  • Wireless sensor networks are used for data collection and processing from the surrounding environment for various applications. Since wireless sensor nodes operate on low computing power, restrictive battery capacity, and low network bandwidth, their architecture model has greatly affected the performance of applications. If applications have high computation complexity or require the real-time processing, the centralized architecture in wireless sensor networks have a delay in data processing. Otherwise, if applications only performed simple data collection for long period, the distributed architecture wasted battery energy in wireless sensors. In this paper, the energy consumption and processing delay were analyzed in centralized and distributed sensor networks. In addition, we proposed a new hybrid architecture for wireless sensor networks. According to the characteristic of applications, the proposed method had the optimal number of wireless sensors in wireless sensor networks.

Performance of Distributed Clustering Protocol in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks (불균일 무선 센서네트워크에서의 분산 클러스터링 프로토콜 성능)

  • Energy efficiency in heterogeneous network is considered as one of the main issues when deploying the wireless sensor network. In heterogeneous network, the random distribution of initial energy at each node could lead to an instability of the network. Therefore, a resonable policy must be established in order to maintain the fairness in energy consumption and extend the working time of each node in the network. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the distributed clustering protocol (DCP) in heterogeneous network on different scenarios. Simulation results are compared with the results of a LEACH protocol in a heterogeneous network. In addition, the performance of system in heterogeneous network are also compared with the homogeneous network to illustrate the effect of imbalance in the initial energy on the life time of each node in the system. The result illustrates that the DCP protocol demonstrates better performance than LEACH protocol in both the heterogeneous and the homogeneous networks.

  • 북한은 전력부족난과 전기품질의 저하로 인하여 주요 생산기업에 지장을 주고 있으며, 노후 발전소의 성능저하도 함께 진행되고 있는 것으로 추정된다. 이에 대한 적절한 대책이 없는 한 그 상황은 더욱 악화될 전망이다. 한반도 에너지 개발기구(KEDO)가 추진하고 있는 경수로 원자력 발전기가 6~7년 후에 준공된다고 해도 이처럼 불안정한 전력계통에 병입되어 원활한 운전이 가능할런지 기대하기 곤란하다. 이러한 실정에서 \circled1 전력부족으로 주파수가 저하될 때 우선 순위가 낮은 부하를 제한하는 자동 부하제한 방식을 포함한 자동 주파수 제어 계통개선 \circled2 기존발전소 성능과 이용을 향상을 위한 재가동(Repowering) 등의 리 엔지니어링 \circled3 가스터빈 복합화력과 열병합발전(Co-generation) 등과 같이 건설기간이 짧고 비용이 적게 들며 송전 설비 건설도 불필요한 분산형 전원의 건설 \circled4 수력발전소와 조력발전소의 건설 \circled5 양수발전 등 전력에너지 저장설비의 개발 \circled6 송전전압격상과 배전방식개선 및 종합전력정보시스템 구축 \circled7 남ㆍ북한 전력계통 내지는 동북아시아 전력계통을 연계하는 평화망사업(Peace Network Project)등의 추진이 경수로 사업에 선행되어야 한다. 특히 러시아, 중국, 한국, 일본의 발전 에너지원 분포와 년간 부하곡선을 고려할 때 동북아시아 전력계통의 연계는 관련국 상호간에 에너지 환경과 경제적 측면에서 상당한 이득과 안정성을 강화해 줄 것이며, 기술발전과 평화공존에 크게 기여 할 것이다. 이를 위하여 관련국의 전력계통연계 전문가들이 참여하는 남\ulcorner북한전력 계통연계연합회(Co-Pia ; Co-rea Power Systems Interconnection Association)와 동북아지역전력 계통연합회(Near Pia=North-Eastern Asia Region Power Systems Interconnection Association)의 구성을 제안하는 바이다. 주요용어(Key Words): 자동주파수 제어(AFC), 리엔지니어링(Re-Engineering), 분산형 전원(Dispersed Generation System), 전력저장(Power Storage), 부하조절기(Load Conditioner), 수요관리(DSM) 연계(Interconnection), 인터시스템(Intersystem), 통합자원계획(IRP), 안전성 강화(Security Enhancement), 전력시장개방(Electricity Free Maket), 통일비용(Unification Expense, Unification Cost), 남ㆍ북한전력계통연계연합회(Co-Pia), 동북아지역전력 계통연계연합회(Nea,-Pia).

Effects of Catalyst Dispersion for Reaction Energy Control on Eco-AZ91 MgH2 (Eco-AZ91 MgH2의 반응열 제어에 미치는 촉매 분산 효과)

  • This study selected Eco-AZ91 MgH2, which shows high enthalpy as a material for this purpose, as the basic material, and analyzed the change in characteristics by synthesizing TiNi as a catalyst to control the thermodynamic behavior of MgH2. In addition, the catalyst dispersion technology using graphene oxide (GO) was studied to improve the high-temperature aggregation phenomenon of Ni catalyst and to secure a source technology that can properly disperse the catalyst. XRD, SEM, and BET analysis were conducted to analyze the metallurgical properties of the material, and TGA and DSC analysis were conducted to analyze the dehydrogenation temperature and calorific value, and the correlation between MgH2, TiNi catalyst, and GO reforming catalyst was analyzed. As a result, the MgH2-5 wt% TiNi at GO composite could lower the dehydrogenation temperature to 478-492 K due to the reduction of the catalyst aggregation phenomenon and the increase in the reaction specific surface area, and an experimental result for the catalyst dispersion technology by GO could be ensured.

