Synthesis and Characterization of Two Different 1,3-Dithiole-2-thiones as the Precursors of TTF Donor Molecule (TTF 주게분자의 전구체로서 두 가지 다른 1,3-Dithiole-2-thione 화합물의 합성 및 특성화)

  • As a precursor of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivative, 5,6-dimethyl-1,3-dithiolo[4,5-b][1,4]dithiin-2-thione (compound 3) was synthesized by the unusual Lawesson's reaction. Depending upon the substituents such as dimethyl and diphenyl groups, two different products containing 1,4-dithiin and thiophene moieties, respectively, were obtained and characterized by $^{13}C$ NMR and high-resolution electron impact (HREI) mass spectroscopy. The formation of 3 was further characterized by X-ray structure analysis. Crystallographic data for 3: triclinic, space group P1, a=4.145(2)$\AA$, b=10.600(2)$\AA$, c=12.279(2)$\AA$, $\alpha$=71.440(10)$^{\circ}$, $\beta$=84.30(2)$^{\circ}$, $\gamma$=87.31(2)$^{\circ}$, Z=2 and R(wR$_2$)=0.0559(0.1416). The formation mechanism of two products was suggested and compared each other.

  • Block copolymers spontaneously assemble into various nanoscale structures such as spheres, cylinders, and lamellar structures according to the relative volumn ratio of each macromolecular block and their overall molecular weights. The self-assembled structures of block copolymer have been extensively investigated for the applications such as nanocomposites, photonic crystals, nanowires, magnetic-storage media, flash memory devices. However, the naturally formed nanostructures of block copolymers contain a high density of defects such that the practical applications for nanoscale devices have been limited. For the practical application of block copolymer nanostructures, a robust process to direct the assembly of block copolymers in thin film geometry is required to be established. To exploit self-assembly of block copolymer for the nanotechnology, it is indispensible to fabricate defect-free self-assembled nanostructure over an arbitrarily large area.

  • The structure of Cantharidin (Hexahydro-3a,7a-dimethy1-4,7-epoxyisobenzofuran-1,3-dione, C/sub 10/H/sub 12/O/sub 4/)has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The crystal system is orthorhombic, space group Pna2/sub 1/, unit cell constants, a=11.0731(9) (equation omitted), b=6.7344(4) (equation omitted), c=12.5000(9) (equation omitted), α=β=γ=90°, V=932.13(12) (equation omitted), T=296K, Z=4, D/sub c/=1.398Mgm/sup -3/. The intensity data were collected on an Enraf-Nonius CAD-4 Diffractometer with graphite monochromated MoKα radiation(λ=0.71073(equation omitted)). The molecular structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least squares to a final R=4.42% for 759 unique observed F/sub o/>4σ(F/sub o/) reflections and 140 parameters.

  • The hetero-epitaxial growth of AmB v type onto-electronic material is attempted by means of the laser-induced chemical vapour deposition technique. The bimolecular gas phase reaction of trimethylgallium with ammonia on (001) alumina substrate for the epitaxy of gallium nitride is chosen as a model system. In this study, ArF exciter laser (193nm) is employed as a photon source. Marked difference is found in nucleation and in subsequent crystal incorporation between the doposits formed with and without the laser-irradiation. The surface coverage with isomorphically grown drystallites is pronounced upon "volume-excited" irradiation in comparison with the conventional thermal process. As to the crystal structure of the grown layers, the laser-induced deposits of GaN may be represented by either of the following two models: (001) plane of sapphire //y (001) plane of wurtzite-type GaN, OR (001) plane of sapphire//(001) plane of wurtzite-type-GaN (111) plane of twinned zinc blende-type GaN.

Crystal Structure of $KTiP_2O_7$ (의 결정구조)

  • The compound titanium (III) pyrophosphate, KTiP2O7 has been prepared and the crystal structure of the compound has been determined by the X-ray diffraction techniques. It crytallizes in the space group P21/a of the monoclinic system with four formula units in a cell of dimensions a=8.210(3), b=10.292(2), c=7.434(1)Å and β=106.71(2)°. The structure consists of the framework possessing corner-sharing octahedral TiO6 and pyrophosphate groups. As a result, a tunnel structure has been constructed and the K+ cations reside inside the tunnel. KTiP2O7 is isostructural with other trivalent metal pyrophosphates such as KAlP2O7 and RbTiP2O7 but the size difference of the alkali metals causes the variation in the structure. The classical charge balance of the compound can be described as [K+][Ti3+][P24O74-].

