Purpose : Recurrent otitis media (ROM) is usually defined as ${\geq}$3 distinct and well-documented episodes within 6 months or ${\geq}$4 episodes within 12 months. ROM is sufficiently important to warrant consideration of chemoprophylaxis, tympanostomy tube placement. There also is evidence that children with ROM are at risk for both hearing loss and speech delay. However, studies of ROM have been notably insufficient. In addition, even though environmental, racial, and sociocultural differences can affect risk factors, few studies have been conducted with regard to recurrent otitis media in Korea. Methods : This study was conducted from July 2009 to January 2010 with infants and children who were younger than 60 months old, who visited the out-patient clinics at Han-Il General Hospital and Kyunghee University Hospital. Data were collected by interview using a pre-formed sheet. Among a total of 892 infants and children, 457 were excluded, and the remaining 435 were allocated to 104 with ROM and 331 as a control group. Results : Attendance at daycare centers (P<0.001, OR=2.85), allergic rhinitis (P=0.026, OR=2.32), past history of bronchiolitis (P=0.003, OR=2.33), and low socioeconomic status (P=0.005, OR=2.00) were found to have a close significant correlation with ROM. Risk factors such as sex, having a sibling, breast-feeding, use of pacifiers, atopy, pneumococcal vaccination, influenza vaccination, smoking of parents, and indoor smoking are not relevant. Conclusion : Attendance at daycare centers, allergic rhinitis, past history of bronchiolitis, and low socioeconomic status have been identified as risk factors for ROM.
The purpose of this study is to develop video exercise education for patients with shoulder-joint and evaluate the effects on range of motion, pain and quality of life. This study was conducted in 30 experimental groups and 26 control groups among shoulder-joint patients who were admitted to orthopedic outpatient clinics at university hospitals in G city from January to June 2020. For data analysis, SPSS was used to analyze the general characteristics of the two groups and the pre-homogeneity test for the dependent variables by 𝑥2-test and t-test. As a result of the study, the subject's pre-post score change was found to have a significant difference in the degree of internal rotation of the range of motion and pain score, but there was no significant difference in the flexion, abduction degree of the range of motion and quality of life. In this study, clinical application of video education can be suggested as a way to improve nursing practice as it saves time spent on patient education of nurses not only in outpatients but also in wards.

Our study was carried out to develop the severity-adjustment model for length of stay in hospital for community-acquired pneumonia so that we analysed the factors on the variation in length of stay(LOS). The subjects were 5,353 community-acquired pneumonia inpatients of the Korean National Hospital Discharge In-depth Injury Survey data from 2004 through 2006. The data were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA and the severity-adjustment model was developed using data mining technique. There are differences according to gender, age, type of insurance, type of admission, but there is no difference of whether patients died in hospital. After yielding the standardized value of the difference between crude and expected length of stay, we analysed the variation of length of stay for community-acquired pneumonia. There was variation of LOS in regional differences and insurance type, though there was no variation according whether patients receive their care in their residences. The variation of length of stay controlling the case mix or severity of illness can be explained the factors of provider. This supply factors in LOS variations should be more studied for individual practice style or patient management practices and healthcare resources or environment. We expect that the severity-adjustment model using administrative databases should be more adapted in other diseases in practical.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of nursing information on the level of need fulfillment and anxiety of the emergency patient's family members. The quasi-experimental study was designed using a noneqivalent control group non-synchronized design. During the first period, 30 subjects were assigned to the control group and 25 to the experimental group at a late period. The experimental group was provided with nursing information via guide booklet designed by the researcher. The control group received only routine care. Data was collected from January 31 to April 16 in 1996 at the K hospital in Taegu and analysed by chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation with SAS program. The instruments used for this study were the Family Needs Scale developed by Jung and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory developed by Spielberger. The results of this study were summarized as follows : 1. The first hypothesis that the family members who received nursing information will have greater need fulfillment than family members who did not receive nursing information was supported. 2. The second hypothesis that the family members who received nursing information will have lower anxiety level than family members who did not receive nursing information was not supported. 3. The third hypothesis that the more the need of family member of emergency patient was met, the lower the anxiety level, was not supported. In conclusion, it was proved that nursing information about the emergency room provides family members with more need fulfillment, but did not decrease the anxiety level.
Between October 2019 and January 2020, 120EA of a syringe that was equipped with a 3-way injection material and administered 99mTc labeled compound among inpatients for SPECT examination at the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Daegu P Hospital. When using a plastic syringe, the average dosing rate according to the number of dilutions was 99mTc-ECD the highest at 90.87±11.08, and 99mTc-DMSA the lowest at 75.28±7.43. The average dose rate according to the number of dilutions was the highest at 93.58±7.96, and the lowest at 99mTc-DMSA at 91.60±6.07. The independent sample t-test showed whether the difference between the 99mTc-DMSA plastic syringe and the normjek syringe was statistically significant(p<0.01). The 99mTc-DMSA used for radiopharmaceuticals is a radiopharmaceutical that is mainly used for pediatric patients, and it is considered that it is necessary to use a normjek syringe rather than a general plastic syringe because the precise dosage is important.

