Microwave tomographic imaging technology using a bi-focusing operator has been developed in order to detect the internal voids/objects inside concrete structures. The imaging system consists of several cylindrical or planar array antennas for transmitting and receiving signals, and a numerical focusing operator is applied to the external signals both in transmitting and in receiving fields. In this study, the authors developed 3-dimensional (3D) electromagnetic (EM) imaging technology to detect such damage and to identify exact location of steel rebars or dowel. The authors have developed sub-surface two-dimensional (2D) imaging technique using tomographic antenna array in previous works. In this study, extending the earlier analytical and experimental works on 2D image reconstruction, a 3D microwave imaging system using tomographic antenna way was developed, and multi-frequency technique was applied to improve quality of the reconstructed image and to reduce background noises. Numerical simulation demonstrated that a sub-surface image can be successfully reconstructed by using the proposed tomographic imaging technology. For the experimental verification, a prototype antenna array was fabricated and tested on a concrete specimen.

In this paper, a monopulse fled for three mode $2{\times}2$ array feed horn antenna was designed. Gain of single feed was 8.25dB. Increasing property of gain and rectangular waveguide and reflection of free space is decreased because it has structure extending to electric plane at connected part from transformation to free space. When fled port1 and port2 is placed vertically and thickness of aperture hem is reduced, isolation is satisfied with property of lower -25dB. Also, at higher frequency, it is confirmed that isolation is improved. Combination of electric field occurs less influence because port1 and port3 is placed horizontally and distribution of electric field is connected to parallel. However, because of combination of electric field, it is more improved from 2dB to 6dB than isolation of port1 and port2. Direct combination occult less effect at port1 and port4 than effect of port2 and port3, it is lower -35dB.

In this paper, a wide-band dipole antenna suitable for use in PCS/WCDMA/WiBro($1.750{\sim}2.39\;GHz$) base station array antenna is presented. The presented antenna is a dipole antenna with pate which has the reflector element and improves the gain flatness. To confirm the wide-band characteristics and the gain flatness of the presented antenna, the experimental antenna is fabricated and its radiation characteristics are measured, compared with calculated results. It is shown that the designed antenna has VSWR less than 1.5, gain over 5 dBi, and gain flatness 0.74 dB in $1.75{\sim}2.39\;GHz$. The measured results show good agreement with the calculated results. From these results, we confirm that the designed antenna can be used as a array element of the wide-band base station array antenna for PCS/WCDMA/WiBro.

Recently international cooperations are formed to deal with the environmental pollution of the atmosphere generated by the vapor compression refrigeration system. A refrigeration technique, which can replace existing CFC refrigerants that are the main cause of environmental contamination, has received greater attention. Magnetic refrigeration is a refrigeration technique using the magnetocaloric effect of the magnetic material, and is an eco-friendly refrigeration technology using the solid refrigerant instead of CFC refrigerants. Also it is regarded as an efficient refrigeration system to generate temperature difference between high and low sides using the temperature change of magnetic refrigerants according to the change of magnetic field, instead of using power-consuming and noisy compressor. In this paper, we introduce the magnetic refrigeration apparatus using concentric Halbach cylinder permanent magnets and the experimental results using the apparatus.
The spermatozoon of Squalidus gracilis majimae is approximately $36.6{\mu}m$ in length and is characterized by a spherical nucleils with the clear chromatin, a short midpiece containing the mitochondria, and a flagellum positioned tangentially to the nucleus. An acrosome is absent as in all teleost fishes. The nucleus is about $1.9{\mu}m$ in diameter and in its periphery contains the electron-lucent chromatin distinguished from the electron-dense chromatin occupying most of the nucleus. The shallow nuclear fossa contains the proximal centriole, instead of two centrioles in deep nuclear fossa in siluroids. The proximal and distal centrioles are oriented approximately $140^{\circ}$ to each other. The mitochondria of 10 or more in number are arranged in three layers and do not surround the axoneme. The asymmetrical distribution of the mitochondria and the eccentrical position of the nucleus with regard to the tail are the general pattern of the cyprinid spermatozoa. S. gracilis majimae spermatozoa have the most mitochondria and the deepest cytoplasmic canal among cyprinid species. The flagellum lacks the lateral fins.

