Development of Body-Weight-Support System for Walking Rehabilitation (보행 재활을 위한 신체 자중 보상용 모바일 로봇에 관한 연구)

  • As the population of elderly people and disabled people are increased, various demands for human welfare using robot system are raised. Especially autonomous rehabilitation system using robot could reduce the human effort while maintaining the its intrinsic efficacy. This study deals with mobile gait rehabilitation system which combined with BWS (Body Weight Support) for training of elderly and handicapped people who suffer the muscle force weakness of lower extremity. BWS which is designed by kinematic analysis of body lifting characteristics and walking guide system are integrated with main control system and wheeled platform. This mobile platform is operated by UCS (User Command System) and autonomous trajectory planning algorithm. Finally, through the EMG (Electromyography) signal measuring and its analysis for subject, performance and feasibility of developed system is verified.

End Edge Cogging Force Minimization according to the Distance between Armatures of Stationary Discontinuous Armature PMLSM with Concentrated Winding (전기자 분산배치 집중권 PMLSM의 전기자 간격에 따른 단부 코깅력 최소화)

  • Currently, The general transportation system arranges the armature on the full length of transportation lines. However, when this method is applied to the long distance transportation system, it causes an increase of material cost and manufacturing time. Thus, in order to resolve this problem, discontinuous arrangement method of the armature has been proposed. However, in the method of using stationary discontinuous armatures, mover can stop in the freewheeling section which is non-installations section when disturbance is generated and the mover can not be moved because armature control is impossible. Thus, the distance determination of armature is very important. Also, when the armature is arranged discontinuously the edge always exists due to the structure. Due to this edge, the cogging force is greatly generated during the entry and ejection of the mover to the armature. This cogging force causes thrust force ripple generating noise, vibration and decline of performance, it must be reduced. Therefore, in this paper, we examined the end edge cogging force generated by the stationary discontinuous armatures through 2-D numerical analysis using finite element method (FEM) and we figured out distance of armature for end edge cogging force minimization.

  • It comes into the spotlight as the new Blue Ocean in which the connected car industry in which the car and mobile communication technology is convergence. All sorts of infortainments services connecting with the portable electronic device(Smart phone, tablet PC, and MP3 player) and car are rapidly grown. The Connected car emphasizes the vehicle connectivity with the concept that the car has communication with the around on a real time basis and it provides the safety and expedience to the operator and using the thing of Internet (IoT) in the car and supports the application, presently, the entertainment service including the real-time Navigation, parking assistant function, not only the remote vehicle control and management service but also Email, multimedia streaming service, SNS and with the platform. Intelligent vehicle network is studied as the kind according to MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) for the safety operation of the cars of the road and improving the efficiency of the driving.

Design of Triple Loop Current Control for Auxiliary Power Unit of Fuel Cell Train having Grid Connected Inverter Function (계통 연계 기능을 갖는 연료전지 철도차량 보조전원장치의 삼중 루프 전류 제어기 설계)

  • This study proposes a triple-loop current control method for the auxiliary power unit of fuel cell trains. The auxiliary power unit of fuel cell trains has a grid-connected function when power is supplied to the utility grid. Moreover, the auxiliary power unit of trains has a 1500 V DC link voltage; thus, PWM frequency cannot be increased to a high frequency. Owing to this low PWM frequency condition, creating a triple-loop design is difficult. In this study, a triple-loop controller is developed for a capacitor voltage controller in standalone mode that operates as an auxiliary power supply for trains and for a grid current controller in grid control mode with an inner capacitor voltage controller. The voltage controller employs an inductor current controller inner loop. To overcome low PWM frequency, a design method for the bandwidth of the capacitor voltage controller considering the bandwidth of the inner inductor current controller is described. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proven using PSIM simulation.

  • DVC (Distributed Video Coding) techniques need feedback channel for parity bit control to achieve the good RD performances, however, this causes the DVC system to have high decoding latency. In order to implement in real time environments and to accelerate commercializations, many research works have been focusing on the development of fast video decoding algorithm. As one of the real time implementations, this paper deals with a novel DVC scheme suitable for some application areas where source statistics such as motion information can be provided to the encoder side from the decoder side. That is, this paper propose a fast distributed video decoding scheme to improve the decoding speed by using the feedback of motion information derived in SI generation. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method outperforms the conventional fast DVC decoding schemes.

  • A dynamic simulation of a turbo-shaft engine was performed for analysis of transient-state and engine-starting characteristics using the MATLAB/SIMULINKTM. The turbo-shaft engine was modelled based on thermodynamic and rotor dynamic relations. The analysis of engine starting characteristics was performed by monitoring the rate of the pressure, temperature and mechanical torque changes along the engine stations by the torque input generated from the accessary power unit and transmitted to the power turbine. The simulation of the transient-state characteristics of the engine was performed under fuel flow rate increase from the steady-state condition. For the future study, engine control unit will be added to the basic turbo-shaft engine model to enhance capability of engine performance simulation.

