Aflatoxin production by Aspergillus parasiticus NRRL 2999 with two different levels of inoculum sizes ($10^2$ and $10^6$ spores) was studied on such varieties of soybeans produced in Korea as Bongeui, Hwang Keum, Jangbaek, Danyeop, Jangyeop and Namcheon. With the inoculum size of $10^2$ spores/10 g of soybeans, there were statistically difference (p<0.05) on the production of aflatoxins in the varieties of soybeans. The variety of Namcheon produced 7 times higher amount of aflatoxin $B_1$ than that of Bongeui. The variety of Jangyeop produced the highest level of aflatoxin $G_1$ among the varieties employed. Namcheon and Jangyeop were the varieties which supported high amounts of aflatoxins. Much higher levels of aflatoxins were obtained on the soybeans than on rice in general with the inoculum size of $10^2$ spores. With the inoculum size of $10^6$ spores/10 g of soybeans, significantly lower levels of aflatoxins were synthesized by the mold than those with $10^2$ spores. The variety of Namcheon resulted in the lowest production of aflatoxin $B_1$ while Hwangkeum was the variety that produced highest amount of aflatoxin $B_1$. There were no significant differences within the varieties on the production of aflatoxin $G_1$ by the mold except the variety of Hwangkeum. Lower quantities of aflatoxin $B_1$ were produced by the mold en the soybeans than on rice with the inoculum size of $10^6$ spores.
Fatty acid composition and electrophoretic patterns of protein of Korean soybeans were studied, The protein content showed an inverse relation with the lipid content, The content of lipid types of total lipid was in the order of neutral lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid, Cultivar 102-B had higher content of neutral lipid but lower content of phospholipid compared with others. The main component of neutral lipid was triglyceride followed by sterol. The main fatty acids of total lipid were linoleic, oleic and palmitic acids, which comprised over 85% of total fatty acids. The main fatty acid of neutral lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid were linoleic acid. The polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic pattern of protein showed seven bands. The cultivar 102-B had the highest content of IIS globulin. Sodium-dodecyl sulfate PAG electrophoresis demonstrated that all soybeans had similar composition of subunit.
Mt. Mudeung is located in Gwangju city, Damyang-Gun, Hwasun-Gun and its round form give us the mood of soft and rich. Its location is $126^{\circ}06'-127^{\circ}01'E$ and $35^{\circ}06'-35^{\circ}10'N$ and its highest peak is Cheonwang-bong with the height of 1,187 m. The Gwangju city is located in the West of Mt. Mudeng and the mountain range with a small basin in its East. The pavilion such as the Soswaewon, Songganjeong, Sigyongjeong are distributed along the stream in the north of Mt. Mudeung. The mountain is formed from the volcanic activity, Gwangju cauldron during the Cretaceous. The top part of Mt. Mudeung is composed of dark gray quartz-andesite and its K-Ar whole rock age is $48.1{\pm}1.7Ma$. The composition of the north area, where the Wonhyosa temple is located, is micrographic granite, whereas the composition of south area is rhyolite mainly. The main ridge of Mt. Mudeung runs from North, starting from the Bukbong, to south, passing Cheonwangbong, Jangbuljae and ending Anyangsan. Geologic feature of the mountain includes volcanic landform, mountaineous landform, and stream landform. The Seosukdae, Ipseokdae, Gyubongam, which are main ridges and formed from volcanic activity, are composed of mainly columnar joint. Saeinbong and Majipbong in the south-west are composed of mainly cliff and dome. The typical erosion landform of the mountain has three different types of the weathering-cave, each of which reflect the property of the original rock. Four different area of wide block stream, they makes the geological feature of spring-water, though its scale is small compared to that of water fall.
From the soil samples at Seonginbong in Ulleung Island, Gyeongbuk, Korea, Punctoribates hexagonus Berlese, 1908 is found for the first time in Korea. A diagnostic description of this species with detailed illustration and data on its geographical distribution are presented.

This study was conducted to compare carcass yield and meat quality among four lines of Korean native chickens (Yeonsan Ogye, Hyunin Black, Hoengseong Yakdak and Hwangbong) and White Leghorn as control. Chickens (N=23, male) were grown under same conditions and slaughtered at 56 weeks old to observe the physicochemical differences in breast and leg meats. The live and carcass weights of Hwangbong were significantly higher than other chickens (p<0.05). Four lines of Korean native chickens, regardless of the part, had higher shear force value than White Leghorn (p<0.05). In addition, the breast meat of Korean native chickens had higher cooking loss and lower water holding capacity than that of White Leghorn. The cooked meat of Hwangbong particularly were more chewy, gummy and cohesive with lower tenderness than other chickens (p<0.05). Oleic acid content which is related to meat flavor was significantly higher in the breast meat of Hoengseong Yakdak (39.6%). The meat of Korean native chickens had lower n6/n3 ratio, in which the breast and leg meat of Hoengseong Yakdak contained the lowest ratio (p<0.05). The meat of Hwangbong and Hoengseong Yakdak were more acceptable than the others according to sensory test (p<0.05).
Physicochemical properties and positional distribution of Hallabong Tangor (Citrus Kiyomi ${\times}$ ponkan) cultivated in heated greenhouse were investigated. About 90% of Hallabong produce fruit within the range of $250{\sim}400g$ fruit weight on a tree, larger fruits were mainly consisted of $400{\sim}450g$ in M16A, a variant species of Hallabong, due to younger tree and fruit thinning. Nevertheless fruit sizes of M16A were larger than Hallabong, and peel thickness of M16A (3.29 mm) was thinner than that of Hallabong (3.51 mm). Hardness of m6h was 994.69g-force, compared to 832.8 g-force of Hallabong on the average. Soluble solids and acid content of Hallabong were $12.20{\sim}12.98^{\circ}Brix$ and $1.08{\sim}1.14%$, while those of M16A were $1.48{\sim}12.63^{\circ}Brix$ and $0.92{\sim}1.00%$, respectively. Vitamin C content of Hallabong was $71.30{\sim}78.77 mg/100 g$, compared to $64.40{\sim}68.01mg/100g$ in M16A. Soluble solid in the part of stem was lower than that of end part among the same segment. Fruit size in the upper part of the tree was larger, the peel was thicket and flesh ratio was lower than the middle or lower part. However, soluble solids and acid content were high, due to cumulative sunshine during cultivation.