Objective: This study examined the caregiver burden, depressive symptoms, and mental-related quality of life of 226 caregivers of stroke patients, who had been hospitalized in 7 general hospitals located in Cheongju and Daejeon Metropolitan city. Methods: Data were collected from August 5, 2014 to October 5, 2014 and a structured self-administered questionnaire was used. The results were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA for different comparisons of the mental related quality of life in the sociodemographic characteristics, care-related characteristics, health-related behavioral characteristics, caregiver burden, and depressive symptoms. Hierarchical multiple regression was conducted to determine the explanatory power of the independent variables on the dependent variables, with the variables showing significant differences in univariate analysis as independent variables. Results: According to the results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the relevant factors that influenced the mental-related quality of life were the relationship with a patient, burden by 'care', burden by sacrifice of 'personal life', and depressive symptoms. Conclusion: To enhance health-related quality of life, not only is a systematic complement on such factors needed, but the development and implementation of an intervention program to the caregiver burden and depressive symptoms is also urgently required.

This study was conducted to identify the relevance between postpartum women'sfatigue and breast-feeding rate in accordance with the types of rooming-in care at one hospital in Seoul. The data were collected by using a self-report questionnaire between June and July of 2014. All subjects were full-time rooming-in group, with 64 mothers and part time rooming-in group, 43 mothers. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 windows program. The result supported Hypothesis 1, in which the number of full-time rooming-in group's daily breast-feeding would out number that of part time rooming-in group. Hypothesis 2, on the other hand, which was that the breast-feeding rate would differ between the full-time rooming-in and the part-time rooming-in groups was overruled. Hypothesis 3, in which the fatigue of the full-time rooming-in group would be higher than the part-time rooming-in group was supported. Hypothesis 4, in which postpartum women'sfatigue would relate to breast-feeding rate during hospitalization period was overruled. Thus, based on this research, it is suggested that rather than collectively running the full-time rooming-in care, part-time rooming-in care that is individualized with considerations to the conditions of the mothers and new-born should be considered.

Illuminance of MRI room was the lowest value measured in accordance with the 30.5 lux, the maximum value is 601.3 lux, mean was measured by a variety of 177.86 lux. Luminance and illuminance of the MRI room and monitor is found to have statistically significant difference (p < .05). In conclusion, refer to the recommended standard of MRI and room monitor luminance and illuminance and to create an optimal environment.
Purpose: The present study aims at researching the subjective satisfaction of patients who have experienced both conventional impression taking and digital impression taking to measure the possibility of wide clinical application of digital impression. Materials and methods: The study surveyed 170 adult patients over the age of 20, between October 2015 and April 2016, who voluntarily consented to participation and who experienced both conventional impression and digital impression at five dental hospitals that use intraoral digital impression. A total of 128 surveys were used for data analysis, involving frequency analysis, multiple response frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and contingency table analysis, with the significance level set at 0.05. Results: Responses on the reason for taking impressions using the digital method appeared in the order of 'for implant treatment' (43.8%), 'for crown treatment' (30.5%), and 'for inlay treatment' (15.6%). Patients satisfaction was higher for digital impression taking than conventional impression taking (P<.05). As the preferred choice of impression, digital impression (60.2%) was higher than conventional impression (11.7%). Responses on the reason for choosing digital impression taking appeared in the order of 'no vomiting reflex' (35.1%), 'reliability of 3D digital scanning' (33.8%), and 'short time' (33.8%). Conclusion: The patients preferred digital impression taking to conventional impression taking in terms of satisfaction.

This study aims to investigate the effects of aroma inhalation on pain, anxiety, and heart rate variability of elderly women with total knee arthroplasty (TKA) during continuous passive motion (CPM) exercise. Equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were randomized to intervention group (n=26) or control group (n=27). Participants inhaled aroma or distilled water for 5 minutes before CPM exercise and for 40 minutes during CPM exercise on 3 consecutive days. Pain NRS, number of painkiller used, anxiety NRS, blood pressure, and heart rate variability (HRV) were measured before and after intervention. Pain NRS, anxiety NRS, blood pressure in experimental group were significantly lower than those of control group. All indices of HRV were significantly different between the two groups. Based on these results, it can be concluded that aroma inhalation was effective in decreasing pain and anxiety and changing HRV among elderly women with TKA during CPM exercise.
