  • This study analyzed research trends of assistive devices used to prevent and support disability and increase convenience for people with disabilities in their daily lives. As a result, related research has continuously increased, and the research area has expanded from survey research to service-related research and assistive device development research. In addition, with regard to the use of related terms, terms such as 'rehabilitation engineering' and 'rehabilitation assistive technology' were used in the early stages. Currently, terms such as 'assistive technology', 'assistive technology service', 'assistive technology device', and 'assistive device' have been mainly used.

A Study on Human-Centered IT Utilization in Caring for Elderly People Who Live Alone (독거노인 돌봄에 있어 인간중심의 IT 활용방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to find ways to utilize human-centered IT in caring for elderly people who live alone. Through focus group interviews with experts, this study investigated the problems with delivery system, and ethical issues. Problems such as lack of trust, supplier-centered care, and uniform service provision were derived as major problems in the delivery system. These findings indicate that IT should be used as an auxiliary means of face-to-face services and to be controllable and convenient. Issues such as "guaranteeing the right to self-determination," "protecting privacy," "sufficiently guaranteeing the right to know," and "encompassing blind spots" were raised as important ethical issues related to human-centered IT utilization. Based on the research results, this study presented the necessity of designing user-centered information technology and the necessity of developing ethical indicators for the use of human-centered technology.

  • In accordance to rapid aging of population, the accidents of elderly pedestrian and pedestrian safety are becoming very important issues. In terms of smartphone technologies, older people are increasingly looking for useful and friendly ICT services that which can add a value on their silver life. This paper introduced a new IT-based service for elderly walking assist using a smart-phone accompanied by a wearable watch. We describe the functional requirements and a systems architecture model with an interface between a smart-phone and wearable watch. Moreover, this study attempted to verify what services are needed and to estimate elderly pedestrians' WTP (willingness to pay) for IT-based walking assistance device. A total of 189 elderly pedestrians were randomly surveyed through face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire consisted of 3 categories: (1) questions pertaining to socio-economic status, (2) 12 questions regarding walking attitudes, and (3) a question to measure WTP. With this gathered data, factor analysis and path model estimating were conducted. The results identified the elderly user requirements and the use-value of new innovative products for IT-based walking assistance services by two groups(latent elderly and elderly). The modeling result shows that elderly's service preference would increase the possibilities for the commercialization of IT-based walking device with improving their walking safety.

  • With the rapid development of mobile services and the prevalence of education robots, robots are being developed to become a part of our lives and they can be utilized to assist teachers in giving education or learning to students. This standard has been proposed to define the degree of autonomy for education robot. The autonomy is an ability to perform a given work based on current state and sensor value without human intervention. The degree of autonomy is a scale indicating the extent of autonomy and it is determined in between 1 and 10 by considering the level of work and human intervention. It has been adapted as per standard and education robots can be utilized in teaching the students autonomously. Education robots can be beneficial in education and it is expected to contribute in assisting the teacher's education.

  • This study is about current operating system and development process if remote island route. 14 companies are providing safe transportation service for remote island residents with total 30 boots on Z7 routes. Each route transit analysis shows tint the number of passenger tends to increase every year. In order to enhance customer satisfaction, more constructive improvement is demanded, such as implementing operation evaluation on each charter service provider.1he result obtained from this study is to be utilized as basic document for remote island route development process in semi-long run basis.

  • 계통의 전압 불안정 현상은 다양한 무효전력 공급 설비를 통해 회복될 수 있다. 발전기를 통한 무효전력 공급은 유효전력 출력의 저감으로 이어질 수 있으며, 여기서 기회비용의 발생 가능성이 존재한다. 또한 상정사고가 발생하면 계통의 전압을 안정한 상태로 유지하기 위해 발전기의 적정 무효전력 예비력을 확보하는 것이 필요하다. 하지만 현재 국내에서는 발전사업자가 적정한 무효전력 예비력을 확보하고, 계통의 전압이 떨어지는 경우에 무효전력을 공급하여 안정된 전압을 유지하는 무효전력 보조서비스 제도가 없는 실정이다. 본 연구는 무효전력 보조서비스 제도 도입 준비의 일환으로 발전기의 무효전력 공급에 대한 부하 모선의 민감도를 분석하였다.

