Divergence of Grounded Theory : Focused on the Differences of Glaser and Strauss (근거이론의 분기: Glaser와 Strauss의 차이를 중심으로)

  • This study explores the divergence of grounded theory focused on the differences of Glaser and Strauss. Grounded theory has been divided into two versions, Glaser version and Strauss version. Two versions are different in research methodology. Therefore, it is important for us to choose one of these two version. There are many grounded theory researches or qualitative researches by grounded theory approach in Korea. But Theses researches has been studied only Strauss version. Therefore this article introduces the differences of Glaser method and Strauss method in various aspects of research methods: basic logic of research process, core category and basic social process, and coding methods - especially axial coding, selective coding and theoretical coding. Glaser and Strauss argued differently in many aspects of grounded theory method.

  • 다양한 공학/산업적 측면에서 동적 취성 파괴 현상은 매우 중요하다. 취성 균열은 다른 균열 전파에 비해 그 전파 속도가 매우 빠르고 전파 범위가 넓기 때문에 대규모의 파괴 현상을 일으킨다. 동적 전파 중인 취성 균열 거동을 모델화하기 위해 오랜 기간 동안 많은 연구가 진행되었지만, 여전히 많은 부분들이 해석되지 못한 채 남아있다. 특히 균열 생성 및 전파를 위해 인위적인 조건들을 도입해야 하는 것은 기존 방법론들이 가지는 공통적인 문제점이다. 본 연구는 peridynamics를 동적 분기 균열 문제 해석에 도입한다. Peridynamics는 전통적인 연속체 이론에 기반한 수치해석 모델화 기법으로 균열과 같은 비연속성이 있는 문제의 모델화에 강점이 있으며, 인위적인 조건 없이 매우 간단한 방법으로 파괴 현상을 해석할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 peridynamics 모델이 실험적으로 관측된 분기균열 형상과 균열 전파 속도를 매우 잘 예측해 낼 수 있음을 보인다. 또한 균열팁 주변에 높은 응력이 발생할 때 나타나는 연쇄 분기 현상도 해석할 수 있다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 응력파가 균열 전파 속도를 변화시키고 전파 방향에도 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다. 수치해석 결과도 또한 실험 결과들과 잘 부합함을 확인하였다.

Analysis of Running Safety According to Changes of Guard Rail Length on F10/F12 Turnout (F10/F12 분기기에서의 가드레일 길이 변화에 따른 주행안전성 해석)

  • The speed-limit regulation on a turnout is the main factor inhibiting the speed-up of conventional lines. The specified speed for a train moving through a turnout system is lower than that for a train traveling over the general track. This is done to ensure the running safety of a railway vehicle moving through a turnout. In this study, the shape change example of the guard rail component of a turnout in the Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation (DTRO) system was studied. A theoretical examination of the geometrical interaction formula according to wheel/rail shape at the turnout was conducted. Running safety analysis by changing the length of the guard rail on the F10/F12 turnout using the developed analysis techniques (by VI-Rail) was achieved, and the effect on railway safety was examined accordingly.

A Bifurcation Analysis of Space Structures by Using 3D Beam-Column Element Considering Finite Deformations and Bowing Effect (유한변형과 굽힘효과가 고려된 3차원 보-기둥요소에 의한 공간구조물의 분기좌굴해석)

  • The present paper briefly describes the space frame element and the fundamental strategies in computational elastic bifurcation theory of geometrically nonlinear, single load parameter conservative elastic spatial structures. A method for large deformation(rotation) analysis of space frame is based on an eulerian formulation, which takes into consideration the effects of large joint translations and rotations with finite deformation(rotation). The local member force-deformation relationships are based on the beam-column approach, and the change in member chord lengths caused by axial strain and flexural bowing are taken into account. and the derived geometric stiffness matrix is unsymmetric because of the fact that finite rotations are not commutative under addition. To detect the singular point such as bifurcation point, an iterative pin-pointing algorithm is proposed. And the path switching mode for bifurcation path is based on the non-negative eigen-value and it's corresponding eigen-vector. Some numerical examples for bifurcation analysis are carried out for a plane frame, plane circular arch and space dome structures are described.

The Processor Performance Model Using Statistical Simulation (통계적 모의실험을 이용하는 프로세서의 성능 모델)

  • Trace-driven simulation is widely used for measuring the performance of a microprocessor in its initial design phase. However, since it requires much time and disk space, the statistical simulation has been studied as an alternative method. In this paper, statistical simulations are performed for a high performance superscalar microprocessor with a perceptron-based multiple branch predictor. For the verification, various hardware configurations are simulated using SPEC2000 benchmarks programs as input. As a result, we show that the statistical simulation is quite accurate and time saving for the evaluation of microprocessor architectures with multiple branch prediction.

