Mechanical Characteristics of Carbon/Epoxy Composite for Aircraft Control System (항공기용 카본/에폭시 비행조종 장치의 기계적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • A design development test for carbon/epoxy composite laminates for an aircraft flight control system is performed. The design development test includes moisture absorbing test, tensile, compressive, bearing and lap shear tests. The moisture absorbing behavior for different fiber orientation angles is investigated and the changes in mechanical characteristics are compared. In the in-plane tensile test, the effect of damages such as scratches and impacts is studied. The bearing test is performed for different fastening types. The resulting design allowable stress and environmental load enhancement factor are used for the structural analysis and certification tests for the flight control system.

  • 철강재는 대량 생산이 가능하여 경제성이 뛰어나고 기계적 성질도 우수하여 다양한 산업 분야에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 철강재는 부식 환경에 취약하기 때문에 그 용도에 따라 다양한 내식성을 부여하는 표면처리를 적용하고 있다. 이러한 철강재에 대한 내식성 표면처리로는 용융아연도금(HDG)과 용융알루미늄도금(HDA)이 우수한 내식성과 다양한 특성으로 널리 사용되고 있으며 아연과 알루미늄을 접목시킨 갈바륨(GL)도금 또한 우수한 내식성 코팅으로 알려져 있다. 또한 최근에는 기존 용융아연도금에 알루미늄(Al) 과 마그네슘(Mg)을 첨가한 3원계 도금강판이 개발되어 기존 용융도금강판 대비 고내식 코팅으로 알려져 있으며 그 적용은 점차 확대되고 있는 추세이다. 일반적으로 이와 같은 강판소재의 내식성 평가에 대해서는 실제 사용할 환경에 폭로하여 비교-시험 하는 것이 가장 확실하고 신뢰도가 높은 방법이다. 그러나 이러한 방법은 경우에 따라 수년에서 수십년에 이르는 장시간이 소요된다. 그러므로 이 방법을 대체하기 위한 각종 가속적 부식 시험들이 널리 적용되고 있다. 즉, 그 목적이나 용도에 따라 염수분무(SST), 침지(Immersion) 및 전기화학적 분극(Polarization) 등 실내에서 부식 시험 하는 방법이 사용되고 있다. 한편, 이러한 부식 가속 시험들은 실제 외부에서 폭로 시험한 결과와의 상관성이 불명확한 경우가 많아 종종 해석에 어려움을 갖고 있는 실정이다. 또한 이 시험 방법들은 동일 재료를 시험하더라도 시험방법의 차이에 따라 부식요인이나 해석방법이 다르므로 인해 그 내식성 결과가 다르게 나타날 수 있다. 그 중 시험목적에 따라 전기화학적 분극 또는 임피던스 분광법(EIS)과 건조 및 습윤 등의 부식 환경 인자들을 적용한 복합부식시험(CCT) 방법은 근사한 대안으로 주목받고 있다. 하지만 이들 시험 또한 실제 부식 환경과는 여러 환경 및 요인들이 다르기 때문에 그 시험방법에 따라 목적하는 시험 결과가 상이하게 나타날 수 있어 해석-평가 하기에 종종 곤란을 갖는다. 이에 따라 최근에는 재현성이 우수하고 실제 부식 환경을 유사하게 모사할 수 있는 내식성 시험과 해석-평가에 대한 내용이 주요한 과제로 사료되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 내식성 코팅 강판소재들에 대하여 염수분무(SST), 복합부식(CCT), 갈바닉 시험, EIS 시험을 통하여 부식시험 종류 및 시험 환경, 코팅 소재 별 부식경향을 비교-분석하고자 하였다. 또한 이들 부식 진행과정에서는 미세구조관찰(SEM), 결정구조 분석(XRD) 및 원소조성 분석(EPMA)을 통해 다양한 조건에 따른 강판소재들의 부식경향을 비교-평가하고, 실제 환경과의 상관성 및 가속관계를 도출하고자 하였다.

  • This research illustrates how the simulation environment for operating the simultaneous man/unmanned aerial vehicle teaming is constructed. X-Plane program, HILS for the ducted fan aircraft (unmanned) and CTLS (manned aircraft) with communication devices are interfaced to simulate the basic co-operational flight. The X-plane and HILS can allow operators to experience the maned and unmanned aircraft operation in the airspace on the ground in turn they can perform various simulated missions in advance before the actual flight. For the test purpose, the data link between man/unmanned aircraft and ground control station is examined using C Band and UHF radio channels by the manned aircraft.

  • Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites have high specific stiffness and high specific strength. Therefore, they are increasingly being use, instead of conventional metallic materials in the aviation and automobile industries, where there is a strong demand for lightweight materials. In aircraft, the fuselage is exposed to severe conditions of high temperatures and high humidity. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the strength of CFRP composites under real conditions from the viewpoint of aircraft safety. In this study, CFRP specimens were immersed in distilled water at $75^{\circ}C$ for a long time. Then, tensile tests were performed on these specimens, and the fracture characteristics of the fractured surfaces were analyzed using SEM. A fatigue test was performed on specimens immersed for 300 days with R=0.1, and it was confirmed that the fatigue life deteriorated in immersed specimens compared to specimens that were not immersed.

  • 산불에 노출되는 경우 열충격으로 작용하는 패턴과 특성을 검토하여 가속열화시험에 반영하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 산불환경을 모의하여 복합열화시험을 실시하기위해 복합가속열화 챔버를 구축하였다. 온도는 주로 $200^{\circ}C$에서 최대 $1000^{\circ}C$까지 변화를 주면서 예비시험과 본시험 실하였다.

A Study on the Engineering Properties of Micro Fine Hybrid Silicate Grout Materials (마이크로 복합실리카 그라우트재의 공학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to determine the engineering properties of micro fine hybrid silicate grout materials that were developed recently. In this study, MSG-N type was mainly used as grout materials, and the chemical components, grain size distribution, mineral characteristics were analyzed. Moreover, the properties of active silica and ordinary portland cement acting as coagulating agent were analyzed and compared with each other. To determine the engineering properties, the bleeding test, viscosity test, coagulation test, examination with naked eye, photographing by using SEM, uniaxial compression test and in-situ application test for reclaimed ground were carried out. A series of test results showed that the strength of micro fine hybrid silicate grout materials was about twice that of ordinary sodium silicate grout materials, and alkali leakage decreased dramatically when MSG method was utilized. Especially, based on the evaluation of the application of the MSG method to field, this method would be very effective in reducing coefficient of permeability due to its excelent permeability.

Low Temperature Structural Tests of a Composite Wing with Room Temperature-Curing Adhesive Bond (상온접합 본딩이 있는 복합재 날개의 저온 구조시험)

  • This paper presents low temperature structural tests of a UAV wing which has room temperature-curing adhesive bond. The wing structure is made of carbon fiber reinforced composites, and the skins are bonded to the inner structures (such as ribs and spars) using room temperature-curing adhesive bond. Also, to verify damage tolerance design of the wing structure, barely visible impact damages are intentionally created in the critical areas. The attachment fittings of the wing are fixed in a specially designed chamber which can simulate the low temperature environments of the operating altitudes. The test load is applied by hydraulic actuators which are placed outside the chamber. The structural tests consist of strain survey tests and a durability test for 1-life fatigue load spectrum. During the tests, strains of major parts are measured by strain gauges and FBG sensors. The change of the initial impact damages is also monitored using piezoelectric sensors. The 1-life damage tolerance of the composite structure is verified by the structural tests under the simulated environments.

  • A highly reliable Video Transmission System (VTS) was developed in order to obtain both video and digital data simultaneously in the real time flight test situation of a flying vehicle. The VTS integrates GPS data, digital telemetry data and video signals into a compact digital data package which is compressed and processed by an MPEG-2 Encoder and a DVB-S modulator respectively. The DVB-S modulator is composed of a specially devised Forward Error Correction processor and base band QPSK modulator. The designed VTS was verified and proved for its required functioning and performance through separate flight tests using an airplane and missiles.

  • Recently, as global environmental issues for sustainable development, such as carbon neutrality, have emerged, disposal methods of glass fiber composites, a material of existing wind turbines, have become a problem. To solve this problem, in this study, 30kW wind turbine blades were manufactured using flax fiber-based composites, which are eco-friendly natural fiber composites that can replace existing glass fiber composites, and their suitability was evaluated. First, mechanical strength tests were conducted to verify the feasibility of using eco-friendly natural flax fiber composites as a wind turbine blade material, and as a result, better strength were confirmed compared to previous studies on the properties of flax fiber composites. In addition, the suitability was confirmed through a static strength performance evaluation test to measure the static strength of the flax fiber composite blade using the manufactured 30kW class flax fiber composite blade.

  • 복합 싸이클 시험 모니터링을 통해 NaCl, $CaCl_2$ 제설염 환경에서 11 % Cr, 17 % Cr 페라이트 스테인리스강의 외면부식특성을 조사하고자 하였다. 용액 내 NaCl 및 $CaCl_2$의 농도가 증가함에 따라 용액의 pH가 떨어졌으며, $CaCl_2$의 농도증가에 따른 산성화도가 NaCl에 비해 크게 나타났다. 염수분무-건조-습윤 과정의 반복으로 구성되어 있는 복합싸이클 시험 중 소재의 표면상태 변화를 모니터링 한 결과, 건조 과정 중에 공식이 시작되며, NaCl 환경의 경우엔 습윤과정 중에 $CaCl_2$ 환경의 경우엔 건조 중에 공식성장이 주로 이루어지는 것으로 확인되었다.
