The program aimed to enhance the parents' sense of competence and their relationships with their child. Each week for 5 weeks, 10 parents of 10 children with ASD (aged 3 to 9 years) received weekly 30-minute personalized lessons on how to implement the home-based music program and implemented the educated music program at home with activities involving receptive and active engagement. On average, the parents conducted the music program 2.5 times a week for about 9.2 minutes per session. In addition, positive changes were noted on the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale and the closeness aspect of the parent-child relationship. Participants affirmed the program's feasibility, emphasizing its potential for supporting families with children with ASD. These results provide foundational data for future home-based music activities and programs, emphasizing the importance of tailoring interventions to the unique needs of families with children with ASD.

  • The purpose of this study is to synthesize research findings on the relationship between parenting efficacy and the variables related to it, as well as to produce results using meta-analysis. The following questions guide this study : Which variables are frequently conducted in research related to parenting efficacy? What is the effect size of each variable? The 65 studies whose results are analyzed in this paper were collected via a search for investigations focusing on 'parenting efficacy'. The studies were used for meta-analysis in which eleven variables were selected. The results of the analysis indicate that a large effect size is produced by the parenting stress in a negative direction. A higher than medium effect size occurs on the basis of parenting beliefs in a negative direction. A higher than medium effect size is also caused by the father's involvement in child care and social support. A medium effect size is produced on the basis of children's temperament, and a small effect size is the result of the mother's academic background, parenting knowledge, and parent's income. There is no relationship between parenting efficacy and children's gender.

  • This study was carried out as a preliminary study to analyze the effect of parenting attitudes on the career decision-making types of middle school students. We analyzed the mediating effect of self-efficacy to develop a program that can be implemented jointly at home and at school to help middle school students who are facing the Free Semester System in 2016 to form an ideal career decision-making type. To that end, a survey was conducted with 345 students attending a middle school located in Northern Seoul, and the 335 valid questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS v22. In the sociodemographic analysis, there was no difference in parenting attitudes between groups in terms of religion and family income. The democratic attitude of parents had the greatest impact on the rational career decision-making type, while the permissive attitude had a partial effect. The authoritarian attitude had no effect. Self-efficacy had a mediating effect in only the relationship between democratic parenting attitude and the rational career decision-making type. These findings imply that to help middle school students form a rational career decision-making type, intervention in variables other than self-efficacy is necessary in addition to parent education.
