Integrated interpretation of multi-geophysical data has been continuously used in terms that it has provided more confident information than the result from single-geophysical data. Especially, geostatistical integration has its own superiority that it is possible to deal with spatial characteristics as well as physical properties of survey data and the process of integration is clear. This paper further extends the previous work of geostatistical inversion for integrated interpretation. In this paper, we propose a new way of dealing with the case that the multi-geophysical data do not share the measurement range. According to the geostatistical kriging, the closer between the measurement points, the smaller kriging variance we get, and vice versa. We used this spatial properties as a weighting value to the process of geostatistical inversion for the geophysical data integration. An objective way to integrate different kinds of geophysical data measured at different ranges is provided with this algorithm.
Inversion result of geophysical data given as a block type was geostatistically simulated with borehole observation given as a point type and was applied to the rock classifying map. The geophysical data generally involved secondary information for the target material and were obtained for overall region. In contrast, borehole data provided direct information for the target material, but tended to be effective only for a narrow range of region and were dealt as a point type. Integrated simulation or kriging interpolation of these two different kinds of information required the covariance for point-point, point-block and block-block. Using the Bssim module included in SGeMS software, integrated result of geophysical data and borehole data were obtained. The results were then compared with the method of geostatistical inversion proposed by authors. Downscaling method used in this study showed relatively more flexible than the geostatistical inversion.

In this paper, experimental tests and theoretical studies were carried out to evaluate the tensile behavior of the sprayed FRP composite with chopped glass fiber. For this, a series of tensile strength tests with various strain rates were conducted on the specimens of the matrix and sprayed FRP composite. Sprayed FRP composite contained chopped glass fibers with fiber length of 15mm and a specific volume fraction of fibers of 25 %. An inverse simulation was conducted to simulate the strain rate sensitivity based on the present experimental data of the epoxy resin. The simulated viscosity value is adapted to the micromechanics-based viscoelastic damage model(Yang et al., 2012), and the overall tensile behavior of sprayed FRP composites is predicted. It was seen from the comparative study between present experimental data and predication results that the proposed methodology can be used to predict the viscoelastic behavior of the sprayed FRP composite.
Various away methods are required in the electrical resistivity survey in order to find anomalous zone reliably. Array methods are classified as several groups. Among these group, a curved survey along the fixed elevation is designed to increase the mobility of men and survey equipments at the rough terrain. Another method is performed at the survey using inclined, curved, and horizontal boreholes. A survey can also be conducted in an arbitrary location by measurements of potentials for a multi sources. The complex data acquired using various away methods are represented by a correct images reconstructed from the 3D inversion. The element division is applied to the region in which the boreholes are curved and inclined because of a spatial discrepancies between the coordinate of each electrode and the nodal point in a model. The resistivity images are obtained from a good agreement for the anomalous zones in open slope and in survey using an inclined borehole.
Geostatistical inverse approach using geophysical data was applied to indirectly make the RMR classification at points apart from boreholes. The geostatistical appoach was usually used to find optimized estimation which supports two or more different physical properties at unsampled points. However, in this study, an approach to solve inverse problem was proposed. The primary variable, RMR values obtained at known boreholes, is geostatistically simulated with many realization at pre-defined grid point according to the variogram model. The simulated values are sequentially compared with the physical property resulted from geophysical survey at an arbitrary grid point, and the most similar one is chosen. This process means that the spatial distribution of primary variable, RMR, is conformed well to the original pattern of the borehole observation, and ensure to fit the geophysical survey result to reflect the correlation between different physical properties.

The Sambo mine is located in Hae-je Myeon, Moo-an Gun, Chollanamdo, which consists of host gneiss and rhyolite possessing quartzite veins with other compositions such as gold, silver, and sublimated sulfur. The ore grade estimated from the core was 0.05~10.9g/t or less in gold and 0.05~389g/t or less in silver, indicating a partial mineralization. The purpose of this paper is to understand the subsurface structures and the distribution of mineralized bodies in the Sambo mine using a combined method of Schlumberger, Wenner, and Dipole-di-pole resistivity surveys on the surface and the resistivity tomography survey in boreholes. The result of three-dimensional resistivity inversion showed that the mineralized body is extended to 240m long in the N10°~20°E direction, with 30m wide and 80 m thick from the surface. The low resistivity zones (<1,000ohm-m) determined from the resistivity image were in good agreement with the mineralized bodies and weak zones identified from the logged cores.
The effectiveness of various electrode configurations in horizontal mappings and 1-D inversions of vertical sounding data for delineating 2-D structures was studied. Apparent resistivity values of three point, dipole-dipole, Wenner, and Schlumberger mappings were simulated for such structures as vertical dyke, tabular prism, buried vertical fault, ramp and complex structure by finite difference method (FDM) and they were compared with each other. Also 2-D cross sections for three structures obtained by interpolation of 1-D inverted sounding data in terms of three layers were compared for Schlumberger and Wenner arrays. On these cross sections, horizontal and vertical resistivity interfaces of the 2-D structures are revealed relatively clearly. Apparent resistivity curves of Schlumberger mapping show vertical resistivity discontinuities very well. On the whole, Schlumberger array is superior to the other arrays in electric sounding as well as mapping. This study clearly indicates that interpretations of 2-D structures based on 1-D inversion are possible.
Recently, multidimensional joint inversion of geophysical data based on fundamentally different physical properties has been actively studied. Joint inversion can provide a way to much more accurately image the subsurface structure. Through the joint inversion, furthermore, it is possible to directly estimate non-geophysical material properties from geophysical measurements. In this study, I derive the objective functions and normal equations of three different joint inversion approaches: one approach based on the structural similarity using cross-gradient, and the other two using the a priori information on the model parameters and the correlation between material properties. Since all the equations derived in this study are based on the same inversion method (smoothness constrained least-squares), it is possible to mix the joint inversion methods so as to produce a new joint inversion algorithm.

We developed a new algorithm for jointly inverting dc resistivity and seismic travel time tomography data based on the multiple constraints: (1) structural similarity based on cross-gradient, (2) correlation between two different material properties, and (3) a priori information on the material property distribution. Through the numerical experiments of surface dc resistivity and seismic refraction surveys, the performance of the proposed algorithm was demonstrated and the effects of different regularizations were analyzed.
