Synthesis of melamine-type functional grinding aids and physical properties of cement applied to them (멜라민계 기능성 분쇄조제의 합성 및 이를 적용한 시멘트의 물리적 특성)

  • This study intended to manufacture high quality cement, such as solving the quality problem of cement which has been emerging recently, along with improving grinding efficiency. To this end, the synthesis of melamine-functional pulverizing agents and the physical properties of cement applying them were reviewed and the reaction was carried out by dividing the melamine airborne compound into three stages of polymerization using methylation, sulfonation, and acid catalyst to improve the crushing efficiency of cement clinker and the physical properties of manufactured cement. The obtained melamine type copolymer was applied to the grinding process of cement clinker. And it's grinding efficiency and compressive strength were compared with DEG(diethylene glycol) and TIPA(triisopropanol amine). When it comes to the grinding efficiency, by lowering surface energy with stable adsorption from organic polymer to cement particles, the fineness showed 4-6% up. In the meantime, the compression strength hiked 30% from its initial strength compared to the conventional DEG. At the age of 28days, the strength showed approximately 13% improvement. Therefore, it is confirmed that the overall quality has been elevated in comparison with the conventional one.

Development of Solid/Liquid Separation Technique for Krill (Eupausia superba) (남극 크릴새우의 고액분리 기술개발)

  • Economic development involves increase in life expectancy as well as human health care. Consequently, demand for fish meal and fish oil is rapidly growing. In particular, Krill (Eupausia superba) oil product is in high demand due to its rich unsaturated-fatty acid, and thus stable supplies are necessary in the krill oil market. It is required for captured krills to be immediately frozen and stored during ship transport, since proteins of the krill are quickly denatured in natural temperature condition. However, the transportation cost has been sharply increased, which encourages researchers to involve in studies for development of efficient oil extraction process. In this study, a solid/liquid separation technique on boat for the krill oil was developed through triple separation tests using only a separator or using either brush or crusher prior to the separator. The separation tests revealed that the efficiency were 46.2, 60.2 and 60.4 % by the separator, combination with brush, and combination with crusher, respectively. In addition, it was found that byproduct, extracted cake, derived from the separation process could be used as a feed stuff. These results suggest that smashing using the brush or crusher prior to the separator is more efficient than using only the separator.

Characteristics and Comminution Properties of the Sericite from Goheung Area (고흥산 세리사이트의 物性 및 분쇄 특성)

  • The Sericite Powder W3S Comminuted in 1 M $KNO_3$solution for 0.5, 1, 2, 5 and 10 h, compared with the addition of distilled water. It has been found that the mean diameter of the ground particles decreases until the comminuting for 1 h, however, increases after 1 h due to the agglomeration between fine particles. The sericite powder comminuted with 1 M $KNO_3$solution for 1 h shows the mean particle size of $1.9\mu$m, and it also shows the mean particle size of 2.4 $\mu$m in case of comminution in distilled water for 1 h.

  • To develop an attrition coupled enzyme reactor with high efficiency-low energy consumption for saccharification of insoluble biomass, a 5L horizontal paddle type bioreactor was constructed and its performance was evaluated. The optimal condition for saccharification of 50g $\alpha$ -cellulose/L was found to be 200rpm with 500g of 3mm glass bead. Especially, the horizontal paddle type bloreactor was very effective for saccharification of high concentration of insoluble cellulose, in which around 72% of $\alpha$ -cellulose was saccharified for 75g $\alpha$ -cellulose/L, and even up to 70% for 100g of $\alpha$ -cellulose/L after 24hours. Under the optimal condition, the power consumption was measured to be around 1.7watth/g. Horizontal paddle type bioreactor seems to have an appropriated structural feature for industrial scale operation and to be an effective and energy saving attrition coupled enzyme reactor.

The Study of Characteristics of Cosmetic Powder by Using Various Grinding mill (화장품용 분체의 분쇄방식에 따른 특성연구)

  • By Using various grinding mill in powder cosmetics manufacturing process; screen milt and pin mill, jet mill, properties of the powder and grinding mills were studied; talc, mica, nylon powder, silica, titanium dioxide. Besides, the experiments fur evaluation of grinding were performed by using iron oxides those are tracers. In powders of plate shape, they were grinded more vertically than horizontally at the screen mill and pin mill, although were all grinded vertically and horizontally at the jet mill. The spheric powders became the primary particles or aggregation by electrostatic interaction at the screen mill and pin mill. But, at the jet mill, they resulted the agglomeration or transformation or damage up to 2bar. Titanium dioxides became the primary particles by all grinding mill. Pin mill has an excellent result in experiments which is a change of the tone of color by grinding. From these results, suggest that the jet mill is used to pre-treat of powders of plate shape in practical cosmetic manufacturing process, and the screen mill and pin mill are used to match the color of powder cosmetics. If industrial process condition is taken into consideration, suggest that 4times of grinding is excellent on grinding effect by the screen mill, and twice grinding by the pin mill and grind air pressure of 1bar by the jet mill.