On Constructing Fractal Sets Using Visual Programming Language (Visual Programming을 활용한 Fractal 집합의 작성)

  • In this paper, we present a mathematical theory and algorithm consoucting some fractal sets. Among such fractal sets, the degree-n bifurcation set as well as the Julia sets is defined by extending the concept of the Mandelbrot set to the complex polynomial $Z^n$+c($c{\epsilon}C$, $n{\ge}2$). Some properties of the degree-n bifurcation set and the Julia sets have been theoretically investigated including the symmetry, periodicity, boundedness, and connectedness. An efficient algorithm constructing both the degree-n bifurcation let and the Julia sets is proposed using theoretical results. The mouse-operated software called "MANJUL" has been developed for the effective construction of the degree-n bifurcation set and the Julia sets in graphic environments with C++ programming language under the windows operating system. Simple mouse operations can construct ann magnify the degree-n bifurcation set as well af the Julia sets. They not only compute the component period but also save the images of the degree-n bifurcation set and the Julia sets to visually confirm various properties and the geometrical structure of the sets. A demonstration has verified the useful versatility of MANJUL.of MANJUL.

Simple Recovery Mechanism for Branch Misprediction in Global-History-Based Branch Predictors Allowing the Speculative Update of Branch History (분기 히스토리의 모험적 갱신을 허용하는 전역 히스토리 기반 분기예측기에서 분기예측실패를 위한 간단한 복구 메커니즘)

  • Conditional branch prediction is an important technique for improving processor performance. Branch mispredictions, however, waste a large number of cycles, inhibit out-of-order execution, and waste electric power on mis-speculated instructions. Hence, the branch predictor with higher accuracy is necessary for good processor performance. In global-history-based predictors like gshare and GAg, many mispredictions come from commit update of the history. Some works on this subject have discussed the need for speculative update of the history and recovery mechanisms for branch mispredictions. In this paper, we present a simple mechanism for recovering the branch history after a misprediction. The proposed mechanism adds an age_counter to the original predictor and doubles the size of the branch history register. The age_counter counts the number of outstanding branches and uses it to recover the branch history register. Simulation results on the Simplescalar 3.0/PISA tool set and the SPECINTgS benchmarks show that gshare and GAg with the proposed recovery mechanism improved the average prediction accuracy by 2.14$\%$ and 9.21$\%$, respectively and the average IPC by 8.75$\%$ and 18.08$\%$, respectively over the original predictor.

  • 조건부 분기 명령어(conditional branch instruction)의 잘못된 분기 예측(branch misprediction)은 프로세서의 성능 향상에 심각한 장애 요인이 되고 있다. 특히 시분할(time-sharing) 시스템과 같이 문맥 교환(context switch)이 발생하는 멀티프로그래밍 환경(multiprogramming environment)에서는 더욱 낮은 분기 예측 정확성(branch prediction accuracy)을 보인다. 본 논문에서는 문맥 교환이 발생하는 멀티프로그래밍 환경에서 높은 분기 예측 정확성을 보이는 중첩 분기 예측표 교환(Overlapped Predictor Table Switch, OPTS) 기법을 소개한다. 분기 예측표(predictor table)를 분할하여 각각의 프로세스(process)에 할당하는 OPTS 기법은 문맥 교환의 영향을 최소화함으로써 높은 분기 예측 정확성을 유지하는 분기 예측 방법이다.Abstract There is wide agreement that one of the most important impediments to the performance of current and future pipelined superscalar processors is the presence of conditional branches in the instruction stream. Accurate branch prediction is required to overcome this performance limitation. Many branch predictors have been proposed to help to alleviate this problem, including the two-level adaptive branch predictor, and more recently, hybrid branch predictor. In a less idealized environment, such as a time-sharing system, code of interest involves context switches. Context switches, even at fairly large intervals, can seriously degrade the performance of many of the most accurate branch prediction schemes. In this study, we measure the effect of context switch on the branch prediction accuracy in various situation and show the feasibility of our new mechanism, OPTS(Overlapped Predictor Table Switch), which save and restore branch history table at every context switch.

A Study on Design Method of Tap-off with High Performance for CATV Transmitting Circuits (CATV 신호전송용 Tap-off의 고성능 설계법에 관한 연구)

  • The conventional weakly-coupled tap-off for CATV and/or MATV transmitting circuits has been fabricated empirically and experimentally. So, the theoretical analysis or the design method of the conventional one has not been established, the characteristics of which were not good. To solve these problems, we have proposed a modified weakly-coupled freedom in design. This paper describes the design theories and analysis method of the theoretical frequency characteristics of a Modified Weakly-coupled Tap-off with high density of coupling intervals for CATV and/or MATV system. From the theoretical analysis it has been shown that the frequency characteristics of the tap-off proposed here are improved much in comparision with the conventional one. Furthermore, the practical measurements of frequency characteristics for the fabricated circuits show agreement with the theoretical results, and hence, the validity of proposed design and analysis methods has been confirmed.

카타스트로피 이론과 구조 불안정 해석

  • 구조물의 초기결함 민감도해석과 관련하여 카타스트로피 이론을 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 카타스트로피 이론은 현재까지 수행된 구조불안정현상의 분류에 대한 일반화된 수학적 근거를 제공해 준다. 둘째, 카타스트로피 이론에 의하면 구조물에서의 초기결함 민감도 특성을 위상수학적인 방법론에 의해 적은 계산량으로 구할 수 있다. 셋째, 복잡한 좌굴현상 예를 들면 Modal Interaction, Compound Buckling의 현상이 발생하는 경우 좌굴점근처에서의 분기특성, 초기결함 민감도 특성을 효과적으로 규명하는 모델로서 고차카타스트로피를 이용할 수 있다.