Development of bicycle device to strengthen safety (안전 강화를 위한 자전거 장치 개발)

  • With the growing number of people using bicycle, the number of bicycle accidents also has been increasing. It is said that bicycle accident can be reduced up to 11%~44% when riding a bicycle if LED light is used. The headlight of the bicycle makes exposure effect to the opposite side of bike rider while taillight makes exposure effect to the rear bike rider for improving safety. Bicycle safety device capable of displaying a change of direction by LED is implemented in this study in response to control button signal. This signal makes LED light which is installed in pedal and wheel of bicycle as a module type emitting or flickering during the fixed hour. Bicycle auxiliary device in pedal which is able to improve safety using LED when bikers are riding a bike at night is developed in this study. Bicycle safety device applying wireless communication technology will be expected alternative technology in the future to solve a social problem such as energy, environment, and safety.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the FSR sensor suit that controls walking assist device for paraplegic patients. The FSR sensor suit was to detect user's intent and patterns for walking by measuring pressure on the palm and the sole of user's foot. It consisted of four modules: sensing pressure from palm, changing modes and detecting pressure on the palm/at the wrist, sensing pressure from the soles of user's foot, and host module that transmit FSR data obtained from sensing modules to PC. Sensing modules were connected to sensing pads which detect analog signals obtained from the palm or the sole of foot. These collect signals from the target regions, convert analog signals into digital signals, and transmit the final signals to host module via zigbee modules. Finally, host modules transmit the signals to host PC via zigbee modules. The study findings showed that forces measured at the palm when using a stick reflected user's intent to walk and forces at the sole of the user's foot revealed signals detecting walking state.

영구자석형 14 GHz ECR 이온원 개념설계

  • ECR 이온원을 가볍고 작게 하면서 운전을 단순화함으로써 유지보수를 최소화하는 것은 특히 의료용 중입자 가속기에서 매우 중요한 조건 중 하나가 된다. 탄소 다가 이온을 만들어내기 위한 의료용 중입자가속기의 이온원으로 영구자석형 ECR 이온원을 개념 설계하였다. 영구자석은 이온원 입출구에서 강력한 축방향 자장을 만들기 위한 솔레노이드 자석 두 개와 반경방향 자장을 만들어 주기 6극 자석으로 구성된다. 또한 축방향 자장 흐름을 효과적으로 만들어주기 위한 두 개의 링 형 자석을 추가하여 자장의 강도를 높였다. 그러나 영구자석으로만 만들어진 자장 구조는 제작과 동시에 고정이 되어 수정이 불가능하기 때문에 제작 후 매우 제한적인 운전영역을 가질 뿐 만 아니라 최악의 경우에는 운전조건을 찾지 못하는 경우도 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 본 설계에서는 그림과 같이 두 개의 작은 보조 솔레노이드 전자석을 추가하여, 최소한의 운전조건으로 ECR 이온원의 공명영역을 결정하는 최소 자장의 구조뿐만 아니라 축방향 자장의 세기도 각각 능동적으로 제어할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 마이크로파원으로는 TWT (Traveling Wave Tube)를 사용하여 10 GHz에서 14 GHz 까지 다양한 주파수에서 운전이 가능할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 이러한 설계를 통하여 다양한 운전조건을 가질 수 있는 안정된 ECR 이온원을 부피가 작으면서도 유지보수를 최소화하는 구조로 만들 수 있으며, 본 이온원은 탄소 다가 이온을 만들어내기 위한 목적뿐 만 아니라 다양한 중이온을 작은 규모로 만들어내기 위한 장치에서도 사용될 수 있다.

A Design of Microstrip Directional Coupler with the Improved Directivity Characteristic (개선된 지향성을 갖는 마이크로스트립 방향성 결합기 설계)

  • In this paper, single, two, and three-section microstrip directional couplers are implemented for realizing the high directivity characteristics. The achievement of the high directivity with microstrip configuration is carried out by the distributed capacitor to decrease the even and odd mode phase difference. Capacitive compensation is performed by gap coupling of open stub formed in sub-coupled line. Therefore, insertion loss and power handling capability are not affected by the gap coupling. The proposed structure is easy to fabricate and incorporate another microwave device due to the planner microstrip. We designed and fabricated single, two, and three-section directional coupler with 20 ㏈ coupling. In spite of microstrip structure, the capacitive compensation structure shows 30 ㏈, 27 ㏈, and 25 ㏈ of directivity in single, two, and three-section directional couplers, respectively.
