Corresponding to the change of the environment of oriental medicine, oriental medicine hospital in today is adjusting between the specific element of oriental medicine and the systematic application of occidental medicine hospital. According to this situation, this study aims to represent the material of the architectural planning of the the oriental medicine hospital. As its method, including the concept of the cooperative examination and treatment between oriental and occidental medicine hospital, the circulation of the patient and staff, and the type of the plane figure of the outpatient department are estimated.

A ward is a place where the patients are living and staying for 80% of the all those days in the hospital. So the Ward's conditions are very important to them. We group a ward's conditions in two classes, one in the physical condition ; area, noise, temperature etc. and the others is the physical condition ; privacy, field. According to the analysis, the patients had beed under a mental stress and they did negative action, by the ward's environmental conditions. This study find influence of the ward's environmental conditions with violate each patients privacy using multi-bedroom's restroom. So we suggest that the ideal multi-bedroom's restroom, solve the they got the problems.

The purpose of this study is to find out the design guideline for women's hospital focusing on the patient needs. This study is performed the literature review of the performance evaluation & spatial satisfaction. And then, the spatial characteristics of selected women's hospitals, which were recently built in Korea, were analyzed. This study is suggested in the spatial satisfaction evaluation model in order to the spatial evaluation performance elements of the patient needs. The evaluation model of space efficiency derived from this study is expected to be used for the actual guide to architecture of women's hospitals as substantial materials. Finally, the model is used to for the planning & design for the future women's hospital.

Terminal cancer patients in Korea have increased due to the development of medical technology and the structural change of diseases resulted from life quality improvement. Following this trend, many hospitals are making efforts, such as renovating hospice wards, but architectural criteria are not sufficiently suggested for specialized hospice wards. The purpose of this study is to present the research data to improve the quality of hospice ward in general hospital. Data collecting skills such as drawing documents analysis, interviews, observation were used to examine the condition of hospice ward. And, case study method was used to generate the design data which can be used for the appropriate spatial composition and the area calculation.

The medicine development and upwardly raised standard of living brings out the increased dental needs at dental hospital OPD. The dental college hospital, follows up the raised dental needs, was subdivided by specialized dental office. And now a specialized dental office needs co-work with the other specialized dental office for special dental illness and treatment. The purpose of this study is to provide a proper area distribution and location of each specialized dental office and relationship between dental office, clinic and other department by analyzing the space, area and characteristics of dental hospital OPD. The results could be used for helping its users, of patients and dentists.

It is the well-documented fact that most patients experience considerable stress in hospital. Stress is also a problem for families of patients, visitors and for hospital staffs. To promote wellness. It is fundamentally important that hospital be designed to foster copying with stress. By Literature review, this study presents stressors of patients, families, hospital staffs and various healing design elements. And then, it cross-checks the relations between stress-reducing conditions and healing design elements. Finally, this presents the healing design conditions for each stress-reducing conditions of patients, families and staffs.

Nurses play a great role in the nursing unit and their behaviour should be evaluated in order to find user needs in terms of ward design of general hospital. This study aims to investigate the ways in which nurses activities and traffic occur in real behaviour setting of five general hospitals. For that purpose, intensive field survey was undertook to measure the nurses' attitudes and their activities were observed in the day time for 8 hours.

This study was proceeded as follows. Firstly, the plan type of the ward of korean hospitals does not correspond to team nursing method, but that contains this. So, therefore there are many problems that are inefficiency, unhumane nursing and so forth. To expel these, the method of team nursing in existing hospitals was checked out and compared to that of foreign hospitals. The new type of plan of ward was accentuated to be accepted in the process of designing for team nursing. Secondly, the concept of designing ward is progressing to the patient-centered philosophy. And so, the demands of inpatients and their lifestyle in ward are significant. Therefore, inpatients were interviewed and their answers were analized and their behavior was surveyed in bahavioral maps and analized. Their demands and lifestyle are accentuated to be accepted in the process of designing wards.

This study proposes the basic data on the waiting space in general hospital through to analysis the relationship between behaviors and seat arrangements in the waiting space. Analyzing the relationship between physical conditions and activities in the waiting space, this study is to awaken user to the influence environment, to suggest the planning guideline for the waiting space in the general hospital. Therefore, by observation over the waiting space in the general hospital, the realities, theories and problems can be found in accordance with the hospital planning throughly.

Facing the aging society in Korea, the necessity of the facility for the elderly is arising as a substitute to cut down the cost and to provide suitable and skillful medical services for the aged and chronical. Among there, health care facilities for the elderly with dementia are considered a essential facility. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare the guidelines for planning and design of the facility. On the bases of survey and analysis, the basic data for planning and design the hospital for the elderly with dementia has been proposed.