This study suggests new antenna design for polarization diversity. For dual polarization, two port feeding lines are printed on two separate layers and cross-shaped aperture is located on ground between the substrates. For reducing back radiation, a reflector is attached around $\lambda$/4 behind feeding substrates. For wide bandwidth we use a perturbed patch with saw tooth shaped. This perturbation effect causes reduction of antenna size and also reduction of array size. With the antenna proposed here, $1\times4$ array dual polarization antenna for polarization diversity of PCS base station is built. One single element has as large as 10.3%, 11.3% bandwidths at each port, V.S.W.R less than 1.3 and the isolation is less than -40 dB, also array antenna has 13.2% 12.7% band bandwidth, V.S.W.R less than 1.3 the isolation below -36dB and the XPD of 10 dB.

Frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radars with array antennas are widely used because of their light weight and relatively high resolution. A usual approach for the joint range and angle estimation of a target using an array FMCW radar is to create a range-angle matrix with the deramped received signal, and subsequently apply two-dimensional(2D) frequency estimation methods such as 2D fast Fourier transform on the range-angle matrix. However, such frequency estimation approaches cause bias errors since the frequencies in the range-angle matrix are not independent. Therefore, we propose a new maximum likelihood-based algorithm for joint range and angle estimation of targets using array FMCW radar, and demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves the Cram?r-Rao bounds, both for range as well as angle estimation.

In this paper, we propose a conformal Ku-band data link antenna to ensure low RCS of stealth UAV. As a phased array antenna with electrical beam steering function, a transmitter and a receiver were designed and manufactured for FDD communication, respectively. Each antenna is designed as a 12*12 planar array antenna and has a function to form a uni-directional pattern and a bi-directional pattern through phase control of unit elements. The beam steering range is designed to be able to steer up to 60 degrees in theta direction and 360 degrees in the phi direction. As a result of manufacturing and measurement, the conformal type radome has low transmission loss and meets the required specifications including system performance. The feasibility of mounting the stealth UAV has been confirmed, and future research directions such as interworking of baseband devices and conversion to digital beam steering function are suggested.
This paper presents a S-band phased array antenna system for receiving LEO satellite telemetry signals. The proposed antenna, which is performed to be beam-tiled along the elevation direction, consists of 16 sub-array assemblies, 16 active circuit modules, a perpendicular feed network and a control/power unit. In order to precisely track an LEO satellite, the developed antenna is placed with its elevation axis along the projected trajectory of the satellite on the earth. The center of antenna aperture is facing to the maximum elevation angle in the LEO trajectory. The beam-tilted angles for tracking LEO satellite are obtained by calculating accurately satellite points. Satellite tracking measurements are carried out in the range of ±30° with the respect to the maximum elevation angle. The S/N ratio of 16.5 dB and the Eb/No of 13.3 dB at the maximum elevation angle are obtained from the measurements. The measured result agrees well with the pre-analyzed system margin.
In this paper, in order to implement the IDWT(inverse discrete wavelet transform) with relatively low complexity, we propose a VLSI architecture for odd-tap linear-phase IDWT filters. By considering the symmetric property of the linear phase filter, the input is added to the one located at symmetrical position of the filter before filtering. Then. we rearrange the delay line of the filter in a U-shaped fashion. requiring no global interconnection between the components. The proposed architecture for the IDWT filter consists of delay units. operator units, adder units. and postprocessor unit. Since each units are configured regularly and interconnected locally. the proposed architecture can accommodate arbitrary linear phase IDWTs by simply adding/removing the corresponding units. The M -level IDWT can be implemented by interconnecting the proposed architecture in a cascaded or semi-recursive form. It is expected that the proposed architecture for the IDWT can be effectively employed in the related area including MPEG-4, since the proposed architecture is less complex than the conventional architectures.
