Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a rapid and accurate analytical method for determining the composition of agricultural products and feeds. An important merit of the NIRS analytical system is consistent predictions across instruments. However, proper calibration is the most important factor for a NIRS analytical system. Forty samples were obtained from Kyonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, and used to develop calibrations for crude protein content and crude oil content. Calibrations equations were developed using multiple linear regression (MLR). Accuracy and precision of NIRS predictions were adequate for quality measurement for the two constituents in kidney bean seed. In calibration sample sets (N=30), multiple correlation coefficient between NIR and lab measurements is 0.90 for seed, 0.97 for powder in seed protein concentration and 0.40 for seed and 0.92 for powder in seed oil concentration, respectively. It is concluded that NIRS method is suitable for the determination of seed composition in whole kidney bean.
The realization and the performance of ICP source are strongly affected by its electrical impedance and the electric/magnetic field distribution. The ICP source impedance is determined by the antenna impedance and the plasma one. It is preferred to keep the imaginary impedance between -100 ohm to 100 ohm, since it should be avoided the high voltage formation on the antenna and abrupt impedance variation during the thin film process. The plasma uniformity is affected by the electric and magnetic field which is formed by the antenna current and voltage. The influence of azimuthal symmetry are shown by the electromagnetic simulation and the measurement result of plasma density. The radial uniformity can be controlled by locating the concentric antennas which have different diameters. The power distribution ratio and its control method are presented in the case of parallel antenna connections.
During the loading/offloading operation of a liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) that is moored in a side-by-side configuration with an offshore plant, sloshing that occurs due to the partially filled LNG tank and the interactive effect between the two floating bodies are important factors that affect safety and operability. Therefore, a time-domain software program, called CHARM3D, was developed to consider the interactions between sloshing and the motion of a floating body, as well as the interactions between multiple bodies using the potential-viscous hybrid method. For the simulation of a floating body in the time domain, hydrodynamic coefficients and wave forces were calculated in the frequency domain using the 3D radiation/diffraction panel program based on potential theory. The calculated values were used for the simulation of a floating body in the time domain by convolution integrals. The liquid sloshing in the inner tanks is solved by the 3D-FDM Navier-Stokes solver that includes the consideration of free-surface non-linearity through the SURF scheme. The computed sloshing forces and moments were fed into the time integration of the ship's motion, and the updated motion was, in turn, used as the excitation force for liquid sloshing, which is repeated for the ensuing time steps. For comparison, a sloshing motion coupled analysis program based on linear potential theory in the frequency domain was developed. The computer programs that were developed were applied to the side-by-side offloading operation between the offshore plant and the LNGC. The frequency-domain results reproduced the coupling effects qualitatively, but, in general, the peaks were over-predicted compared to experimental and time-domain results. The interactive effects between the sloshing liquid and the motion of the vessel can be intensified further in the case of multiple floating bodies.
Genetic programming (GP) has been combined with quantum mechanical perturbation theory to make a new algorithm to construct mathematical models and perform predictions for chaotic time series from real world. Procedural similarities between time series modeling and perturbation theory to solve quantum mechanical wave equations are discussed, and the exemplary GP approach for implementing them is proposed. The approach is based on multiple populations and uses orthogonal functions for GP function set. GP is applied to original time series to get the first mathematical model. Numerical values of the model are subtracted from the original time series data to form a residual time series which is again subject to GP modeling procedure. The process is repeated until predetermined terminating conditions are met. The algorithm has been successfully applied to construct highly effective mathematical models for many real world chaotic time series. Comparisons with other methodologies and topics for further study are also introduced.
