Risk Rating Process of Cyber Security Threats in NPP I&C (원전 계측제어시스템 사이버보안 위험도 산정 프로세스)

  • SInce 2000, Instrumentation and Control(I&C) systems of Nuclear Power Plant(NPP) based on analog technology began to be applied to the digital technology. NPPs under construction in the country with domestic APR1400 I&C system, most devices were digitalized. Cyber security of NPP I&C systems has emerged as an important issue because digital devices compared to the existing analog equipment are vulnerable to cyber attacks. In this paper, We proposed the risk rating process of cyber security threats in NPP I&C system and applied the proposed process to the Reactor Protection System(RPS) developed through Korea Nuclear Instrumentation & Control System(KINCS) project for evaluating the risk of cyber security threats.

  • With the growth of the IoT, security is a growing concern. Things the risk of IoT security has been constantly raised, and there have been many cases of hacking. As a result, there is a growing concern and scale about security, but there is a lack of interest and research on the message protocols between Iot devices. With the development of the IoT, the importance of low-power, lightweight and accurate message delivery will become more important and more advanced message protocols will be needed. In this paper, it is aimed to construct the system for communication between client and server of MQTT and CoAP with Confirmative option, which are most used among IoT message protocols and compare the message reliability of each communication protocol to check efficiency.

  • Recent changes in the information security environment have led to persistent attacks on intelligent assets such as cyber security breaches, leakage of confidential information, and global security threats. Since existing information security systems are not adequate for Advanced Persistent Threat; APT attacks, bypassing attacks, and attacks on encryption packets, therefore, continuous monitoring is required to detect and protect against such attacks. Accordingly, this paper suggests an operation plan for managing an information security system to block the attack routes of advanced persistent threats. This is achieved with identifying the valuable assets for prevention control by establishing information control policies through analyzing the vulnerability and risks to remove potential hazard, as well as constructing detection control through controlling access to servers and conducting surveillance on encrypted communication, and enabling intelligent violation of response by having corrective control through packet tagging, platform security, system backups, and recovery.

  • In the modern world, where the number of people moving from country to country is sharply increasing, domestic and international driver's licenses are easily fabricated or forged, and distinguishing if a driver's license is legitimate or not is often a difficult task. Furthermore, this would require different countries to mutually share and administer the driving records of individuals, making it a much more complex task (Added to it is the complicated matter of countries having to mutually share and administer the driving records of individuals.) However, the authenticity and security of a driver's license has become the first priority since driver's licenses are also used as identification cards in most countries, thus requiring measures to prevent inappropriate uses arising from theft and embezzlement. In this paper, we propose the mutual authentication mechanism which, can provide enhanced security and efficient operation that is administration of personal information contained within ISO Compliant Driving licence(IDL).

  • Along with the rapid development of the wireless network (Wireless Network) technology for secure wireless communications, security problems have emerged as an important issue. In order to operate the wireless network intrusion detection system detects the agent installed on each wireless node should be. Ad-hoc network structures scattered in the AP over a wireless network without the node is a structure that makes it possible to communicate to connect. Intrusion detection agent to be installed on the node, and the corresponding energy consumption occurs when the survival time is reduced. On a node that can monitor a lot of traffic in order to increase the effect of intrusion detection, an intrusion detection agent should be placed. Therefore, in this paper, by taking advantage of the structure of Ad-hoc wireless network, considering the maximum living time of the network, while at the same time, the effectiveness of intrusion detection and intrusion detection by proposing a plan for installing the agent. Also improve the system performance by reducing the network load on each network, a system designed for data aggregation to reduce data redundancy, network energy consumption by reducing.

  • Recently, The cloud computing technology is emerging as an important issue in the world, and In technology and services, has attracted much attention. Cloud services have evolved from simple forms to complex forms(using multiple mobile devices and communication services(Kakao talk, Facebook, etc.). In particular, as the cloud is especially facilitated the collection of user information, it can now be analyzed with the user's taste and preference. And many of the benefits of the cloud became increasingly closely with our lives. However, the positive aspects of cloud computing unlike the includes several vulnerabilities. For this reason, the Hacking techniques according to the evolution of a variety of attacks and damages is expected. Therefore, this paper will be analyzed through case studies of attack and vulnerability to the privacy threats factors of the cloud computing services. and In the future, this is expected to be utilized as a basis for the Privacy security and Response.

A Study on Hierarchical Structure and Blockchain-based Node Authentication Mechanism in MANET (MANET에서 계층적 구조와 블록체인 기반 노드 인증 기법에 관한 연구)

  • MANET has many security vulnerabilities because it consists of only mobile nodes using wireless. In particular, it is a very important factor determining network performance that excludes the participation of malicious nodes through accurate reliability measurements and authentication of nodes participating in the network. In this paper, we proposed a technique applied with blockchain technology in order to prevent forgery of authentication information for nodes participating in the network. And, an area-based hierarchical structure was applied to increase the efficiency of authentication for nodes and apply the optimal technique of block generation and exchange protocol. In addition, four data payloads were added to the block header in order to add authentication information for nodes in block. To improve the reliability by applying the blockchain technique to the hop-by-hop data transfer method between mobile nodes, blockchain exchange protocol through transaction creation, block packaging and verification processes were implemented. We performed the comparative experiment with the existing methods to evaluate the performance of the proposed method and confirmed the excellent performance by the experiment results.

Flexible Crypto System for IoT and Cloud Service (IoT와 클라우드 서비스를 위한 유연한 암호화 시스템)

  • As various IoT devices appear recently, Cloud Services such as DropBox, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure Storage, etc are widely use for data sharing across the devices. Although, cryptographic algorithms like AES is prevalently used for data security, there is no mechanisms to allow selectively and flexibly use wider spectrum of lightweight cryptographic algorithms such as LEA, SEED, ARIA. With this, IoT devices with lower computation power and limited battery life will suffer from overly expensive workload and cryptographic operations are slower than what is enough. In this paper, we designed and implemented a CloudGate that allows client programs of those cloud services to flexibly select a cryptographic algorithms depending on the required security level. By selectively using LEA lightweight algorithms, we could achieve the cryptographic operations could be maximum 1.8 faster and more efficient than using AES.

  • In general, automatic access control management system using smart door-lock must be always exposed to security vulnerability during wireless communication based on Bluetooth. In particular, important information such as a secrete key can be exposed to the attacker when the authentication protocol has been operating in the wireless section. Therefore important information exchanged in the radio section needs to be properly encrypted. In order to analyze security vulnerability for automatic access control management system of public facilities such as subway vent, GNU Radio platform and HackRF device will be considered and experimented. Proposed experimental system to perform software based power analysis attack could be very effectively applied. As a result, important information such as packet type, CRC, length of data, and data value can be easily decoded from wireless packet obtained from HackRF device on GNU Radio platform. Constructed experimental system will be applied to avoid some security problems.

  • The infrastructure of the country and society is connected to cyberspace. Malicious codes that steal financial information from websites such as plastic surgeons, dentists, and hospitals that are confirmed as IP in Daegu South Korea area are spreading In particular, financial information is an important privacy target. Takeover of financial information leads to personal financial loss. In this paper, we analyze the recent pharming malicious code that takes financial information. Attack files with social engineering methods are spread as executables in the banner, disguised as downloaders. When the user selects the banner, the attack file infects the PC with malicious code to the user. The infected PC takes users to the farming site and seizes financial information and personal security card information. The fraudulent financial information causes a financial loss to the user. The research in this paper will contribute to secure financial security.