Efficient Replication Protocols for Mobile Agent Systems (이동 에이전트 시스템을 위한 효율적인 중복 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we propose a strategy to improve fault-tolerance and scalability of replicated services in mobile agent systems by applying an appropriate passive replication protocol for each replicated service according to whether the service is deterministic or non-deterministic. For this purpose, two passive replication protocols, PRPNS and PRPDS, are designed for non-deterministic and deterministic services respectively. They both allow visiting mobile agents to be forwarded to and execute their tasks on any node performing a service agent, not necessarily the primary agent. Especially, in the protocol PRPDS, after a backup service agent has received each mobile agent request and obtained its delivery sequence number from the primary service agent, the backup is responsible for processing the request and coordinating with the other replica service agents. Therefore, our strategy using the two proposed protocols can promise high scalability of replicated services a large number of mobile agents attempt to access in mobile agent systems. Our simulation results show that the proposed strategy performs much better than the one using only the traditional passive replication protocol.

  • This paper presents the design of a fast auxiliary channel bus for DisplayPort 1.2 interface. The fast auxiliary channel supports Manchester transactions at 1Mbps and fast auxiliary transactions at 780Mbps. The Manchester transaction is used for managing the main link and auxiliary channel and the fast auxiliary transaction is for data transfer via the auxiliary channel. Simplified serial bus architecture is proposed to be implemented in fast auxiliary channel. The fast auxiliary channel transmitter and receiver are implemented with 7,648 LUTs and 6,020 slice register synthesized in Xilinx Vertex4 FPGA and can be operated at 72MHz to support 720Mbps.

  • 과거에는 로봇이 노동 대체인력의 산업용으로 사용되어져 왔으나, 현재는 인간 친화형 고부가가치 서비스 지능형 로봇으로 로봇산업의 패러다임이 전환되고 있다. 지능형 로봇의 개발은 저출산 고령화의 부작용인 노동력 감소와 소외 약자에 대한 Care 서비스 수요증대에 크게 해석할 것이다. 이러한 지능형 로봇의 응용 및 활용방안으로 병원에서의 의료용 서비스 로봇시스템 개발이 급증하고 있다. 이러한 의료용 로봇은 수술시 의사를 보조해 절개위치 유도, 절단작업을 수행하는 수술용 로봇과 위장이나 대장 내부를 진단하는 내시경 로봇, 재활치료를 돕는 재활보조로봇 등이 개발되고 있으나, 병원 내에서 신속한 진단 및 진료를 위한 서비스 로봇은 국내에 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 의사가 현장에 없거나 바쁜 상황에서도 환자와 원격으로 진단 진료를 가능하게 함으로써 응급상황에 대한 긴급 조치나, 질 높은 서비스를 제공하는데 큰 도움을 주기 위한 원격 진료용 서비스 로봇을 개발하였다.

  • 지능형 서비스 로봇은 인공지능 및 센서인터페이스 등의 다양한 기능과 IT기술의 접목으로 우리의 생활을 윤택하게 해줄 수 있는 인간 지향적인 성격으로 발전하고 있다. 또한 많은 분야에서 새로운 서비스 개발을 통해서 좀더 인간의 생활에 가까이 접근되어 지고 있다. 한편 국내 초등학교에서 초등교사는 학생 수의 과다로 능동적이기 보다는 수동적인 수업을 하고 있어서 학습 효율성이나 능률성이 떨어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 발전하고 있는 서비스 로봇 기술로 능동적인 수업형태와 자율적이고 창의적인 학습 및 교육서비스를 제공할 수 있는 교사도우미 로봇을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 로봇은 기존의 지능형 서비스 로봇과 ICT(Information & Communication Technology) 교육을 접목할 수 있는 로봇의 제반 환경의 구성과 더불어 교육 현장에 알맞도록 HRI 및 시나리오를 기반으로 개발되었고, 로봇의 주요기능은 교사지원, 학습보조, 수업지원 등으로 사전 설문조사를 통하여 필요성이 높은 기능을 중심으로 설정되었다. 개발된 초등학교 지원 로봇은 2006년 10월부터 대전지능로봇산업화센터에서 초등학교 학생을 대상으로 시범수업을 준비하고 있고, 2007년도 중반에는 초등학교에서 시범사업을 추진할 예정이다.
