  • This study presents how Seoul National University Hospital, one of the representative hospitals in Korea, has been developed and changed from the opening to the present. It tried to find a trend in Korea hospital development through the investigation of Seoul National University Hospital, with the purpose of presenting a basic source of reference to hospital architecture planning.

  • 본 연구는 경제성장과 함께 빠르게 발전하고 있는 중국의료시설의 최근 의료 환경과 의료시설의 변화 동향을 분석한 것으로 병원의 디자인, 병동 유니트 계획, 의료자원의 지역적 불균형과 건축기준 등 다각도의 변화 동향을 사진, 도면과 함께 제시하였으며, 중국 의료시설의 문제점과 과제를 정리하였다. 중국의 의료시설은 현재 급속한 성장기에 놓여 있으며, 그 과정에서 의료자원의 대도시 집중과 병원의 대형화 현상으로 지역적 의료자원의 불균형 문제가 나타나고 있고, 환자부족으로 중소병원의 경영문제가 심각한 반면, 대규모 병원은 환자집중으로 긴 대기시간과 혼잡함 등의 문제가 나타나고 있다. 또한 대규모병원과 중소병원 간 의료자원의 과다한 중복으로 비효율성 문제가 지적되고 있어 합리적인 경제기반에 기초한 효율적인 의료시설과 건물시스템을 어떻게 개발할 것인가 하는 점이 중국 의료시설의 큰 과제중의 하나가 되고 있다.

  • Today, medical system faces to two major flows of change. The first one changes to small-to-middle size special hospital from large size general hospital. The another one changes to the patient-focused hospital. In these two flows of change, women's hospital is a typical small-to-middle size special hospital. In Korea, several studies on the architectural planning of delivery-part designed with recent trends in large size general hospital have done with focusing on LDR type or LDR/P type, but few studies on the architectural planning of the recent trends in women's hospitals. Therefore, this study aims to propose improve way after analysis the developing circumstances and problems on the Architectural planning on women's hospital by case studies on Women's hospital builded recently in Korea.

  • The Korean hospitals have been changed a lot from 1970's to 1990's, not only in their space allocation but also in their functions. These changes were affected by the medical development, social atmosphere, increasing population, needs of medical demands, and so on. In this study, we compared net area allocation involve in these affect of hospitals which were built in 1970's, 80's, and 90's, and through this comparison, we analyzed developing tendencies of hospitals. In doing so, we tried to provide basic research data for planning of new hospital buildings.

  • The demands on hospital facilities are increasing because of the higher living standard and the advanced medical technology. The user-oriented concept of LDR/P(Labor, Delivery, Recovery/Postpartum), which reflects the current demand, were proposed in the delivery center and was recently introduced to Korea. This study aims to represent the data base for architectural planning and the design of the LDR/P in delivery center reflecting the domestic situation. The case study was performed to investigate the change of space and to consider the architectural characteristics of LDR system in delivery center.

A Study about the Historical Development-process of the Modern Healthcare Facilities in Korea, 1876~1945 year (1876~1945년 한국 근대보건의료시설의 역사적 발전과정에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to trace the historical background and to describe the architectural issues of the healthcare facilities in 1876~1945 years. Between 1876~1895 yr, the first western hospital "Jejung-Won" was built in Seoul by the Korean Gov. with the help of the American Missionary Dr. Allen. The special clinic for curing smallpox, Udu-Kuk was built nationally and the hospitals for infection disease were built in the same periods. In the next stage 1896~1905, 1905~1910 yr, there were many type of facilities such as military hospital, oriental medicine hospital, public hospital for poor people, clinic or hospital for Mission. After being conquered by Japan in 1910~1945, the Japan Healthcare System was directly transferred into Korean system and the healthcare facilities was built by japanese architect. At that time, the Japan healthcare system had been constructed after following the modern European healthcare system. Most healthcare facilities in the age of Japanese imperialist was handed over to the Korean Government in 1950~1960 yr after world war II.
