The Development and Installation of the DNSM 1meter Telescope

  • 국립대구과학관 천체 관측 핵심시설인 1m 반사망원경을 개발하고 설치 완료하였다. 본 발표에서는 국립대구과학관 1m 망원경의 시스템 사양과 개발 및 설치과정을 전반적으로 기술하고 앞으로의 활용계획에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 이번에 도입된 주망원경은 지난 2014년 11월부터 광학계 및 마운트 설계를 시작으로 2016년 5월까지 약 1년 6개월의 개발기간을 거쳐 설치 완료되었다. 순수 국내기술로 개발된 주망원경은 주경 1,000mm(부경 300mm)의 유효구경을 가지며 후방초점거리가 700mm인 초점비 F/8의 리치-크레티앙 방식의 광학계로 설계되었다. 레이저 간섭계를 이용하여 거울면 전체의 형상 오차를 정밀하게 측정한 결과 주경면 PV < ${\lambda}/4$, RMS < ${\lambda}/20$, 부경면 PV < ${\lambda}/10$, RMS < ${\lambda}/50$의 형상 정밀도를 가진다. 포크형태의 경위대식 마운트 구조로 방위각, 고도 양축과 디로테이터에 각각 모터가 장착되어 움직이는 다이렉트 드라이브 방식으로 구동된다. 최대 구동속도는 $2^{\circ}/s$이상, 포인팅 정밀도는 2'이하, 10분간 추적 정밀도는 3"이하(10분간 오토가이더 추적 정밀도는 1"이하)의 구동 성능을 가진다. 제어용 컨트롤 시스템은 JTCS(Justek Telescope Control System)를 사용한다. 성능 평가를 위해 시험 관측된 10~13등급 사이 10개의 별들에 대한 FWHM 측정결과는 4~5" 범위에 있다. 앞으로 지속적인 성능 평가와 업그레이드를 통해 향후 정밀도를 높여 학술 연구용으로 공개할 예정이다. 이번 국립대구과학관 1m 주망원경의 도입으로 지역 천문교육 프로그램이 한 단계 더 도약할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Development of diameter 450 mm Cassegrain tlne collimator (직경 450 mm Cassegrain 형태 시준장치의 제작)

  • The collimator is necessary for the assembly and evaluation of high resolution satellite telescope. Traditionally, the off-axis paraboloid has been used as a collimator. However, it has some disadvantages in that it can suffer from air turbulence when the focal length of a collimator is long, which may result in some error in the measurement. In contrast, since the Cassegrain type collimator folds the beam, it occupies smaller space compared to the off-axis paraboloid for the same focal length. This can reduce the air turbulence, which can improve the measurement accuracy. In this paper, we explain the process of design and manufacturing of a diameter 450 mm Cassegrain type collimator, to evaluate the diameter 300 mm satellite telescope. After assembly of primary and secondary mirrors, the final wavefront error of the collimator was 0.07λ(λ=633 nm), which is the diffraction limit.

  • The Cassegrain telescope consists of a primary concave mirror and a secondary convex mirror. In the case of a secondary mirror, it is more difficult to test wavefront error than for a primary mirror, because it reflects the entire testing beam, as it is convex in shape. In this paper we tested the wavefront error of a complex aspheric convex secondary mirror by using the Simpson-Oland-Meckel Hindle test. To separate the systematic errors, such as fabrication error and alignment error of a meniscus lens, we adopted the QN absolute test (pixel-based absolute test using the quasi-Newton method) as well. Finally, we compared the measured result with that of an ASI (Aspheric Stitching Interferometer) made by the QED company, which resulted in an rms difference of only 2.5 nm, showing a similar shape of astigmatism aberration.

Design of Ka-band Feed Horn and Cassegrain Antenna (Ka-band 대역의 급전 혼과 카셋그레인 안테나 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose a Cassegrain antenna with a scalar feed horn opt rating in Ka-band. For an effective EM simulation of the Cassegrain antenna, the near-field of the feed hone is used ai the equivalent source of the Cassegrain antenna using the surface equivalent theorem. A corrugated circular horn operating with $HE_{11}$ mode is used as the feed horn. The angle and feed center of the main and sub reflectors are optimized to achieve maximum antenna efficiency. The designed feed horn shows the gain of 19dBi, the side-lobe level of less than -25dB and the half power beam width of $20^{\circ}$ at 33 GHz. The Cassegrain antenna shows the gain of 41dBi, the efficiency of 60%, the side-lobe level of less than -20dB and the half power beam width of $1.2^{\circ}$.

Effects of Firm Characteristics on Qualification for Government R&D Supports (기업특성이 연구개발 정부지원 수혜에 미치는 영향)

  • The goal of this paper is to analyze the effects of various firm characteristics on the probability for a firm to receive government’s financial supports for R&D. In the empirical analysis, a Probit model is estimated for the 2008 Korea Innovation Survey data. The main contribution of the paper is to investigate the distribution of R&D supports at the national level, instead of the program level. Especially, it is the first academic effort to evaluate the effects of regional and industrial variables. The results show that: (1) firm size and export increase the probability of receiving government’s R&D support; (2) variables measuring firms’ innovative ability, such as official designation as innovative firm, running R&D institute, number of R&D personnel, also have significantly positive effects; (3) firms in the chemical and automobile industries are more likely to receive R&D supports; and (4) firms in Teakyoung and Bukyoung regions are more likely to receive R&D supports.