Effect of Wet Milling on Scum Generation and Solubilization in Batch Ozone Reaction Using Digested Sludge (소화슬러지를 이용한 회분식 오존반응 시 습식분쇄가 스컴 생성과 가용화에 미치는 영향)

  • Sewage sludge treatment is increasing every year due to improvement of living and urbanization. However, interest in anaerobic digestion which is one of the recycling technology. There is anaerobic digestion of increasing due to limitations of ocean dumping and final disposal. But, the limit of anaerobic digestion efficiency due to the advanced treatment of sewage has been limited, and studies for solubilization technology have been actively conducted. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the variation of generation of scum and the solubilization efficiency in the application of pre-treatment of ozone reaction and the change of properties of digested sludge with wet milling. There are results of VS/TS increased by 4.4% and $SCOD_{cr}/TCOD_{cr}$ increased by 9.4% by wet milling alone. In addition, the increase of the specific surface area due to which the reduction of the particle size of the solid content of the sludge in the ozone reaction caused by wet milling decreased the generation rate of scum at 14.3% and increased VS/TS at 2.1%, compared with the ozone reaction alone. From these results, it is expected that the application of wet milling can be increased the contact efficiency with solids in the sludge during ozone reaction with suppress scum and increase the efficiency of the subsequent process in anaerobic digestion.

Effect of the Mechanochemical Pretreatment on Antioxidant Material Extraction from Pu'er Tea Leaf (Camellia sinensis var. assalnlca) (보이차잎 항산화 물질추출에 메카노케미스트리 전처리 효과분석)

  • 보이차의 주요산지는 중국 운남성이며 특히 란창강 유역이 그 중심지이다. 천연 사포닌과 미네랄류를 풍부하게 포함하고, 지방의 용해, 다이어트 효과, 소화 촉진, 정장 작용, 숙취 해소, 위가 더부룩할 증상 개선, 혈당치 상승 억제, 혈액 순환 촉진에 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다.또한, 면역력 강화 효과와 노화예방, 암 예방효과도 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 보이차의 기능성 물질은 일반적으로 메탄올 또는 에탄올 용매에 의하여 추출한다. 용매에 의하여 추출하기 전에 메카노케미스트리 분쇄기술을 적용하여 전처리하면 재료의 표면적을 증가시키고 부분적으로 화학적 성분을 변화시켜 기능성 물질의 추출효율을 증가시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 메카노케미스트리 분쇄기술을 적용하여 보이차를 전처리한 다음 메탄올과 에탄올 용매에 의하여 기능성 물질을 추출하여 메카노케미스트리 전처리가 항산화 물질의 추출효율에 미친 효과를 분석하였다. 보이차는 메탄올과 에탄올 추출 전에 유성밀에 의하여 분쇄되었으며 분쇄 후의 형상을 SEM 현미경으로 분석하였다. 아질산성질소 소거능은 pH 1.2에서 메탄올 용매추출을 했을 때 전처리하지 않는 경우 63.0-83.0%로부터 메카노케미스트리 분쇄기술을 적용한 전처리를 한 경우에 74.0-92.0%로 증가하였다. 전자공여능은 DPPH(1,1-diphenyl-2-pycrylhydrazyl)를 이용한 방법으로 측정하였으며, 메탄올 용매추출의 경우에 13.12-49.29%로부터 메카노케미스트리 전처리 후에 15.12-64.29%로 증가하였다. DPPH radical 50% 소거능을 나타내는 $IC_{50}$은 전처리하지 않는 경우 164 ug/mL로부터 전처리한 경우에 151ug/mL로 감소하였다.

Preparation of Seaweed Calcium Microparticles by Wet-grinding Process and their Particle Size Distribution Analysis (초미세습식분쇄공정의 공정변수에 따른 해조칼슘의 입자크기 분석)

  • The main objective of this study was to establish optimum condition of wet grinding process for manufacturing microparticulated seaweed calcium. Process parameters such as concentration of forming agent, rotor speed, bead size, feed rate, and grinding time were adapted during wet-grinding of seaweed calcium. The particle size range of the raw seaweed calcium was 10-20 $\mu$m. The calcium particles were reduced to under 1 $\mu$m as nano scale after grinding. Gum arabic was suitable for forming agent and 5%(w/v) concentration was the most effective in grinding efficiency. A wet-grinding process operated at 4,000 rpm rotor speed, 0,4 mm bead size, and 0.4 L/hr feeding rate, respectively, produced less than 600 mm(>>90%)-sized particles. In batch systems, 8 cycles of grinding showed higher efficiency, but 20 min of grinding time in continuous processing was more efficient to reduce particle size than the batch processing. Based on the result, the optimum conditions of the wet grinding process were established: operation time of 20 minutes, rotor speed of 4,000 rpm, bead size of 0.4 mm, feed rate of 40 mL/min and 30% mixing ration with water. The size of the resulting ultra fine calcium particles ranged between 40 and 660 mm.