  • To investigate the effects of Mo addition on the microstructures and mechanical properties of Al_2O_3$ ceramics, two kinds of Mo particles with average sizes of 2-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 6-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were used as additives. It was shown that Mo particles inhibited the grain growth of Al_2O_3$, and the smaller Mo particles were more effective. In case of 2-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ Mo dispersion, the bending strength and the fracture toughness were increased. Dispersion of 6-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ MO did not increase the strength but improved the fracture toughness a little. The toughening mechanisms of Al_2O_3$-Mo composites are thought to be the crack deflection and microcracking mechanisms.

A Study on Methane Hydrate Formation using Zeolite (제올라이트를 이용한 메탄 하이드레이트 생성에 대한 연구)

  • 상대적으로 이산화탄소 배출량이 적으며, 기존의 천연가스를 대체할 수 있고, 21세기 신 에너지원으로 기대되고 있는 메탄 하이드레이트(Methane hydrate)는 태평양과 대서양의 대륙사면 및 대륙붕, 남극대륙의 주변해역 등지에서 자연적으로 발생한 메탄 하이드레이트의 분포가 확인되었으며, 그 매장량의 1조 탄소톤 이상으로 기존 화석연료의 매장량이 5천억 탄소톤, 대기중의 메탄가스가 3억 6천만 탄소톤임을 고려할 때 2배에 이르는 막대한 양이라고 보고하였다. 따라서 메탄 하이드레이트는 화석에너지를 대체할 수 있는 차세대 청정 에너지 또는 대체 에너지원으로서의 무한한 잠재력을 가지고 있어 새로운 에너지분야로 크게 주목을 받고 있다. 또한 하이드레이트는 $172m^3$의 메탄가스와 $0.8m^3$의 물로 분해된다. 만약, 특성을 역으로 이용하여 산업적으로 고체화 수송을 할 경우 화수송보다 18-24%의 비용절감이 이루어질 것으로 예상되어진다. 그러나 메탄 하이드레이트를 인공적으로 만들경우 물과 가스의 반응율이 낮아 하이드레이트 형성시간이 상당히 길고 가스 충진율도 낮다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 하이드레이트를 빨리 만들며 가스 충진율도 증가시키기 위하여 증류수와 다공성물질이며 나노세공(Nano pore)을 가지고 있는 제올라이트를 증류수에 첨가하고, 초음파 분산하여 만든 혼합유체를 메탄가스와 반응시켜 하이드레이트 형성 실험을 수행하여 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 0.01 wt% 제올라이트 혼합유체에서 증류수보다 하이드레이트가 훨씬 빨리 생성되었으며, 메탄가스소모량은 ${\Delta}T_{subc}$=0.5K에서 약 4배 높음을 보였다.

  • Clustering method in wireless sensor network is the technique that forms the cluster to aggregate the data and transmit them at the same time that they can use the energy efficiently. Even though cluster group model is based on clustering, it differs from previous method that reducing the total energy consumption by separating energy overload to cluster group head and cluster head. In this thesis, I calculate the optimal cluster group number and cluster number in this kind of cluster group model according to threshold of energy consumption model. By using that I can minimize the total energy consumption in sensor network and maximize the network lifetime. I also show that proposed cluster group model is better than previous clustering method at the point of network energy efficiency.

  • In this paper, I propose an Energy efficient Clustering based on Genetic Algorithm(ECGA) which reduces energy consumption by distributing energy overload to cluster group head and cluster head in order to lengthen the lifetime of sensor network. ECGA algorithm calculates the values like estimated energy cost summary, average and standard deviation of residual quantity of sensor node and applies them to fitness function. By using the fitness function, we can obtain the optimum condition of cluster group and cluster. I demonstrated that ECGA algorithm reduces the energy consumption and lengthens the lifetime of network compared with the previous clustering method by stimulation.

An Analysis of the Economy of Scale for Domestic On-site Hydrogen Fueling Stations (국내 분산형 수소충전소의 규모의 경제성 분석)

  • This paper deals with the economy of scale for domestic on-site hydrogen stations fueled with natural gas and naptha. We evaluate the economic feasibility of on-site hydrogen stations with hydrogen production capacities of $30Nm^3/hr,\;100Nm^3/hr\;and\;300Nm^3/hr$. We build a classical economic feasibility model and we make some sensitivity analyses by changing the values of input factors such as the hydrogen sale price and the discount rate. The estimated hydrogen prices of steam methane reforming stations with production capacities of $30\;Nm^3/hr,\;100\;Nm^3/hr\;and\;300\;Nm^3/hr$ are 18,472 won/kg, 10,689 won/kg and 7,758 won/kg, respectively. Also, the hydrogen prices are about the same if we use naptha as a raw material for hydrogen energy instead of natural gas. It turns out that small and medium size domestic on-site hydrogen stations will not be economical in the near future. This indicates that we need to construct large scale on-site hydrogen fueling stations even for the initial phase of the hydrogen economy.