Modelling of effluent and GHGs for wastewater treatment plants using by MS Excel simulator(PKES) (MS Excel 시뮬레이터(PKES)를 이용한 하수처리장 유출수 및 온실가스 모델링)

  • This paper presents PKES(PuKyung -Excel based Simulator) for WWTPs(wastewater treatment plants) by using MS Excel and VBA(Visual Basic for Application). PKES is a user-friendly simulator for the design and optimization of the whole plant including biological and physico-chemical processes for the wastewater and sludge treatment. PKES calculates the performance under steady or dynamic state and allows changing the mathematical model by the user. Mathematical model implemented in PKES is a improved integration model based on ASM2d and ADM1 for simulation of AS(activated sludge) and AD(anaerobic digestion). Gaseous components of $N_2$, $N_2O$, $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ are added for estimation of GHGs(greenhouse gases) emission. The simulation results for comparison between PKES and Aquasim(EAWAG) showed about the same effluent concentrations. As a result of verification using by measured data of BOD, TSS, TN and TP for 2 years of operation, calculated effluent concentrations were similar to measured effluent concentrations. The values of average RMSE(root mean square error) were 1.9, 0.8, 1.6 and 0.2 mg/L for BOD, TSS, TN and TP, respectively. Total GHGs emission of WWTP calculated by PKES was 138.5 ton-$CO_2$/day and GHGs emissions of $N_2O$, $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ were calculated at 21.7, 28.9 and 87.9 ton-$CO_2$/day, respectively. GHGs emission of activated sludge was 32.5 % and that of anaerobic digestion was 67.5 %.

Assembly of diameter 300 mm optical beam director (직경 300 mm 광집속장치의 광학정렬)

  • We assembled the optical beam director with diameter 300 mm. This consists of primary, secondary mirrors and 5 folding mirrors. Among them, the primary mirror is the most important component so that we measure any possible deformation on it at every step of assembly. Also, we developed the systematic alignment algorithm, which is essential because the number of mirrors is 7. The final wavefront error of the system is 1.9 wave rms (wave=633 nm) which is 7 times larger than we expected. The main source is the deformation of the 131ding mirrors. We expect that what we have learned from the assembly of this system would be helpful when we deal with a larger system in the future.

Diet of the Korean Flounder Glyptocephalus stelleri in the Coastal Waters of the East Sea of Korea (동해에 출현하는 기름가자미(Glyptocephalus stelleri)의 위내용물 조성)

  • The diet of Glyptocephalus stelleri was studied using 475 specimens collected in the coastal waters of the East Sea of Korea. The specimens ranged from 6.8 to 43.4 cm in total length (TL). G. stelleri was a crustacean feeder that consumed mainly euphausiids [percent index of relative importance (%IRI)=63.7%]. Polychaetes were the second largest prey component. The diet also included small quantities of bivalves, copepods, amphipods and shrimps. Individuals smaller than 15 cm TL fed mainly on euphausiids. The proportion of euphausiids decreased as body size increased, whereas the consumption of polychaetes increased gradually.

Penalized variable selection in mean-variance accelerated failure time models (평균-분산 가속화 실패시간 모형에서 벌점화 변수선택)

  • Accelerated failure time (AFT) model represents a linear relationship between the log-survival time and covariates. We are interested in the inference of covariate's effect affecting the variation of survival times in the AFT model. Thus, we need to model the variance as well as the mean of survival times. We call the resulting model mean and variance AFT (MV-AFT) model. In this paper, we propose a variable selection procedure of regression parameters of mean and variance in MV-AFT model using penalized likelihood function. For the variable selection, we study four penalty functions, i.e. least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), adaptive lasso (ALASSO), smoothly clipped absolute deviation (SCAD) and hierarchical likelihood (HL). With this procedure we can select important covariates and estimate the regression parameters at the same time. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using simulation studies. The proposed method is illustrated with a clinical example dataset.

Seasonal Variations in the Species Composition of Fishes Caught by Gill Net in the Coastal Waters off Gujora and Mangchi on Geoje, Gyeongnam, Korea (경남 거제시 구조라와 망치 연안에서 자망으로 어획된 어류의 종조성 및 계절변동)

  • The monthly variation in species composition of fishes in the Gujora and Mangchi coastal waters in Geoje, Korea, was investigated between June 2018 and May 2019 through monthly fish collections using a gill net. A total of 46 species, numbering 410 individuals weighing a total of 96,645.0 g, were collected during the study period. The dominant species in terms of numbers were Chelidonichthys spinosus, Stephanolepis cirrhifer, Ditrema temmincki, Sillago japonica, Sebastes inermis, and Paraplagusia japonica. The number and biomass of fishes peaked in July. The peak in species diversity indices occurred in September. The cluster analysis revealed that there were four groups of fishes depending on the season. In addition, subtropical fishes were recorded in the study area, indicating the gradual subtropicalization of the coast of Geoje. Furthermore, the need to understand the changes in marine ecosystems owing to subtropicalization through continuous monitoring is emphasized.