  • 사람치주인대섬유모세포(human periodontal ligament fibroblast, PDLF)의 기능 손상과 클로르헥시딘(Chlorhexidine, CHX)의 세포독성에 관한 분자적인 기전은 최근까지도 불명확하다. 이 연구의 목적은 PDLF에 의한 골결절 형성에 있어서 CHX의 효과를 평가하고, 치주수술후에 치주병원균의 최소억제농도(minimal inhibitory concentration, MIC)를 평가하고자 하였다. CHX의 세포독성을 평가하기 위해서 MTT assay법을 실시하였다. CHX은 0.12%에서 0.00012%까지, 즉 10-1000배로 희석시킨 후 30, 60, 120초 동안 PDLF에 적용되었고, 석회화된 결절은 alizarin red 용엑에 염색되었다. 치주병원균에 대한 CHX의 MIC가 평가되었다. 이 연구 결과, 세포생존율 검사에서는, 단지 0.12% CHX 에 노출되었던 세포들만 세포 증식 소견을 다소 나타내었다. 모든 CHX 농도(0.12%-0.00012%)에서 PDLF에 의한 골결절 형성은 의미있는 감소를 나타내었다. 또한 치주병원균에 대한 CHX의 MIC는 0.0012%로 나타났다. PDLF의 골결절 형성에 영향을 주는 농도(0.00012%)는 세포독성을 나타내는 농도(0.12%)보다 더 낮은 농도를 보였고, 치주병원균의 최소억제에 필요한 농도는 0.0012%로 나타났다. 이런한 결과들은 통상적으로 상용되는CHX이 PDLF에 의한 골결절 형성에 있어서 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사하였다.

Preparation and Characterization of Nylon 6-Morpholinone Random Copolymers Based on ε-Caprolactam and Morpholinone (바이오 기반 ε-Caprolactam과 Morpholinone을 사용하여 중합한 나일론 6-모폴리논 랜덤 공중합체의 제조와 특성평가)

  • Bio-based nylon 6-morpholinone random copolymers were prepared by the anionic ring opening polymerization of ${\varepsilon}$-caprolactam and morpholinone, both of which were prepared from lysine and glucose, respectively. From this work, a new biomass based nylon 6 with improved hydrophilicity was prepared. Optimizing the polymerization condition, copolymer with a viscosity-average molecular weight of 30000 g/mol was prepared, with a yield of 80%. It was possible to improve the hydrophilicity of nylon 6 by its copolymerization with morpholinone. The prepared nylon 6-morpholinone random copolymers were then characterized using several analytical methods such as DSC, TGA, XRD, viscosity measurement with U-shaped glass capillary viscometer and contact angle measurement.

The Separation of Transglutaminase Produced from Streptomyces mobaraensis and Its Application on Model Food System (Streptomyces mobaraensis로부터 생산되는 transglutaminase 분리 및 모델식품 적용)

  • Transglutaminase (TG) was prepared from Streptomyces mobaraensis to improve texture and self-life of food. In preliminary experiments, texture of the dough was not improved due to the interference in microbial TG reaction by proteases present in the crude enzyme. Among the cation exchange resins tested for the removal of proteases, MonoPlus S 100 was the most efficient. Further purification steps with a quaternary ammonia salt resin and gel permeation chromatography effectively removed proteases from crude enzyme. Molecular weight of purified enzyme was about 38,000 on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Farinograph data showed the addition of purified enzyme to wheat flour gave higher stability and lower weakness values those that of crude enzyme.

The transparent and conducting tin oxide thin films by the pulse laser deposition (펄스레이저증착에 의한 투명전도성 산화주석 박막)

  • The transparent conductiong thin films of tin oxides were prepared on pyrex glass substrates by the pulse laser deposition. In the atmospheres of vacuum, O2, and $Sn(CH_3)_4$ a polycrystalline $SnO_2$ target was ablated by Nd-YAG laser beam to deposit thin films on the substrates at room temperature, and as-deposited films were subsequently heat-treated in the air for 2 h at 230, 420 and $610^{\circ}C$, respectively. The characteristics of the thin films were examined by UV-VIS-NIR spectrometry and X-ray diffractometry, and the electrical properties were measured by four-point probe method along with film thickness monitored by the stylus method. It was observed that in the presence of $Sn(CH_3)_4$, $SnO_2$ phases were grown even at room temperature. This suggests that the microplasma producted during the laser ablation plays an important role in the dissociaation of precursor molecules.

Purification and Characterization of Transglutaminase from a Newly Isolated Streptomyces platensis YK-2 (토양 방선균 Streptomyces platensis YK-2가 생산하는 Transglutaminase의 정제 및 효소학적 특성)

  • A species producing transglutaminase (EC 2.3.2.13) was isolated from forest soil and identified as Streptomyces platensis YK-2. The transglutaminase was purified from culture broth by 50% methanol precipitation, followed by successive chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex. The yield and purification-fold was 63.4% and 2.2-fold, respectively. The purified microbial transglutaminase (MTG) migrated as a single band of approximately 45 kDa upon sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel eletrophoresis. The isoelectric point determined by multichambered electrofocusing was pH $6.0{\sim}7.0$. The enzyme was strongly inhibited by $Hg^{++}$, but was activated by $Cd^{++}$, $Mg^{++}$, $Mn^{++}$, $Pb^{++}$ and reducing agents such as dithiothreitol and mercaptoethanol.
