 단백질이 응고하게 되는 등 일반적으로 생각할 수 있는 고열로 인한 여러 가지 유해환경이 조직 에 조성될 수 있다. 실제로 고전압의 전자파에 노출된 안구의 수정체에 백내장 등의 병변이 발생한 것 으로 보고된 바 있다(Adey,1981). 일반적으로 전자파의 생체에 대한 작용으로는 이렇듯 조직에 흡수 되는 전자파의 에너지에 의한 열작용이 지배적인 것으로 생각되어 왔다. 그러나 초저주파역대(Extre- mely low frequency, EMF)의 변조 및 펄스파 등의 영향에 관해서도 조직의 온도상승으로는 설명할 수 없는 현상이 보고된 바 있다. 이러한 비열적 효과가 신경계에 끼치는 영향에 대해서는 혈액뇌관문 의 투과성 변화(Oscar와 Hawkins, 1977), 뇌종양 발생, 칼슘대사 이상 및 신경전달물질에 대한 영향 등이 주장(Anderson, 1993)되고 있으나 아직 그 분명한 기전이 밝혀져 있지 않은 상태이다. 또한 그 영향의 평가에 서도 일정한 기준이나 지표가 정해지지 않은 실정이다. 그러므로 신경계에 대한 대체적인 소개와 더불어 전자기파의 영향에 대한 이제까지의 보고를 종합 하고 향후 연구의 방향을 소개하고자 한다.> 이온이 공동 첨가제로 더 적합하다.u(30 .angs. )/CoFe(35 .angs. )/NiO(800 .angs. ) 구조를 갖는 spin-valve 박막은 극대 MR비 6.3%, 유효자기장감응도 약 0.5(%/Oe)를 보여 spin-valve head 재료로 적합함을 알 수 있었다.다.다.다.는 각각 148 meV .angs. $^{2}$, 103.8 meV .angs. $^{2}$와 1.77 * $10^{-6}$ erg/cm, 0.67 * $10^{-6}$ erg/cm 였다.다.자 노인들을 영주권자와 귀화 시민권자의 구분없이 하나의 집단으로 간주하고 분석해 왔던 것을 볼 때, 앞으로의 연구는 이론적으로나 방법론적으로 시민권의 유무가 주거형태에 끼치는 영향도 함께 고려해야 할 것이다.에 나타난 인도의 영향은 여성복식과 남성복식에 있어서 서로 유사점과 차이점이 보이는데, 인도의 영향이 여성복식에 있어서 그 빈도가 더 높고, 종류가 더 다양함을 볼 수 있다. 여성복식에 있어서는 12가지의 다양한 인도복식스타일이 나타났으며, 그중 가장 많이 보이는 스타일은 Indian Shirt/Blouse/Smock/ Dress이며, 그 뒤를 이어 Madras, Indian lowery등을 볼 수 있다. 남성복식애 나타난 7가지의 스타일 중에는 Madras가 가장 빈도가 높으며 그외의 스타일들은 그 빈도가 매우 낮음을 볼 수 있다. 인도의 영향의 정도 (Attribution Categories) 있어서는 여성과 남성복식 모두에 있어서 인도에서 직접 수입된(originated) item이 각각 전체의 90%와 81%를 차지하여, 인도복식의 영향은 받았으나 미국내에서 제작된(attributed and connotated) item 보다 휠씬 더 많은 수를 보였다. 인도복식스타일이 가장

  • Interests in human brain functionality and its connectivity have much frown up. DTI (Diffusion tensor imaging) has been known as a non-invasive MR) technique capable of providing information on water diffusion in tissues and the organization of white matter tract. Thus. It can provide us the information on the direction of brain fiber tract and the connectivity among many important cortical regions which can not be examined by other anatomical or functional MRI techniques. In this study. was used the 24 bit color coding scheme on the IDL platform in the windows environment to visualize the orientation of major fiber tracts of brain such as main association, projection, commissural fibers and corticospinal tracts. We additionally implemented a color coding scheme for each directional component and FA (fractional anisotropy), and used various color tables for them to be visualized more definitely. Consequently we implemented a fancy and basic technique to visualize the directional information of fiber tracts efficiently and we confirmed the feasibility of the 24 bit color coding scheme in DTI by visualizing main fiber tracts.

A Plateau and Spurt Pattern of Neurological Maturation, Scientific Reasoning Development and Conceptual Change in Korean Secondary School Students (중등학교 학생들의 신경기능 성숙, 과학적 사고 발달 그리고 개념 변화에서 밝혀진 비선형적 발달의 정체와 급등 현상)

  • The present study tested the hypothesis that adolescent's prefrontal lobe growth plateau and spurt exists and that this plateau and spurt influence students' ability to reason scientifically and to learn theoretical science concepts. In theory, maturation of the prefrontal lobes during early adolescence allows for improvements in students' abilities to inhibit task-irrelevant information and coordinate task-relevant information, which along with both physical and social experience, influences scientific reasoning ability and the ability to reject scientific misconceptions and accept scientific conceptions. Two hundred six students ages 13 to 16 years enrolled in four Korean secondary schools were administered tests of prefrontal lobe functions, scientific reasoning, and theoretical concepts derived from kinetic-molecular theory. A series of 14 lessons designed to teach the concepts were then taught. The concepts test was then re-administered following instruction. As predicted among the 14-year-olds, performance on the measures of prefrontal lobe functions, scientific reasoning, and conceptual change remained similar or regressed. Performance then improved considerably among the 15 and 16-year-olds. Because so few of the present students were able to undergo this apparently necessary conceptual change, the value of introducing theoretical concepts to early adolescent is questioned.

An Analysis of the Definition and the Meaning Used for the Terms of Heat and Thermal Energy in the Science Textbooks (과학과 교과서에 나타난 열과 열에너지 용어의 정의 및 사용 의미 분석)

  • In this study, we tried to find out how heat and thermal energy terms are defined and used in Korean science textbooks, and to see if there are any differences in the meaning of these terms used in different areas of science. For this purpose, the contents of 52 science textbooks of elementary, middle and high school published by the 2009 revised curriculum were analyzed. The definition of the term heat is given in the middle school Science(1) and the high school Physics I and II textbooks. Most textbooks define heat as "energy transferred due to a temperature difference (Type I)". Only one textbook of Physics I defines heat as "transfer of energy due to a temperature difference (Type II)". The definition of thermal energy is mostly presented in the middle school Science (2) and the high school Physics I textbooks. Physics I textbooks define the thermal energy as "molecular kinetic energy (Type III)", while Science(2) textbooks define it as Type I or "energy causes temperature change or phase transition of matter (Type IV)". In the texts of textbooks, heat is mainly used as the meaning of Type I or Type III. Thermal energy is mainly used as Type III, but it is also used as Type I in the high school Physics and Chemistry textbooks. The meanings of heat and thermal energy terms used are differed by the area of science. They are mainly used as type I or type III in Physics and Chemistry textbooks, and used as type III in Life Science and Earth Science textbooks.