Abstract In applying CTL-based model checking approach to correctness verification of large state transition system specifications, the major obstacle is the combinational explosion of the state space arising due to interaction of many loosely coupled parallel processes. If, however, the modal mu-calculus viewed as a CTL-based logic with recursion, is used to specify the safety and liveness property of a given system, it is possible to resolve this problem. In this paper, we discuss the problem of verifying communication protocol system specified in LTS, and prove that a logic expression specifying safety and liveness in modal mu-calculus is semantically identical to the maximum value of the expression in CTL. This relation is verified by the proof that the sets of states satisfying the two logic expressions are equivalent. The proof can be used as a theoretical basis for verifying safety and liveness of communication protocols represented as I/O FSM model.
This paper presents a concurrent watermarking scheme with both robustness and fragileness for copyright protection and authentication of 3D animation contents. In a 3D animation model, the proposed scheme embeds not only robustly the watermark into geometry node for copyright protection but also fragilely the watermark into position and orientation interpolators for content authentication. This paper names the former as the robust geometry watermarking and the latter as the fragile interpolator watermarking. The proposed scheme performs independently these watermarkings for satisfying at one time the robustness and the fragileness of 3D animation model. From experimental results, we verified that the watermark embedded by the geometry watermarking has the robustness against many attacks from 3D public editing tools and also the watermark embedded by the interpolator watermarking has the fragileness against the same attacks.
Recently, the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) which can organize complex non-linear problems by effectively applying the parallel computational model that is similar to the human brain, was adopted in the wide department of technology and resulted in many successful applications. In this study, a more appropriate formal method is suggested for the preliminary structural design stage controlled merely by the designer's experience and intuition. To do so, this study proposes a multi-level ANN according to the general progressive structural design procedure, using Back-Propagation Algorithm (BP) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) for the ANN learning. The preliminary structural design of cable-stayed bridges was applied to illustrate the applicability of the study formulated as stated above, and the results of two different learning methods were compared.

In this paper, the split-ring DGS resonator is proposed and its equivalent circuit are analyzed to design the low pass filter. Compared with the conventional dumbell DGS cell, this structure has a flat fluctuation in low frequency range and a sharp slop at edge frequency. The out-band suppression of the SRR-DGS cell can be improved by placing the open stubs on the conductor line which operates as parallel capacitances. Making use of equivalent circuit analytical method, the characteristics of the improved SRR DGS cell are investigated and applied to design compact low pass filter, which has a low in-band loss, sharp slop and high suppression of more than 35dB within a wide out-band frequency range. The dependence of the transmission characteristic on the dimension of a split ring, such as side-length and split-gap, is analyzed in detail. In addition, an improved SRR DGS cell model with open stubs loaded on the conductor line is then presented to improve the out-band suppression. By using the equivalent-circuit analytical method, an S-band microstrip low-pass filter with perfect low-pass characteristic and high out-band suppression is designed and fabricated.
Visual scene contains lots of redundant information. To process this redundant information without increasing brain's volume, human visual system may summarize incoming information. If similar but different information are given to visual system, visual system extracts statistical properties of the information. One example of the statistical representation is representation of mean size. The mean representation is accurate and durable. The process of mean representation is suggested to be parallel. However, previous studies on the mean representation mostly used behavioral methods. The purpose of this study was to investigate which neural regions extracted the mean size of a set of circles using fMRI method. According to previous studies, BOLD signal of certain areas that were in charge of cousin stimuli decreased when the same stimuli presented repetitively. We used this paradigm and found that BOLD signal of right occipital area was decreased when same mean site was presented repeatedly. This results suggest that right occipital area is the locus of mean representation of visual stimuli.

The optimum ohmic heating condition of apple juice was investigated with model solution. The temperature rise of model solution was found to be $7.8,\;21.0,\;47.4^{\circ}C/min$ when the distances between electrodes were 29, 22, and 17mm, respectively. The heating rate increased proportionally with the numbers of electrode pairs, 1 to 3 and highly dependent on applied voltage. The heating rate was not affected by the frequencies ranged from 60 Hz to 60 KHz and the wave form of applied alternating electric current. The apple juices prepared by ohmic heating sterilization revealed similar physicochemical properties to that by commercial sterilization.