Changes in the quality of Hallabong tangor during growth stage and with temperature pre-treatment after harvest were investigated. Soluble solids of Hallabong increased continuously until early December. The acid content of M16A, a variant species of Hallabong, decreased by 1% after October and continued to decrease until the middle of January. After ripening, treatment to reduce the acid content was required. Fruit firmness decreased gradually until November and was maintained at 1000 g-force after this time. Soluble solids and acid content were $13.3{\pm}0.83^{\circ}Brix$ and $1.07{\pm}0.52%$. Soluble solids increased in temperature-treated Hallabong with prolonged storage, but acid content did not decrease. Fruit firmness also decreased with storage period, regardless of temperature pre-treatment. Therefore, water management during cultivation, temperature treatment above $35^{\circ}C$ after harvest, and checking of the acid content and soluble solids with prolonged storage are recommended in achieving high quality Hallabong.

This study focused on relevant rock names related to Sinsun(神仙) which had been settled as Taoist traces were combined with places. While interpreting major features of Sundoism relevant rocks, it also discussed types and places of rocks reflected in their names by considering distinct characteristics of landscape characters that ancestors viewed through the rocks or on the rocks. Conclusion of this study is summarized as follows. 1. Among the rock names related to Sinsun, the most frequently discovered one was Sinsunbawi(52) and followed by Sinsunbong(神仙峰: 38), Sinsundae(神仙臺: 31). Other than these, there were Gangsundae(降仙臺: 12), Sunyoodae (仙遊臺: 10) and Sasundae(四仙臺: 5). 2. In the name of Sinsundae, 'Dae(臺)' ascertains that it was located in greatly superb place in the aspects of viewpoint and appreciation where landscape superiority and overlook scenery were fair and outstanding. 3. Sinsunbong was named for a peak of mountain. At the same time, it implied a notion of worship with images of 'merging with sky' or 'looking up.' Most of time, Sinsunbong indicated the tallest rock in the mountain chain. 4. A significant number of Sinsunbong had names where legends of Sinsun's Go game or descent were originated from. It shows that 'Sinsun(仙) and Go game' used to be very important motives for folk etymology of Sinsun related rocks. Along with the Sinsundae, a number of Sinsunbawi were also turned out to exist in land and ocean with excellent marine view. 5. According to analysis of their altitudes and heights of the peaks where the rocks belong to, Sinsunbong, Sinsundae and Sinsunbawi were in order. It might indicate that the rocks were located on top of mountain or that Sinsunbong represented the mountain itself. Compared to this, Sinsundae was located in where distant panoramic views were overlooked. It was not necessarily to be in peak but in where with a great view like Taoist world. On the other hand, Sinsunbawi was located in where has fine scenery and great valley not so far from villages, which proved its name had been influenced by place feature not altitude. 6. Feature of rock with Sinsun related name is to comprise visual stability of worship object with close linkage to attitude of worshiper. Considering its deep connection with communicative method of worship object and worshiper, seemingly it was main factor to lead folk etymology of rocks with Sinsun related names. 7. Rock is an object with the greatest implication of Sinsun imagination and Sinsun rocks show most clearly the fact that Taoism, which used to be considered as inaccessible, had been actualized in a visual and realistic manner with the change of time.
Some biochemical features of varietal variation in seed protein and their implications for soybean breeding for high protein were pursued employing 86 soybean varieties of Korea, Japan, and the U.S.A. origins. Also, studied comparatively was the temporal pattern of protein components accumulation during seed development characteristic to the high protein variety. Seed protein content of the 86 soybean varieties varied 34.4 to 50.6%. Non-existence of variety having high content of both protein and oil, or high protein content with average oil content as well as high negative correlation between the content of protein and oil (r=-0.73$^{**}$) indicate strongly a great difficulty to breed high protein variety while conserving oil content. The total content of essential amino acids varied 32.82 to 36.63% and the total content of sulfur-containing amino acids varied 2.09 to 2.73% as tested for 12 varieties differing protein content from 40.0 to 50.6%. The content of methionine was positively correlated with the content of glutamic acid, which was the major amino acid (18.5%) in seed protein of soybean. In particular, the varieties Bongeui and Saikai #20 had high protein content as well as high content of sulfur-containing amino acids. The content of lysine was negatively correlated with that of isoleucine, but positively correlated with protein content. The content of alanine, valine or leucine was correlated positively with oil content. The seed protein of soybean was built with 12 to 16 components depending on variety as revealed on disc acrylamide gel electrophoresis. The 86 varieties were classified into 11 groups of characteristic electrophoretic pattern. The protein component of Rm=0.14(b) showed the greatest varietal variation among the components in their relative contents, and negative correlation with the content of the other components, while the protein component of Rm=0.06(a) had a significant, positive correlation with protein content. There was sequential phases of rapid decrease, slow increase and stay in the protein content during seed development. Shorter period and lower rate of decrease followed by longer period and higher rate of increase in protein content during seed development was of characteristic to high protein variety together with earlier and continuous development at higher rate of the protein component a. Considering the extremely low methionine content of the protein component a, breeding for high protein content may result in lower quality of soybean protein.n.
